About Sherry and Larry
My husband and I are originally from Canada and came to Costa Rica on vacation for the first time in 1991. We fell in love with the people and gentle lifestyle and made Costa Rica our permanent home in the year 2000. We enjoy being close to the ocean and completed our final dream home and rental villa in 2009. We are always delighted to meet new people from around the world and hence our decision to build a rental accommodation in order to help newcomers feel comfortable in any way we can.
Sherry and Larry purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Sherry and Larry chose Sámara
We searched all down the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and chose Samara because of its natural tropical beauty and abundance of monkeys and other wildlife and yet is close to many services. We can see and hear the sound of the surf and have the benefit of gentle sea breezes all year round. Samara is the safest swimming beach in the country, next-door Carrillo Beach is to us the most beautiful as well as being renowned for deep-sea fishing and nearby Camaronal is a protected turtle-nesting ground as well as an expert surfing beach. Location is close to the beach and town. One of the International Airports (Liberia) is less than a 2-hour drive.
What makes this Villa unique
There are many things to do in the area including swimming, surfing (beginner and expert), scuba diving, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, ATV touring, biking, various organized tours including seeing the dolphins or visiting a nearby turtle-nesting beach, horseback riding, ultra-lite planes, canopy tours, numerous options for dining/sunset cocktails, or just relaxing in a hammock or by the pool. The beach is within walking distance and the drive to town is a mere 3 minutes.

Amazing panoramic views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sherry and Larry’s property. We loved sitting on our second floor balcony watching the sunrise and sunset each day. The views are amazing!! Spending a “happy hour” with such welcoming and gracious hosts was a great way to start our stay. The unit is comfortable and spacious and having their pets around made it feel like home. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone staying in the Samara area.
Perfect location. Lovely hosts!
The view at the house was unbeatable. We loved being able to hear the sights and sounds of the town without being right in the middle of it. The breeze from the deck and the smells of gardenia and other flowers was intoxicating. And the other reviews say it all about Larry and Sherry. Super nice people who were friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!
fantastic ocean view
We just spent 10 wonderful days in Samara at Larry and Sherry's beautiful villa. This was our third trip to the Nicoya Peninsula (previously we were in Nosara and Tamarindo), and Samara was our favourite spot for many reasons. The apartment was spacious, nicely decorated with a fully equipped kitchen; the bed was comfortable and there was A/C in the bedroom which we did use from time to time. The highlight of this apartment is the stunning ocean view! Waking up to this every day was truly special, and we spent lots of time at the villa, either on the balcony or at the infinity pool relaxing and swimming. The highlights of the trip were watching howler monkeys in the nearby trees, swimming in the ocean and walking the beach, going to Luv Burger on the beach (you do not have to be vegetarian to enjoy the food!), yoga with Karina at Casa Coba, and just relaxing at the villa. We also recommend a trip to nearby Carillo beach, with its beautiful white sand. Although you can walk to the beach (and town, which is a bit further), we were happy we had the car; it is uphill to the villa and it was quite hot while we were there. There are also a few small, good grocery stores nearby (we frequented Iguana Verde and Samara Organics). Sherry and Larry were lovely hosts. They were always happy to sit and chat over cocktails or help out when needed, but also provided privacy and space for guests who prefer less interaction. They have a very friendly dog and 2 cats, which made us happy, as we were missing our own 2 cats at home.
Thank you so much, Larry and Sherry, for sharing your lovely home with us and being such welcoming and gracious hosts! We will definitely be back.

We only stayed for three nights, but we wished we had stayed a week! My husband and I brought our two daughters with us (ages 5 and 9), and we had a ball playing in the pool and enjoying all that the area has to offer!
Comfortable apartment with terrific views and location
We had a great time in Sámara, beach hopping, and a little bit of hiking. Nice to have AC in the bedroom, and a functioning kitchen. It was everything we needed. The pool was great too.
Muy bonito! We loved this home and the Larry and Sherry. The view was the best part, and it was a nice cozy accommodations. The view of Samara bay was wonderful from the pool and the deck. We loved sitting on the deck at night listening to the night sounds. Larry and Sherry were there when we needed them but never in our space. It's close to town but not to close. We would go back for sure and stay longer.
