About Herb Adcock and Jillian Van Dresser
Married in Santa Fe over two decades ago, we own businesses serving the high-end hospitality industry in interior design and furnishings. We love traveling and enjoying food, arts, and culture. In Santa Fe, we spend our time trying new restaurants, looking for new artists to follow and collect, enjoying our own property, relaxing at Ten Thousand Waves, or taking in the Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Symphony, and Santa Fe Chamber Music.
Herb Adcock and Jillian Van Dresser purchased this House in 1997

Exceptional House, Spectacular Setting!
Our family just celebrated Christmas at this fabulous house in a magical city. This was our second stay at this home, and all of us highly anticipated our return. Of all the ways this house is special, probably the most significant is to say that you feel like a guest in a friend’s warm, gracious home and feel at home yourself immediately. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out, lovely furnishings and art, comfortable beds and a fantastic, well equipped kitchen. Since our last stay the owners have done some pretty terrific renovations including two new bathrooms, one an especially wonderful master bath with great tub (with mountain views!) oversized shower and heated floors. There were cozy robes in each guest room, plenty of wood for the kiva fireplace and lovely touches everywhere. The living room fireplace had been converted to gas since our last visit which made it easy to have coffee in front of the fire in the morning and hit a switch to turn it off when we left for the day. All of this is situated in a spectacular setting, with views of the Sangres that are awesome at any time of year. We didn’t use the outside areas much because of the time of year-----but a new gas fireplace and seating area nearby, overlooking the mountains is very appealing and the outdoor kitchen is a chef’s dream. The artist’s studio is an amazing space and our granddaughters enjoyed reading and painting at the easel set up down there. The owner of this home is particularly attentive and responsive and his manager a delight. Julie filled the house with poinsettias to welcome us and responded immediately to any request. Perfect, all of it---and we certainly hope to return. One last point: the just-out-of-town location of this house does mean you give up the “walk to the Plaza” ability but the trade-off for a wonderfully spacious house, spectacular mountain views and lovely quiet is more than worth it. The ride to the Plaza took about 8 minutes---and Uber worked very well when we went out to dinner. Lots of superlatives here and every single one warranted!
Hi Patty, what a great and extensive review of our home in Santa Fe! We truly appreciate the kind words and accolades. We spend a lot of time trying to constantly improve our property so that we can continue to earn the 5 star ratings from our guests. I think your words perfectly quantify our vision; great location, quality furnishings, great indoor and outdoor kitchens, subtle accouterments. Thank you.
Great location for family holiday!
Beautiful home and property. The local team of Julie and Joe did a great job making us feel welcome and communicating before and during our stay. The home was very comfortable for a family of 6. The pizza oven and outdoor grill were very nice in spite of the winter weather. Very nice week and a property we will definitely look at for future trips to Santa Fe. This was our first time not staying a short walk to the plaza, the amenities were worth the trade off for our family.
Thanks Will. We definitely appreciate your kind words and your visit to Vista Encantada. We try to offer as many amenities as possible to prolong the enjoyment of our property. As well, we agree that our property offers much more than those adjacent to the Plaza. Thanks
This home is for relaxation and view enjoyment looking to the Sangre de Cristo mountains.
The owners have provided their guests with several comfortable spots to view the mountains and/or visit with friends and family. The home is well-furnished in every sense. The piece de resistance is the outdoor patio, comfortably furnthished including the amazing outdoor kitchen. We stay each year two-three weeks and are never sorry.
Thanks Toby, great to hear from you with glowing reports! We are constantly improving Vista Encantada and enhancing the guest experience. We appreciate your loyalty for the past many years and look forward to your next visit. Herb
We love Santa Fe for its arts, culture and food! Our favorites are the Santa Fe Opera, Canyon Road art galleries, Taos pueblo, Tesuque Market, Ten Thousand Waves, Downtown Plaza, Collected Works and Garcia Street Bookstores, and the Santa Fe farmer's market. Also don't miss Meow Wolf! It's hard to choose between exploring and luxuriating at home with a home-cooked meal.
