Great location on a deep water lagoon in the heart of Marathon.

Uniquely situated in the heart of Marathon, Unit A or 9920 is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath separate private home/villa/bungalow with its own private pool, BBQ, Gulf and Ocean access, free use of kayaks/paddle board, free dockage for up to 30 foot boat (for longer boats additional per foot charges may apply).

This unique resort type property looks like one big house from the front, but it is actually split into two separate and distinct vacation homes/villas/bungalows. Everything including the driveway are separate and distinct but equally apportioned.

This listing is for Unit A or 9920. Although both sides have the same size and similarly furnished, this Unit has a large jet tub in the main bedroom bath and a shower/tub in the 2nd bathroom. Unit A pool is heated.

Everything has been split in two so that two sets of quests may enjoy the resort in privacy. The swimming pool is divided into two separate pools by a waterfall bridge.
The lagoon and the ocean beyond the lagoon are of course open to all. (See photos).

The lagoon is one of the deepest in the Florida Keys with depths of 30 feet. It is home to turtles, tarpon, snook, snapper, nurse sharks and visiting dolphin and manatees.

Perfect and relaxing

This was are second time staying at this property. It was relaxing and just peaceful Fishing was absolutely amazing !! My son caught a shark right from the dock The sunset were stunning Would stay here again!!

Paradise Cove

Enjoyed our stay immensely. Very relaxing and quiet. The bay view and the wildlife were great. It was so nice to have a heated pool! Only minor issues with the duplex—couple of lights out and the jacuzzi tub didn’t work. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful View and loved the pool.

We stayed for spring break. Pool was great, view was beautiful and had tons of animals visit. Had everything we needed for cooking and lots of towels. Great location, airport can be noisy if you care about that. Could be cleaner in some areas (nothing that effected our time there). Host was there a few times we were there in the lower unit.

Great location

Overall the stay was great. The location was great we caught the daily limit of Lobster within minutes of the property. The fishing was good from the dock if you use chum to lure the fish in.

Property in a great location. Fit a family of five just fine, pool was warm and great for the kids. Nice kitchen too! Could have been a bit cleaner and could use some updates- place was a bit run down

Do Not Rent this place !!!

Aug 5 - Aug 12 2023 . We have used VRBO for a few years now and have never had the experience we had at this house. Things that didn’t work: lighting on the stairs and patio and on the dock with the pool , garbage disposal sink had a foul smell, the pool lights , waterfall and filter didn’t work, the grill is unusable and no lighting to cookout, the landing at the top of the stairs is unsafe , I fell from the stairs due to no lighting. The worse part is the person who manages this House would rather insult your intelligence then listen to the problems with this place ! Biting insects in the house , ceiling fans unstable look like there go fall out of the ceiling, it is not worth the money to stay in this uncared for home!

Honest Review

Great location and great canal. Do not expect any privacy. The owner lives in the 3rd room of the “duplex” and also store their boat there. There was a grill but it was rusted out and had no propane. There was a deep freezer, you were not allowed to store any fish or bait in the fridge or freezers. You are expected to leave it in a cooler full of ice outside until you go home. Each side of the duplex has a pool but the pool’s temperatures made it more like a hot tub. The owner suggested to buy ice to cool it down. The pictures in the ad are deceiving. There’s a sticker on the front door showing the vacation rental was expired. The ceiling fan in the living room was hanging on by the wires & made an awful noise the entire trip. The air was set to 86 degrees and had to be set on 76 if you weren’t there. It took 2 days for the AC to go below 80. The property manager, Carlos, was attentive when we informed him of the AC, but he walked right in (no shirt) without informing us that he was coming upstairs. He called the AC company and made it our responsibility to be there to meet them to get it fixed, even though we had plans to be fishing all day. ANTS WERE EVERYWHERE. Don’t expect to sleep 6 adults here, as the ad states. Has 1 king bed and 2 moveable twin beds. Master bathroom has a tub with a shower head above it, no curtain. It was full of scum and barely drained. The neighbors on the other side and house next door (same owner) had the same complaints.

Excellent Property

We loved this property! It was very nice, and it had everything we needed from a well appointed kitchen to a bait freezer. The pool was great for hot summer days, and the view of the lagoon from the pool was a plus. The lagoon is teaming with sealife, to include giant tarpon. Every evening we would fish for tarpon in the lagoon, and we had action each night and we were able to bring in a 6 footer. The airport noise can be a bit annoying, but it certainly would not deter me from staying again. Our boat was parked at the dock with all of our fishing gear for two weeks, and no one bothered it (unlike stories i heard on other parts of the island). The owner was very friendly and responsive.

Relaxing by the water

Nice setting and view, waterfront on coastal lagoon. Well appointed, equipped and clean. Comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Would definitely stay here again. Given airport nearby, some aircraft noise, but not a major issue.

Great location!

Wonderfully central. Well appointed living areas. Great view and facility. Easy to get anywhere on the Keys. It was delightful to go enjoy a heated pool when the weather turned cold. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

We enjoyed our time. There were quite a few small ants and spiders. Also, it was strange that the office downstairs was being used after business hours in the evenings while we were using the pool. Aside from that we have no complaints.

Nice smaller apartment but room for improvements

Apon arriving the place was in a safe area, very nice outdoor area, where we seen lots of wildlife birds, lizards and a turtle. The pool area was alot of fun and very clean.. It would be so nice to have a light in the water out back to see near by fish at night. The house is split into 2 areas on the top floor levels. Underneath is another area where the owner was there almost everyday or so we seen him. Not sure if he lives there or just checks in almost daily. Which he is great and even offered a boat trip to see sunset if we were availble but was not aware of owner on the property we had a little less privacy than expected and the house was clean but as a woman there was things like dusting of the furniture and watermarks behind the sink, could use a inside paint job etc. No big deal but little things could be improved on. The kitchen area was very updated. The bed was super comfortable and absolutely loved the overhead shower and jetted tub. The waterfall feature and the pool was great and very well cleaned and maintained. They had beach chairs an umbrella that was handy while going to the beach.Though The no see ems was really heavy in the area around the condo. I went through 3 cans of spray in a weeks time. We drove to boondocks and loved playing mini golf with dinner a few nights it was a 20 min drive. The palm trees could use a trim from blocking the view from your upper balcony that would make such a better view. Not to complain to much but just honest opinion about a few things. We would stay again at this property. It is a very nice and quite area. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Property provided an opportunity to see a lot of wildlife. Airport in close range so it was a bit noisy however location provides opportunities to visit Keys north and south. House could use a detailed cleaning and basic maintenance. Very basic cooking tools provided.

As advertised. Just a great experience.

Everything was great. Owner was friendly and helpful-dishwasher was broken but due to supply chain delays could understandably not be repaired in time for us. Owner offered to allow cleaning staff to do our dishes, which we declined...not hard to wash dishes. Otherwise everything was exactly as we expected...a little better than expected actually. Pool and Marina are beautiful and as listed we could see lots of fish, turtles and even a manatee (he swam underneath as I was using the condo's paddle board). 5 min from Sombrero Beach and all other important resources on marathon key such as supermarkets, restaurants, retail and day trip launches. A great deal and a great experience. We'll be back for sure.

Good location in the heart of the keys

Overall good stay in a central location to all the Florida keys. Livingroom furniture was a little uncomfortable. Patio view was obstructed. Little things could be changed to make it even more enjoyable, but was more then worth the money we paid
