This place was very cute and cozy. It is located in a very neat area with a lot to do and check out. I would definitely suggest giving it a try if you are looking for a cute getaway
Wonderful accommodations overlooking the downtown area. Quiet neighborhood nestled above the railroad but the trains were a welcomed sound and not too loud at all. The house was clean, well stocked, and recently remodeled but still had that turn of the century charm we were hoping for. Easy check in, check out. Great place to stay in Staunton.
The Sparrow is most charming and the host was most hospitable. We were close to the lovely town of Staunton and the master bedroom & bath were very comfortable!
The Sparrow was superb, clean, well-equipped, charming, reasonably priced and close to downtown.
Such a great weekend staying at The Sparrow in Staunton. Perfect place for a girlfriend’s getaway!
The owners stayed in touch before and during our stay. They were so hospitable!! Will definitely be back!

Thank you for coming to stay and for being so sweet! We appreciate you! Come back anytime!
We loved our stay at the Sparrow! Communication was flawless, Sparrow was clean and fresh! Close in proximity to all things fun in Staunton -but as others mentioned at the tip top of very steep hill! Bring your walking shoes! Thank you for a great few days!
Sparrow House is comfy, cozy and well cared for. Close walk to town for dinner and shopping, or great jump off spot for vineyards and outdoor recreation. Highly recommend.
We loved staying in this cute little house tucked away at the top of the hill behind the train station (two adults, 2 kids 8 and 10). Very walkable to the downtown shops and restaurants- we barely used our car while we were there, except one grocery run. The walk does include some steep climbs in both directions but we loved the view from the park over the whole town and hills beyond. The hosts were extremely helpful before and during our stay. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay and feel you did a great job renovating the old house named the Sparrow (Bob Vila would be proud). Appreciate the snack basket, the snacks were great! And appreciated the k-cups of coffee. The house was very clean and cozy. It was nice to have the park nearby so my husband could walk the dog in the morning and in the evening. Also, short walk over the foot bridge to the restaurants and brewery downtown Staunton. Great location! We were greeted by an orange kitty cat with a clipped ear which means the organization TNR (trapped, neutered and released) have neutered the cat and have vaccinated and returned it to the neighborhood from which it was found. They are called Community Cats. Very sweet, loveable cat and we enjoyed her visits. A half bath upstairs would make this place ideal. Nice quiet and restful stay and access to the outdoors and the city!
Four of us (two couples) spent three nights at this cottage while we attended the local Shakespeare festival. The house was in a terrific location, just a short walk from town but far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful at night. The property was immaculate, and the front and back porches were as nice a place to rest and relax as was the living room. The kitchen was provisioned with everything we might need, and the owners left us a welcome basket of sweet and savory treats to enjoy. When we come back next year, we will certainly stay here again.
My husband and I stayed here over a long weekend to explore the Staunton area and it worked out nicely. The owners were always very on top of communication, kind, and accommodating. Everything in the home was decorated well, and functioned well for 2 people who like to save a bit and do breakfast in the house and have some leftovers around after eating out. The location was close to downtown and we walked practically everywhere in the downtown area from the house. It does sit atop a pretty steep hill, with a couple block walk on the opposing side to above the train station and down some stairs. Worked out well for us since we like to walk places if possible, but it may be a challenge for someone who wants to walk but needs flat ground. Would stay here again!
This was an ideal rental for our family of four. The cottage is located in close proximity to Woodrow Park, which provides a walking bridge to cross the railroad tracks and venture into the historic downtown district on foot. The hosts were super nice and had all the lights on in the house when we arrived late in the evening; there was no fumbling in the dark to punch in the lock code or enter the house, which we very much appreciated. This was probably the cleanest VRBO rental we’ve ever booked, as well. The whole house was spotless. We hope to be back as soon as the American Shakespeare Center performs MacBeth. Highly recommend!
We loved The Sparrow and it proximacy to everything we needed. The cottage was very clean and adorable and all the utinsels needed to cook were available. It was nice to walk to the historic downtown and feel safe doing so. We highly recommend The Sparrow to other travelers.
