About the property

One of a kind, spectacular location, centrally located.

Start with one of the most spectacular settings in the world, this vacation rental sits on 2.5 acres of land, you won't hear your neighbors conversations from their deck (like at the golf course condos). There is plenty of parking for your group. Massage therapist available, hardwood floors, baby grand piano, and personal robes in each bedroom, describes just some of the special features and touches of this home. Oh and did we mention the daily rate is for the whole group? Not based on the first two then charged extra for any more that two?

Add unrivaled year-round recreation opportunities, infuse with crisp alpine air, and toss together with the kind of relaxing pace and luxurious living only found nestled between the mountain peaks and edge of Mohawk Valley, near Graeagle. That's our recipe for the good life, a life second to none. in the winter, come relax, snowmobile or cross country ski at the trails and roads made just for your winter sports.

Just one mile from Extraordinary Nakoma Golf course and spa, the Whitehawk Golf Course, and a couple of miles to Graeagle Meadows and Plumas Pines golf course. This home is a place where friends, family, business colleagues and 'stars' can be entertained. We are able to accommodate literally 10-15 people, with a large living room (with rock fireplace), dining room area that seats ten, open kitchen with all of the amenities. The home has been recently remodeled and upgraded from the 1950's when it was built. Notably, we used the 'best of the old house' to keep the original flair. Entering the home is a stunning experience. The living room view encompasses the entire west view of Mohawk Valley and all the way to Eureka Peak, the kitchen and dining room view encompass the Eastern View of Mohawk Valley and Mills Peak.

The Mohawk Valley region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains is one of the best places in the world to live and vacation. Start with a sunny, low-humidity, practically-perfect climate from spring through fall. Wedding venue for guest up to 100 May thru October, see the special rates

Keywords: INCREDIBLE VIEWS, 2.5 acres, lawn, sleeps up to 13 in beds. Two fireplaces, hardwood floors, tastefully decorated, all you need is clothes and food.

About Johna

This is the home I grew up in. Our family has been in the area four generations. I am a board member of Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce, and a licensed Real Estate Broker/owner of Sierra Mountain Properties. I have found many properties and homes for others to enjoy this area too, either vacation rentals weekend retreats , or full time residency.

Johna purchased this house in 1965

Why Johna chose Shasta Cascade

This home has passed down through the generations. It was the original summer home for the owner of Mohawk Valley. The cattle are here every summer, without fail. This area is growing, but will never be as busy as Tahoe or Truckee, its our little secret piece of the sierras. There are many hiking and mountain biking trails and lakes within 10 minutes of the house, and for a quick swim at the millpond in Graeagle, that's just 4 miles away. In Graeagle you can enjoy shopping in the old mill town, enjoying a glass of wine at the wine garden, or visit the local brewery.

What makes this house unique

This home offers incredible views of Mohawk Valley and Eureka Peak (where the historic Longboard races are held each winter). The home has two fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the kitchen, hardwood floors, and original pine interior. The dining room table seats ten, did I mention the BABY GRAND PIANO? Although the home was built in the 50's, I have remodeled and upgraded the home specifically for vacation renters in mind. The character of the home is still in tact, with a history in the valley of one of the original homes built in Mohawk Valley.

Expectations exceeded!

Great house. Beautiful setting. 4 spacious bedrooms, plus the multiple-bed loft; and a large dining room table for our group. Everyone agreed a return trip a must!

Perfect spot for the wedding weekend

  • 5 of 5

Recently my daughter got married at the Corner Barn in Graeagle. I needed a spot for 13 and this home exceeded our expectations. Located in Clio, it was a short distance to Graeagle, and so peaceful. The home was beautifully appointed and so comfortable. It was extremely warm during our stay, but we were able to control the inside temperature by raising and lowering the window shades. There is an AC in the loft and we were able to strategically place fans to pull the cool air through the house. Overall there was a wonderful flow to the house which allowed for people to spread out or come together, and the three bathrooms were an added bonus. My adult children thoroughly enjoyed playing frisbee in the expansive backyard. This home is the perfect setting for large groups. I can't say enough nice things about the hostess, Johna. She was so easy to work with, and very responsive to all of our inquiries.

Spacious, peaceful country house

  • 5 of 5

This house worked well for our family gathering of 8 adults and 5 children. It's spacious and well laid out. The views are charming and deer stroll the neighborhood. The ping pong table was a great surprise. Washer and dryer very helpful. We enjoyed the nearby town and state park. Only improvement we could suggest is new mattresses as these were way too soft for all of us. We never were bothered by noise from nearby highway 89.

Fun holiday weekend

  • 5 of 5

Johna was there to greet us hello and goodbye. The house was very comfortable, clean and plenty of room for the extended family. The huge yard overlooking the meadow, what a beautiful sight! Hot tub was a hit on a perfect 4th of July evening. Short trip into Graeagle for horseback riding, kayaking, parade and a wonderful dinner at the Iron Door in Johnsville. We are looking forward to returning soon, this time for the office retreat.

Hidden Gem in Graeagle

  • 5 of 5

The home is truly a hidden gem in Graeagle. The home easily fit our two families (10 total) with a room to spare. The kids could run and play in the snow while the adults relaxed in the wonderful accommodations within. Being in close proximity to downtown (Graeagle and Blairsden) was a bonus as restaurants and groceries were only a short drive away. It was a New Year's to remember for us, and we'll be back, thank you!
