My folks and their friends had a glorious time in Davis. Your home has proven to be very comfortable option for everyone involved. It might be a little too comfortable as my dad repeatedly said that they should stay for 2 or 3 months next time around.
This house was the perfect place for our family to stay while in Davis for our daughter's graduation. It is in a tranquil leafy neighborhood not far from all the action of campus and town, actually a straight shot down Anderson Rd from where the grad ceremonies take place. (But far enough away from noisy student housing!) The house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The house has an open floor plan, and nice little garden in the back. I would have to say that the beds are just ok. The owner was responsive and informative. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely house in Davis. Thanks!!
Just rented the house for the weekend with my niece and her best friend. We had the perfect time. Shopped Whole Foods for groceries. Cooked, sat in the yard and visited for hours!!!! Walked the Arboretum in Davis, went to the Saturday Farmers Market (fabulous) and had breakfast at Crepeville. Had a massage at Massage Envy (remarkable for all of us). All of this was within driving distance (short drives). The perfect and comfortable (house) get away. We are talking about next year already. The owner answered e mails promptly and really gave us all the info we needed. Thank you V.
My husband and I rented this house for a week while visiting family and sightseeing. We had my mom and aunt traveling with us and the house was perfect for the four of us. The house is set up with the master bedroom on one side of the living area and two bedrooms on the other side. The two bedrooms are at each end of a hallway with a bathroom and laundry room in between. This arrangment gave each of us plenty of privacy. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, very convenient to downtown and other amenities, and the greenbelt is accessible at the end of the street. The living area is larger than it looks in the pictures, comfortably furnished, and we had plenty of room to spread out. The backyard is lovely and the master bedroom has a private enclosed patio as well. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large island with plenty of space for preparing food. Valerie was wonderful to work with, very responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved our stay here and would definitely return. We recommend the Farmer's Market, the arboretum on the UC-Davis campus, the Artery (artists coop downtown), and the following restaurants: Seasons, Burgers and Brew, and Cafe Bernardo for breakfast.
We are a group of folks who lived in Davis previously and were back in town for the wedding of two friends. The house suited us well- we walked in and gasped with pleasure at both the size and beauty of the main living quarters. The kitchen was a delightful surprise- there were even cupcake pans! We had everything we needed to cook full meals. The fridge even had condiments. Everything was perfectly clean.
One thing to think about: the house is super echo-y. We had two babies in our group, and once they woke up, everyone was up, because the house is in no way sound-proof. Also, the second bathroom is IN the master, and there is no separation of shower/sink and bedroom, which I'm not sure was in the description? It made shower time slightly awkward for our group. Also, the dryer wasn't working when we stayed here, so there was a bit of "oh, is that your underpants on the clothesline?". But it was ok.
You will need a car if you rent this house. SaveMart is not too terribly far, but it's far enough that you won't want to walk.
Overall I do recommend this house. The backyard is nice, the location is ok, and the house itself is well-maintained and lovely.
We stayed from the 16th to the 23 of December and would have stayed longer if possible. The house is well equipped and has a quiet but central location. Harvesting fresh oranges from the property (with owners permission) was a special treat).
We have children and grandchildren living in Davis and the availability of this property made our visit one of the best ever for us. My communications with Valerie were responded to so promptly and warmly . The home is as lovely and spotless as pictured. And to our delight it is just around the block from our children's home. We can't thank the Garforth's enough for making available such a perfect place for a visit to Davis. We'll be back in 2013!!
