  • Bucket list item--check

"While we have been to Florida many times, we never made it as far south as The Keys. It was something that my husband had on his bucket list. This house couldn't have been better for both location and amenities. We flew into Miami, drove about 2 hours to arrive at the address. Very easy to find. The house was spotless and welcoming. Found the grocery store and settled in to relax. We would definitely visit this spot again. Thanks much! Bob and Eileen"

  • Great Place

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in #9. Description is completely accurate. It's a very good value for price (for the Keys). Very easy check-in process--no need to negotiate an exact time for check-in or out. The photos make the unit and grounds look a little frumpy but actually they are cute and lovely. The owner really puts a lot of effort into making the yard and interior very attractive, highly functional and comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. Thank you, Housekeeper! Strong air conditioning. Plenty of supplies. I cooked meals in the kitchen easily. Probably for health reasons, no food was left in the unit for us to use. The wifi worked fairly well--good on my laptop, so-so on my phone--better on the porch where the router is located. We aren't familiar with using satellite TV but got the hang of it. Unless I'm missing something, you need to wait quite a while for channel information to load. The beds are firm and comfortable; however, a tall or large person might find them too small. There are trailers and other residences quite near the unit, but there weren't many other residents around (even in December) and it was perfectly quiet and private. The no-see-ums were pretty bad in the yard. Skin-so-soft repellent worked better than Off. I saw online that some people recommend using various essential oils as repellant, so you may want to investigate that in advance. I insisted in sitting in the lovely yard despite the bugs and came home with tons of bites. However, it depends on the person--the bugs didn't bother my husband at all. I know no-see-ums are a problem in Florida and many parts of the country, so you'll find them many places. The walk to the jetty and the jetty itself were great--very natural with hardly a man-made structure in sight. Mangroves. Beautiful. Lots of birds and sea creatures. It was often breezy/windy at the jetty which kept the bugs away. The area is nice--north side of Marathon. There are things to do in the area (plenty of stores and restaurants too) and you can drive to Key West in 90 minutes or so. In conclusion, if you want to spend a lot of time outside & are susceptible to bug bites or if you wouldn't be comfortable on a twin bed, this might not be the best place for you. However, if these things wouldn't be issues for you, unit 9 is an absolutely perfect place for an affordable Keys vacation. Highly recommended!"

  • Paradise Found

"After 30 plus trips visiting the FL Keys we have finally found our winter vacation home. From viewing sea life on the dock and kayaking in the Bay to long walks down Morton St., relaxing at the secluded pool, and grilling lobster on the back deck, the experience is more than we ever expected. We are signing up for next year and already can't wait to return."

  • Perfect

"My family stayed for a week in Aug 2016 and it was perfect. The unit comes with everything you need and is very clean. The grounds and pool are kept up and are in perfect condition. We spent a few nights fishing off the pier and even hooked two tarpon which was a bonus. Ed the manager was very helpful and always available, from before we even got there right up to the last day. There are two very good restaurants within walking distance, Key Colony Inn and Sparky's. Make sure you check out the sunsets at Sunset Beach which is just down the street. We rented a boat from Jason at Coco's Boat Rentals for three days and they were also great to deal with and the boats were excellent. Key Colony is located in a great area and is close enough to Islamorada and Key West for day trips. Make sure to check out Bahia Honda State Park which is around 30 mins away also."
