About this property
Nostalgic Retreat on Sahara Creek - 8mi to MRNP!
🌲Just 8 miles to the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Rainier NP! Our secluded cabin borders acres of State Forest, making it the perfect retreat. After a day of exploring, cozy up by the wood stove, play board games, Super Nintendo, read from the mini-library, or watch a VHS movie! Bring the nostalgia to life!
✨Welcome to Paradise Park House✨
The main floor offers a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a separate full bathroom with a bathtub/shower. Feeling adventurous? Climb the ladder to the loft, where two cozy single beds await. A fun retreat for kids or those wanting to relive summer camp days. Stay warm with the electric wall heater or gather around the wood-burning stove for that classic cabin feel. Fully-equipped kitchen* and plenty of seating for everyone! (*dishwasher not included- so retro chic ☺️)
✨The Details: We offer complimentary Wifi and a starter bundle of firewood to make your stay as stress-free as possible! And the kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, olive oil, vegetable oil, salt and pepper, and individual packets of condiments, so you can worry about the big stuff like ...did you bring your hiking boots!
🏕️This cabin is one of two that we host; both situated at the end of a small community of cabins (5 cabins including these two). The community is surrounded by 1,000+ acres of Elbe Hills State Forest for your exploration and total serenity. There is a State Road that you can walk (or four-wheel) about a mile long and it will take you all the way to a "beach" on the Nisqually River. The other direction takes you towards Ashford, but is a bit more overgrown and longer.
🍃On the property, both cabins share the "meadow space" and tree-fort with the slide. Apart from that, each cabin faces a different direction and offer plenty of privacy even though they are within about 30 yards of each other. It's the best of both worlds whether you rent just one of the cabins and want some privacy, or if you want to rent out both cabins for a larger get-together and have separate spaces.
Both cabins have waterfront creek view about half of the year when the Sahara Creek runs (November to June). The rest of the year, the creek bed is dry and surrounded by greenery & wildflowers 🌿
🔑Guests will receive their keyless entry code and check-in instructions for the cabin via Airbnb messages & text the day prior to their check-in.
🚗There is one parking spot available for this cabin. We also offer over-flow parking across the creek as well. If you need to use the overflow parking, there is a footbridge to come across without taking the road the long way around. The drive-way is shared between the two cabins on-site, but they have separate parking spots which are clearly marked. (Please do not park or drive on the grass.)
🚦Our driveway exits to a State road which gets very little traffic from vehicles. Otherwise, getting around in this area is dependent on a car in most situations, unless of course you are horseback or backpacking. If you like to off-road, there is Elbe Hills ORV Park only a 10-15 min drive away from the cabin.
🛻4WD/AWD is highly recommended during snowy or icy conditions.
👭Our hosting team is made up of Ashley and Melissa of the Happy Hotelier. We work as a team to ensure our guests have a seamless customer experience while staying with us. Please reach out using the platform unless it is urgent. Then please feel free to call Ashley directly.
Nestled at the base of Mt. Rainier, Ashford and Elbe are two quaint towns surrounded by wilderness. Hiking, horseback riding, mountaineering, mountain biking, boating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding are just a few of the activities waiting for you! We love this location because it showcases the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer in outdoor adventures!
✨This listing has been a favorite of Ashford guests for several years! We welcome you to experience the difference!
✅We offer same-day bookings! ✅We are happy to accommodate early check-ins and late check-outs if we have the capacity, so please just reach out for details! 🐾We love animals, but our vacation rentals are not able to accommodate pets.
👣NEW! Ask how to Book a BIGFOOT ADVENTURE TOUR and receive 10% OFF** (Tours are seasonal and run April-September)
🦌The local deer population frequently walk through the front and back yards of the home. While enjoying the magic of their presence, we ask that you please maintain a respectful distance from them and thank you for your cooperation in keeping the wildlife safe and wild.
🔌Due to our rural location, we aren't able to offer refunds due to WIFI and power outages. While outages are not uncommon, they are usually very brief (under 4 hours). We offer a wood burning fireplace w/ wood and gas cooking as well as a charcoal bbq for cooking.
🌧️Weather & Cancellation Policy We do not offer refunds or reservation changes due to inclement weather or personal travel delays. The only exception is if a mandatory evacuation order is issued by the National Weather Service, the City of Ashford, or Pierce or Lewis County emergency services. If no mandatory evacuation is in place, all reservations remain non-refundable, even if guests choose to leave early or are unable to complete their stay.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! It was perfectly situated in the woods – it felt private but was close to everything we needed (including the mountain!). We loved all the little cozy details and the collection of tapes and movies. We also liked that there was easy access to nature, and we were able to have a nice walk in the woods close to the cabin. We hope to come back again :)

Hi Allie!
Can you believe it’s been almost a year -
Since you stayed in our cabin so cozy and dear?
Tucked in the woods by the river so wide,
Where peace and fresh air always reside.
We loved hosting you and would love it again,
To welcome you back like a familiar friend.
Whether for rest or a little retreat,
Our cabin’s still here—serene and sweet!
Let us know if you’d like to return—
The firewood’s stacked, and ready to burn.
Warm wishes,
The Happy Hotelier

Cabin had everything we needed for our two day stay and was clean and well appointed. Location was convenient to the national park. Owners provided many games/books/videos for entertainment and thoughtful suggestions for things to do in the area.
Cute & cozy. Clean. Convenient to the entrance of Mt. Rainier. Lots of activites for kids (indoors & outdoors) to keep them busy. Would highly recommend.

We’d love to have you back anytime you’re headed to Mt. Rainier again! 🌲😊
What a great little cabin! An easy drive into Mt. Rainier National park, perfectly situated in a quiet little meadow away from the busy park traffic. The house had everything we needed for our family of four to cook dinner and have coffee on the porch. Ashley was a great host and communication was easy! We will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by Ashley Sprecher
Our small family began The Happy Hotelier because we love staying at unique vacation properties for ourselves. Personally having been in property management for the past 10+ years, it just made sense for us to make the transition to becoming hosts ourselves.
Why they chose this property
We love this property which hosts two cabins, each sleeping 4, because it offers a chance to stay in one or both cabins. They are situated in a way that both cabins feel very private, but are close enough to enjoy the meadow, creek, and local activities together.
What makes this property unique
Having both cabins and the meadow there, we allow events on site. Our properties are two of five cabins in our small neighborhood which is surrounded by 1000+ acres of State Forest for your exploration. There is a great sense of seclusion and peace when you visit here. The trickling of the seasonal creek and the sound of the rain on the metal roof is comforting even when the weather is blustery.
