About the property

House with Extensive Grounds, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sle

We were honored to learn that Lyle Lovett had been a guest at Casa Vida and had written three songs during his stay. He expressed his thanks in the guest book entry shown that is framed at the house. You will be inspired, too, by your stay at Casa Vida ('Life House'), whose name signifies it's contribution to the lives of our guests. We hope that your visit to Casa Vida will also be a treasured experience, to be shared with friends and family and repeated as often as possible.Casa Vida offers the comforts of home, while immersing our guests in the natural and historical perspectives of the Big Bend region. The house itself, a renovated adobe featured in Alpine's historic home tour, is fully furnished and decorated with authentic pieces native to the rugged, yet refined confluence of Mexican, Texan, and Western cultures that makes the legendary Big Bend Country unique in so many ways.Information below details the myriad amenities of Casa Vida.

Two separate and private living areas, joined by access to the remarkable and fully supplied kitchen, offer ideal accommodations for two couples or a couple and additional family or friends. Bring the friends or grandparents and stay in complete comfort and harmony!

The spacious grounds of Casa Vida offer privacy and ambiance that enhance enjoyment of the views of surrounding mountains and superb Alpine climate at 4500 feet elevation. Abundant sensory delights are guaranteed. Little known fact: Alpine's average high temperature for July and August is 89 degrees and its average night-time temperature for the same months is 65 degrees! (heaters and blankets provided year-round!)

Our guests at Casa Vida face an ongoing dilemma: whether to relax at the seductively peaceful and therapeutic house and grounds, experience the surrounding historic district with its distinctive architecture, shops, art galleries, restaurants, and entertainment (you've got to check out Big Bend's only honky tonk, Railroad Blues!)-all in walking distance, or set out on an easy day trip to explore the natural and cultural wonders that lie to the north, south, east, and west.

A quick look at a map and internet info will show you that Alpine is the best home-base from which to see the majestic and multi-faceted Big Bend Country. Let us share Casa Vida-a home that will become a part of your life!

Very nice stay in Alpine

  • 4 of 5

Had a great stay here with 3 of my buddies. We were riding our motorcycles thru Big Bend & had a great time. The house was very nice with a secure place to park our bikes. It was so much better than staying at a hotel as we were able to spend quality time together.

The accommodations were great & very comfortable. Easy access to all the places we wanted to go to. We would stay here again.

Enchanting Casa in a Convenient Location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Casa Vida over the long Thanksgiving weekend. The home was clean and well stocked with comfortable beds and plenty of space to spread around both inside and out. We felt very safe. It is quite a drive to Big Bend but was just a short distance from Fort Davis. Alpine is a quaint and eclectic college town with a hopping main street filled with shops, galleries, several restaurants as well as places to grab a snack. It was a great launching spot due to there being a Family Dollar and Dollar General a few blocks away where we were able to pick up several items that we had forgotten to pack. Casa Vida is a definite recommend.

Great house for a group looking for a quiet yet vibrant neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Vida was brief. José ran the M2M marathon on Saturday. We arrived Friday and left on Sunday. Casa Vida has the charm of West Texas and the neighborhood has that culturally diverse appeal of living near the Texas Mexican border. We ate dinner at "La Casita" which is within walking distance. The food and service were exceptionally good. The house floor plan and layout were as described and a group like ours could socialize or find a place to reflect privately. The outside patio(s) were quite a treat. We enjoyed the landscaping that highlights the character of the land. We sat and star gazed as much as we could under the brilliant night sky. The bedrooms were very private and featured very comfortable beds; the living area was set off from the bedrooms so late-night TV watching did not disturb those resting.

Splendid time in Alpine!

  • 5 of 5

This quiet abode has everything one needs for a pleasant stay in Alpine. It is a perfect central location as a base for making day trips to Big Bend Park, Terlingua, Marfa, McDonald Observatory and other scenic destinations in the area. Casa Vida was a great experience and I recommend it highly. And I wrote a song while I was there....well, I started it, anyway...

Sweet rambling Texas farm house

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights at Casa Vida with the girls. First time to the area and had plenty to keep us active…actually too much to do in a few days. Loved Alpine, Big Bend, McDonald Observatory and of course Marfa! The kitchen and house were well equipped. The jacuzzi was a nice treat after a long day. To think that we may have sat in the same chair as ol' Lyle too! Would definitely return to Casa Vida!!!

Wonderful House!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family spent a week at Casa Vida and had a wonderful time. The house is charming and very well equipped. There was plenty of room for sleeping inside the house. We also pitched a few tents in the yard to take advantage of the beautiful west Texas night sky! There are several lovely patios where we enjoyed gathering in the early morning and evening. The house is centrally located to the many attractions in the area. I wholeheartedly recommend Casa Vida.
