This is what the guest wrote me about the incident: Nov 6, 2025 Betty Pribyl Hi Trudy Just wanted to let you know that we left early today. My husband had an accident early Wednesday morning he got out of bed to get a drink of water and forgot about the step down into the living area. I took him to the emergency and he ended up dislocating his shoulder and was uncomfortable at the cabin, so we decided to leave early. thanks Betty 4:02 PM This is an Engineer's assessment of the step: Notwithstanding the absence of locally adopted/enforced codes, the step was evaluated against the International Residential Code (IRC), which represents the most widely referenced standard for one- and two-family dwellings in the United States. Relevant IRC requirements (2021 edition, Section R311.7.5.1): - Maximum riser height: 7¾ inches -The measured riser height of the subject step is below this maximum and therefore compliant. The step configuration meets standard code geometry requirements for residential interior single steps. Conclusion and Recommendations The single step in question does not violate any applicable building code geometry requirements. No design, construction, or maintenance deficiencies related to the step were identified that contributed to the guest’s fall. I always appreciate guest's input, thank you Rebecca, the pictures in this listing are from the cabin's location, as well as the many guest reviews, so seeing the Northern lights from the driveway is not a stretch and is something that I'm very proud of. Her expertise on northern lights was based on five nights in Fairbanks, as anyone here will tell you there's a lot more that goes into seeing the northern lights. It's a matter of the KP index, how full the moon is, how clear the night is and most importantly timing. Unfortunately with the Northern lights it's based on several factors happening at the perfect time, in Fairbanks we're extremely luckier than most of the world. I compare the forecast for northern lights, to the forecast of rain in the lower 48, when it's forecasted to rain for a region, it varies by the specific location and can change in a minute. The northern lights are the same. You must be diligent and you will most likely be very tired the next day because the majority of the time they happen well after midnight.
