SUPER VALUE VACATION HOUSE: PRIVATE BEACH, GOLF, POOL, BIKES
Do you want to enjoy natural beauty, peaceful privacy and easy access to this neighborhood’s private wild, uncrowded 2 mile long beach, Lazy River and splash pads, excellent recreation, and close by terrific restaurants and stores? Here escape the traffic, crowds, and noise that so often accompany beach destinations at the quietest private beach on the island that the public cannot access. This is also a wonderful walking area and good for crabbing. Bring the beach chairs we provide, your happy hour snacks for sunset, wiggle your toes in the sand, and breathe in the fresh sea air. Everywhere you turn, more opportunities welcome you – 70 miles of paved, level island bike trails, 10 of which are in this neighborhood and connect across the island to the others winding through forested views of the 4 public golf courses just in this neighborhood alone, plus the beauty of lagoons and the ocean. And this is on 6 bikes we provide with locks and baskets – bring your own helmets! The new Lazy River swishes folks along on provided swim noodles through tropical scenery and past playful animal sculptures.. After this, swim under the bridge to the adjoining huge pool. Later return closer to the house, where 2 blocks away is a Quiet Time pool for rest and relaxation. Loungers and umbrellas surround a scenic enclave where swimming, reading and relaxing are available without the excitement of the other area. This is an easy bike ride from the house. Car parking is also available at both swim sites. I'll send you a list of the popular, busy public beaches to help you decide which ones suit you. A 15 minute drive to these from the house. This 3000 sq ft home in our desirable, gated community sits on a half acre lot amidst palms, bountiful azaleas and towering Carolina pines overlooking a scenic lagoon, and with easy proximity to the private 2 mile long, wild beach, 2 pools, one 2 blocks away, and the fun Lazy River with its splash pads, a 10 minute bike ride. TENNIS, and GOLF (4 public courses) are inside the neighborhood available either on a bike or by car. At the house, there is ample space for different activities for different people - cooking, reading, sunning, biking, watching movies, bird watching, listening to music, and big desk work space with internet of course. You may find you explore the area less because of this home's well designed comforts, elegance, and serenity. Our large kitchen has plenty of counter and cupboard space and bright window views to make family cooking together fun with lots of utensils and pots and pans. . Later sample some of the locals' favorite waterfront restaurants very close by. (We have left our suggestions for you). No neon signs, no casinos, no motorcycles, no bright night lights, but instead a respect for natural beauty, peacefulness, and recreation. The private neighborhood beach is a 5 minute car ride in our neighborhood or a 15 minute bike ride to this beach and a shade parking area with a children’s playground and a washroom. And the gorgeous, busy public beaches are only a 15 minutes drive. Grocery stores are right here at the perimeter of the houses without having to use the busy summer hwys . And the island’s best restaurants and activities – dolphin cruises, chartered fishing, kayaking tours, sunset cruises, zip lining, boat rentals, jet skis – are all here because this is the island’s largest year round community where store owners choose to provide consistent year round business rather than only in tourist season. At this end of the island, you will enjoy free Tuesday night fireworks, outdoor movie evenings and more restaurants on the water than at any other island location. The Coastal Discovery Museum for those who love local history and nature is close by run in conjunction with the Smithsonian. And a Civil War fort close to the house can be reached by bike or car to tour alone or on the days when guides are present reminding us all of those past days when the US struggled to remain together. It is difficult when there to imagine the heat and terror of the battles fought here to preserve the nation we know today. Come, experience Hilton Head Island. Rest, relax, recharge - reserve! You're going to love it here. My family liked this rental home okay. I was disappointed as I needed true handicapped accessible ammenities in the home, which were not available as found upon arrival to the rental property. This made for some very uncomfortable situations for me. My needs were discussed prior to scheduling this home for my vacation. The community was beautiful. My family enjoyed the community pool and lazy river during our brief stay. We will be staying in Hilton Head, again but at a wheelchair friendly property and home.

Shawna's inquiry stage asked ONLY if her wheelchair would be accessible in our house to meet her needs.
Our one story spacious house has low entry levels and wide halls and doorways with level access. Outdoors side and back in our half acre scenic lagoon private yard are level, concrete patios.
All earlier handicapped inquirers and guests have been comfortable with our facilities.
On arrival she connected with my husband on the phone with accusations of misrepresentation over no raised handicapped toilet seat, and no shower stall bars on 4 surrounding walls, only one wall.
She wanted us to pay for a toilet seat that met her needs. We did not agree to do this but sent her details of the very close by store who stocked this and its price to address needs she should earlier have specified.
Recently she phoned us about the refund she was expecting - not a security deposit. I offer guests a choice of cleaning price options prior to arrival: $160 if they choose to wash and dry the towels, empty and wipe down the fridge and empty all garbage to outside cans. Nearly all guests choose to save the $70 this costs if the cleaner remains longer to do it. Shauna paid $160 and completed the necessary tasks BUT was confused sufficiently that she called for a $70 refund. Once I explained the details she had been provided in print, she understood.
A more careful initial reading of what features different properties offer would provide her and all guests their best vacations.
Thanks, Nancy. We were pleased to have you visit and do hope to see you again.
Do contact me directly if you want to return.
I hope the health of your parents was under control as you left.

Wonderfully kept home in secured community. Great neighborhood, friendly neighbors, great for walking, including walking with dog. Friendly, welcoming homeowners.
Great location. We had an amazing time. Pool and splash pad were great for us to hang out.
House had everything you would need.

Families with young children love the Lazy River and splash pads. Others enjoy the quiet time pool 2 blocks away in a scenic setting with loungers, umbrellas and a washroom with shower. The private beach 2 miles long is also a terrific escape from the madding crowd. Peace and spaciousness await back at the house. Colleen
Perfect location for us. We needed to be on the other side of the island from Sea Pines, where our son was proposing to his girlfriend (she didn’t know we’d be there…and she said Yes!). House had everything we needed. Nice area, great stay!

I'm so glad, Ramona, that your son's inclusion of his Dad and you in his engagement plans went so successfully. What an exciting reason to be able to enjoy all the beauty and and diversity of a summer week in Hilton Head.
I hope you had time also to enjoy the wonderful amenities in our neighborhood - the Lazy River with its self propelling current carrying you along, the private, wild two mile long beach at Dolphin Head,
the 10 miles of paved, level bike paths and the island's best restaurants and stores at our neighborhood's perimeter, our Quiet Time pool and relaxation sun deck - all close by so you don't have to become involved in crazy Summer traffic. Hope you can return, Colleen

Hi Mike and Judy -
Each time we spoke you two were out having fun. I'm so glad our house and neighborhood were such a good match for you. If anything changes with our March 2021 reservation others made, we will certainly contact you. Stay safe from covid in the meantime. Colleen
We loved the house, quite spacious! The use of the bikes on the property was awesome. Quick ride to the neighborhood pool. The owners are lovely and super helpful, we look forward to a return trip.
The property was nestled in the northern residential area of Hilton Head, away from the touristy area (15minute drive south). It was fairly secluded with a local pool and nature conservancy within walking distance. The home was spacious and showed its age. It is a two bedroom home with some air mattresses and a couch for extra sleeping arrangements.
We had a super great, relaxing QUIET time! Was a vaca work week for us.
Don and Colleen are wonderful to communicate with before and during our visit. Blessings /o/

Celeste brought terrific enthusiasm to her HH visit this year as I suspect she does everywhere engaging fully with those she meets along the way.
She enjoyed the spaciousness and light in our house as she worked through her files and Bob rode the 70 miles of island paved, level bike paths. We're so glad your Mom also enjoyed the house amenities and our outdoor floral shrubbed yard backing on the lagoon. Thank you for having left a tip for the cleaner, very thoughtful. Ya'll come back to see us when we're there! Colleen
The home was very spacious and clean-perfect for our family of 7. The owners were in contact with, answering any questions we had. They were very kind and informative.

Hi Rita -
Your family were happy, courteous and helpful. Thans again for assisting the internet company do their new installation and for your good care of the house.
I'm glad you were able to have dinner at the Crazy Crab but you need to come back and sit on Hudson's dock over the water at sunset fpr dinner. Nothing on theisland beats that. And it's so close to our house!
Hope to see you return,
Colleen and Don
The location is great for off island golf. Bear Creek inside plantation is nice course with lots of dog legs. We’ll stocked with everything you need. Huge rooms. Lots of information from the owner.

Hi Lance -
Thanks for detailing off island golf had better prices. Every course now is so busy, I think golf has reclaimed its popularity. In a covid world, we know the pleasure and wisdom of spending outdoors time with sun and exercise. Isn't HH the perfect escape for that? Beaches, golf courses, biking trails, tennis, bocce - all just outside the door.
Plus wonderful restaurants at our neighborhood's perimeter and excellent shopping. Hope you can return, Colleen
Extremely comfortable home in a beautiful, gated community. Had great extra value including private beach, tennis courts, nature preserve, and a gorgeous pool. Conveniently located to restaurants, stores, entertainment, and public beaches. Owners were quick to respond to any questions or issues and worked to ensure we could access the activities we planned on doing. Hope to have the opportunity to stay there again in the near future.

Thank you for sharing your family's picture with us at the neighborhood beach. Your grandchild appeared very happy to have four devoted adults! The Lazy River will be more fun in a couple more years. Colleen
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lovely home tucked in a quiet corner of Hilton Head Plantation. The property offers comfortable beds, an unusually well equipped kitchen, and plenty of space for quiet reading or for family games, puzzles, and conversation. Excellent location is close to beaches, pools, kayaking, restaurants, and shopping, yet feels peaceful and quiet. Hosts are friendly, helpful, and communicative. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Guests always enjoy our spacious house and huge private yard, but more so in a covid world where we are seeking nature's restorative peace and beauty while still being quickly able to reach amenities such as gorgeous beaches and delightful restaurants. We're so pleased it was the Right Choice for you also and hope you do return. Colleen
Nice home in a quiet HH neighborhood. We enjoyed the pool and lazy river. Great place to ride bikes. The nearest beach is about 15 minutes away. The home itself could use a little TLC.

Even the island's best restaurants and groceries are a bike ride away without becoming involved in the busy summer traffic. Colleen
We had a great experience with this rental. It is perfect for a family vacation. The house is private, spacious, & clean. It has everything necessary for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. The owners go above and beyond to provide guests with anything needed, including promptly answering questions and providing information. Can’t wait to go again! Thanks Colleen & Don!!

You had perfect Nov beach weather which seems to becoming more the norm these last few years. How super you shared time with former neighbor friends who had moved here showing you exactly their reasons for having done so. You had said how beautiful and natural the island was which is its main claim to fame, environmental protection of this stunningly scenic setting. Very different than elsewhere.
Colleen
What a great place to disconnect and unwind. I love the quiet community and such a peaceful location. We enjoyed going for walks and biking as well. So many wonderful paths to enjoy. The Whooping Crane Conservancy is a great area to visit. We were able to see the dolphins at Dolphin Head Beach, just 10 minutes from the house. What a wonderful get away!

I'm so glad, Chris, that all was as you wanted it to be and that the setting and activities so close by brought you all so much fun and togetherness. That nearby Nature Conservancy is really special. isn't it? So much wildlife in there to watch in their habitat I hope you can return. Colleen
The house is in a very nice, large subdivision with golf courses and beach access. The house is a little older but very nice and was clean and neat when we arrived. It also has very nice furnishings. Additionally, the owners provided us with lots of recommendations for restaurants and activities around the island as well as bikes and beach chairs so we didn't need to bring anything else.

Hi Bret -
Given you are all beach lovers, what better place to holiday than the beauty of HH with a different beach for every day if you want variety.
The proximity from our house to the beaches you chose with free good parking and washrooms are often the ones others also choose. I don't know if you beach biked on the 6 bikes in the garage, but that to us is the best island biking in spite of the 70 + miles of paved, level bike paths all over this island including 10 miles right here in our neighborhood. Thank you for the very good care and clean up you did prior to departure - our cleaner was impressed. We hope you can return an enjoy more of the island and area. Colleen
We enjoyed some of the restaurants, did some shopping, rode bikes a couple of times and went horseback riding. We also made some day trips. My daughter has a National Parks passport so we visited 4 National Parks. There is a lot to do in Hilton Head and places within 1 to 2 hours away. I would recommend a vacation here.

What a whirlwind visit you had taking in so much of the outlying area in addition to the island. For those who want to experience more than this 5 X12 mile gorgeous island rimmed by beaches and full of fun recreation and terrific eating, you are so right, that many additional interest points are only a 1-2 hr drive away. I do recommend for those who want to visit Charleston that they stay over one night to really be able to have a fuller experience. Plus the dark night roads back to HH especially when many are travelling are safer in daylight. And there is much island hopping here with connecting bridges to so many others. But HH is the Best! Colleen
About the host
Your host
We are a retired couple who have for years shivered through winter, but no more! In our search for a warmer climate second home, Hilton Head's attractions outnumbered our other possibilities. Here was a controlled world, where long ago, planners envisioned an environment that respected nature's beauty, not destroyed it. Stringent controls have prevented neon signs; permits are necessary to remove trees; noise, and speed laws are enforced; lighting has to meet specific standards - this is a world of scenic beauty, and recreation. In addition, where else can you bike ride on the beach for miles, your roses don't die over the winter, palms and azaleas thrive, plus you can drive from home?
Why they chose this property
Life here is more relaxed and less busy than other areas since cars are not admitted through to sightsee our neighborhood as happens in Sea Pines. Many people live here year round, so it is not so transient, or seasonal. People here smile, and say hi even when they don't know you. It's friendly, scenic, comfortable, and readily accessible to amenities, many of which are excellent right here inside the gates.
What makes this property unique
This house has spacious rooms which in addition to the outside views seen through the many windows, and skylights, seem to meld the outdoors with the indoors. We don't feel confined here, and part of that is a temperate climate that has a resort-like feel to it, so no matter the season, the outdoors can be enjoyed. The tropical palms swaying outside the screened porch, the Carolina swing under the portico, all contribute to relaxation. What else do we like here? The sunshine's sparkle on the lagoon, the birds' song at the feeder, quick bike trips to the beach, or fine restaurants, and the factory outlets just off the Island. There are also big, comfortable spaces for working while here.
