Tucked just one home from the sand in the private, gated community of Bayberry Dunes in North Bethany, this recently updated beach retreat blends modern style with laid-back coastal charm.  The kitchen was completely renovated in 2023, and the entire home is filled with beachy vibes and curated local artwork.  The open-concept living area is flooded with natural light and offers partial ocean views through oversized windows.  Step out onto the large deck or relax on the screened-in porch - perfect spots for morning coffee, evening grilling, or catching up with friends and family after a day on the beach.

Need a break from the beach?  Explore the Indian River Inlet just minutes away with fishing, crabbing, and a full-service marina.  Or hop on your bike and take the Fresh Pond Nature Trail through scenic coastal woods.  It is not unusual to see dolphins in the ocean and deer on the trail during a walk.  Downtown Bethany is only 2.5 miles away.  Close enough for ice cream runs and dinner out, but far enough for peace and quiet.

It pains me to write this review, as I’ve stayed in VRBOs worldwide and never had issues. First the good. The location is excellent, the house itself is cute, and Valerie from the real estate company was lovely to work with. That said, several aspects of the rental left us really disappointed. We also own and rent out another property in the area, (it was being used for a family wedding) so we know the standards one can and should have when renting a home here.Guests are required to bring their own sheets, bath towels, beach towels, and even beach chairs—something I’ve never experienced at a VRBO before. Check-in and check-out also involve trips to the real estate office rather than the house, which adds unnecessary inconvenience and time away from your vacation!!!Cleanliness and upkeep could be improved. One bed had no mattress cover. (we went out and bought one, even left it for others to not have to purchase). The screened porch had cobwebs, dirty screens, and a hanging dead bug strip that should have been swapped out. (disgusting)The dishwasher is also poorly fitted which inhibited us from using it for fear of breaking it. Most surprising, there wasn’t a single roll of toilet paper in the house, despite decorative bows on the toilets? The absence of even one roll for arriving guests felt careless.This home has great potential, but it feels like the owners are complacent. With more attention to guest comfort and basic standards, it could be a truly wonderful rental.

Very Pleased

This beach house has a nice beachy feel without being over the top. We have a large family, but the home is roomy enough for us. The beds are comfortable, the open floor plan on the living level is convenient, and the screened porch and deck are great.
