"We recently stayed in unit 9 for one week, and loved every minute of it. The park that the units are located in is very well kept, and the residents definitely show pride in ownership. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked very well, the kitchen was fully stocked, and best of all was the outside area. The landscaping is beautiful, and the birds plentiful! So many flowers! The patio was pretty private, and each unit has it's own gas grill for bar-b-que dinners. The units feature original artwork and hand crafted furniture, which was really cool. Hans and Lisa were there on the weekend, and were friendly and accommodating. The jetty is at the end of a picturesque, tree covered path, and it was one of my favorite things about this place. You can see a bunch of fish, horseshoe crabs, and even a small shark! It's the perfect place to go at the end of the day, to watch the sunset. The pool was very clean and the water was warm. I can't say enough about this place!
The only bad thing was the noseeums. Not too many mosquitos, but the noseeums ate me up. I came up with a solution that I recommend to everyone: wear long sleeves, pants, and socks at night and in the morning. I brought a very light long sleeve button up blouse, and it kept them off of me, along with leggings and footie socks with sandals. Quite the sight, I know, but the park is so quiet that nobody really saw me. :) This little precautionary measure enabled me to take walks at night to star gaze. To be fair, noseeums are a problem pretty much anywhere in the Keys. Just dress for them.
If the opportunity arises again-and I'm sure it will-I will definitely stay here. Grassy Key is close enough to Marathon that you have everything you need, and far enough away to be away from the crowds. Sombrero Beach is the perfect beach-not too crowded, shallow water that is crystal clear, and lots of trees at the South end for shade."
