The home was clean and lovely. However there were several issues we experienced. The biggest one was we had absolutely no hot water at all for our entire trip. When we called the after hours line at 6am when we realized that they said it was not emergent so they declined trying to get a hold of the agent servicing the property. After much frustration- we finally got thru the agents. They were helpful from that point forward but there was no resolution and the entire house, which was 9-10 women - had no hot water to shower in. That was extremely disappointing and while I know it’s first world problems - that should have been addressed immediately or offered compensation for the extreme inconvenience. We thought of leaving but accommodations for a party of 10 is nearly impossible same day- so we stayed and had to use the neighboring house shower to clean up.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected hot water heater failure during your stay.
As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we had multiple service professionals inspect the unit. Unfortunately, because of the size and type of gas water heater required for the home, a replacement could not be obtained immediately and had to be specially ordered. While we worked diligently to find a solution, we understand that the lack of hot water was frustrating and impacted your experience.
To help make up for the inconvenience, we provided a substantial refund and extended complimentary late checkout on Sunday for both homes that your group rented per your request. While we recognize that these measures could not fully resolve the disruption, they were intended to acknowledge the inconvenience and provide some additional flexibility for your group.
We appreciate your kind comments about the home itself and regret that this unforeseen mechanical failure affected your stay. We have since addressed the issue and appreciate the opportunity to improve for future guests.
thank you, Bill
Wonderful house - spacious and well-appointed, close to the beach and only steps to the community pool, it’s perfect for larger families with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms.

Thank you Paul for the kind words! We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Cape Shores is a wonderful community!! Bill
We had a wonderful stay - loved the closeness to the beach and state park and bike trails and the general layout of the house. The house was fully stocked with items we didn't realize they would have so my only comment would be to update the listing to list all of the appliances, beach accessories, pack and play, hand soap, etc. Thanks for a great stay

Bill M. was incredibly helpful and responsive. The house was beautiful and super well eququiped. It was our first time in Lewes and we will definitly come back!
The property is spacious, clean, and well equipped. The proximity to the beach is amazing and the neighborhood is quiet and very beautiful. We took chairs to the beach and enjoyed an evening sandbar - the kids loved finding crabs and splashing in the tidepools. We would definitely rent again!
Perfect for little kids, access to pool and bay within easy walking distance. Short drive or bike ride over to ocean beach at Henlopen and easy access to Lewes for any and all necessities
We had a perfect weekend celebrating some special birthdays with friends. We spent time at the beach and pool and evenings at the house. Absolutely perfect!!!
This place has it all. Plenty of rooms. A great deck and sunroom. Close to the pool, the beach and a great fishing pier! And even though it’s technically a public beach there are so few people there it feels private. Great vacation!
This property has a premier location in Cape Shores close to both pool and beach. Bed/bath config worked perfectly for us, our two grown married kids with total of 4 grandkids, 2,4,6,8 years old. The gravy is that it’s beautiful, up to date, well stocked and has family friendly common areas ! CB Bill Mantyla is available and very informative. A perfect 10!
This home was better than advertised, well appointed, we loved everything about it! Perfect weather to enjoy the beach/bay and the pool. Communication with the property manager Bill was great, we had no issues and would definitely stay again.
Our stay at the property was incredible. The house exceeded our expectations. It was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. They were nice enough to give a late check out. Would definitely return.

Thank you Edlira! We love to hear this and we hope that you come back to visit us again!
Love this home. Super clean. Comfortable. Stylish. We walked to the little beach everyday right down the street. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. Beds were comfortable. Our whole group agreed that we will be staying here again.
Lovely home and well equipped … only issue was pool had not opened but that wasn’t owner or managers fault. We love the location close to the park and bike trails.

Reviewer Comments:
We love to vacation in Cape shores. The taste level of this home was off the charts. The design aesthetic and attention to detail were impressive. My only feedback is that the house could use some coasters to protect the furniture.
We had a great stay in Lewes! The house was beautiful, with plenty of room for our 10 adults, it was very close to a private bay type beach, which was beautiful and more quiet, and it also had a great pool. We were also within walking distance to the Lewes/ Cape May Ferry, so we also walked on board and went to Cape May one day. Fantastic trip! The one thing I would mention is that the grill was a little touchy. It worked but to avoid our food from getting charred, we use foil to separate the food from the heat. It was a great place, though, and I would highly recommend!
Misleading Information and cumbersome check in process
I will rate the whole experience as poor customer service and misleading information. The information provided in the listing was not accurate and the property owner and listing agent made it cumbersome to check in and out of the property.
The images in the listing showed 3 bunk beds in Bedroom 2, in reality it was one bunk bed with trundle.
This listing is managed by a realtor not an owner and they omitted information about additional fees charged (on top of what VRBO quoted me) by the real estate agent for credit card payments. When I challenged the additional fees being charged, their response was a threat to cancel the reservation.
Even though the house has a key code enabled entry, that code was not provided via email/text. We had to physically go to the realtor’s office to pick up a check in packet to get the key code. At the end of the stay, we were again required to go back to the realtor’s office to drop off parking tags.
We were provided with a phone number to call in case we needed anything after check in, however when I left message on that number, I never heard back. The realtor also did not respond to email communication while we were at the property.

Good day Anamika: I understand your retaliatory review, especially after I had shared the photos with you of the deplorable condition that you had left the house after your 2 day stay: overflowing trash throughout the house, counters full of dirty dishes, sink full of dirty dishes, just a total disregard that this is someone's home. I wish that I could share the photos via this response.
However, I do need to correct a few of your misleading comments ----
1. The bedding is listed corrected on this listing as well as the lease: there is a bunk bed and a trundle in the bedroom that you are referencing. I am sorry that you seen 2 photos of the same bunk bed and thought that it was 2 separate bunks. The occupancy of the house is based on the number of beds and that number is 13. The bedding and the occupancy is listed on the lease that you had signed prior to processing any payment.
2. the terms and conditions of rental are defined prior to you booking and I emailed you screenshots of where they are during the vrbo booking process, I am sorry that you missed that when you booked.
3. I offered to allow you to avoid the credit card fee by sending in a certified check when you asked about waiving the fee - as per the emails that I forwarded to you to refresh your memory. You were not "threatened" with cancellation, you were asked if you would like to cancel if you did not want to pay that fee. And you agreed to the fee when given other options to avoid it.
4. If you look on the listing - I do have it listed that it is hosted by a professional organization and not as an owner, and I have even put my badge as a pdf on the "owner story" .
5. We have verified with Redi-Call after hours service that we did not received any calls from you during your stay --- and the only email that I received from you was a request for a late check out which was late Sunday night which unfortunately we were not able to accommodate as the cleaning crew was already scheduled to arrive as well as other guest.
6.. And finally, yes we do ask tenants to check in to our office (which is on the way to the house by the way) so that we can have them sign out the pool bands and parking passes so that we can ensure that the next guest will have them upon their check in. It is the only way to track that we do, in fact, get the bands and parking passes back so that everyone can enjoy their time at the house.
We do SO appreciate your feedback and we do understand the retaliatory nature of it - however we do feel that your review is unwarranted and inaccurate.
If you have any questions on the terms of the lease, the fees, etc. I would be more than happy to explain them to you in detail. thank you again, Bill Mantyla
