This cozy redwood retreat has a welcoming covered front porch, a fully equipped kitchen, and bamboo and tiled floors throughout. Nice get-a-way from the city

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic little cabin. Pretty much new, very clean, and it had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay. One very interesting thing is how absolutely quite it is at night. We would definitely stay again.

cozy cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

It was cozy, comfortable and we appreciated Jeffery stopping in to see if we needed anything. The bed was comfortable. I was very quiet and a deer visited nearby. The grocery store about 10 minutes away had everything we needed and some good take out.

Peaceful Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was small but very well designed and beautiful in a beautiful setting. The owner, Jeffrey, was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely want to return or recommend to others. Very accessible to some beautiful hikes in the state parks.

Wonderful location, close to every place place that we wanted to visit.

  • 5 of 5

The owner Jeffrey was a friendly ,helpfull host. The property was exactly as described, maybe a little bit better than discribed. My wife and I and my grandson traveled to the area from Indiana ,wanting to see the gorgeous sites of northern California and were not disappointed! What a wonderful place to stay. Trinity River, Patrick's Point , Redwood national and State forest, we were right there within driving distance. We even spent a day at the property enjoying the nature. If we are ever in the neighborhood again we will be sure to look Jeffrey up and tihis will be the place we will stay. Thank you Jeffrey for sharing your wonderful place with us.

Nice cabin, bad interactions with owner.

  • 2 of 5

The cabin is great. Mixed feelings about Jeffrey frankly. I had a few questions before arriving and I always got the feeling I was bothering him. Terse responses and "we'll talk when you arrive."

The day of my arrival I could not find the lock code in any document I had received. And the VRBO app on my phone did not have that info on that page. I texted him at 2 to get it. When we arrived at the cabin two hours later I had not heard from him and called and left a voicemail (I was kind of angry I admit, though I called right back to apologize). About 10 minutes later he texted me the four digits. When he called a few minutes later, no apology for taking two hours to respond to my text. He said simply, "it was in the document I sent you." I don't believe it was, since I kept every email and document he sent me. But even if it was, it was an unkind response and an apology for the delayed response to a guest arriving that day was warranted.

He arrived about half an hour later and drove past the cabin to his house. Didn't stop to check in. Before my daughter and I headed out for dinner about 20 minutes later, I walked up the hill to his house and introduced myself. He was all smiles. And yes, the cabin is clean and beautiful, but those interactions soured it for me. Oh, and "the cabin is a short stroll to the Mad River" is really a stretch.
