Oxford Circus 2 bed 2 bath NEWLY REFURBISHED Apartment.

Bedrooms 2
Space 700 sq ft
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 1 - 8 nights

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

This two bedroomed newly-built penthouse maisonette occupies the top two floors of a charming Edwardian terraced house moments from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus. It has been with VRBO since 2003. The apartment was totally refurbished with a new floor and roof built onto where there was a once a butterfly roof. There was a family on a long let for the whole of 2017 and now the property is back on VRBO.

When looking at the reviews, only the ones from 2017 are for guests who have stayed since the massive refurb and rebuild.

This stunning super sunny maisonette flat is right in the heart of Fitzrovia yet super quiet due to new insulation and brand new double-glazed sash windows.

This apartment was the subject of a 10-month refurbishment in 2016 and now features four large remote-controlled and rain-sensitive sky lights, wall-mounted smart LG TVs in both bedrooms, bathroom underfloor heating in both bathrooms, and a wall-mounted 50 inch 4k Ultra Samsung HD TV in the living room.

It benefits from a brand U-shaped new cashmere gloss handleless kitchen with in-built Siemens fridge, Bosch freezer, Neff dishwasher, Siemens washer-dryer, Samsung induction hob and Bosch oven.  Complete with white quartz solid stone worktop and oversized stainless steel sink as well as carousel corner unit.

There is also a white extendable dining table, four chairs and a large sofa, armchair and pouffe to rest your feet on after a day's walking around the cobbled streets of London.

The two bedrooms feature one bed each, and in-built bespoke mirrored wardrobes with integrated automatic lighting, Anglepoise bedside lamps, oversized cushioned headboards, deep memory foam mattresses and 32 inch LG smart TVs. Like with hotels, you can switch the bedside lights as you enter each bedroom.

The property benefits from a brand new colour LCD video entry system (available on each floor) and a newly installed gas central heating system with each radiator indepdendently controlled if needed.

All the windows are brand new double-glazed secondary sash windows and have custom-fitted slate grey black out blinds for the ultimate sleep.

Both bathrooms are fully-height tiled with underfloor heating, Duravit fittings and touch sensitive LED lit bathroom cabinets (just gently wave your hand underneath the bottom right hand corner of each cabinet for the different light settings). The main bathroom has a heated towel rail. Both bathrooms have rain showers.

The staircase features LED lighting at step level with adjustable colours to light up the steps as you walk up to the upper floor.

This penthouse maisonette is located in the very heart of Central London's quiet Fitzrovia district and so, within walking distance from Oxford Circus, Oxford Street, Regent Street, New Bond Street, Soho, Covent Garden, and London's Theatre District, as well as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, National and Tate Galleries, 10 Downing Street, Parliament Buildings, Big Ben, Royal Academy, and many other tourist attractions.

There's a wide choice of restaurants, bars, bustling cafés, bistros, pubs and shopping amenities 'on the doorstep.'

The two local underground (subway) stations, Oxford Circus and Great Portland Street are just five minute's walk away, providing quick and easy access to all other parts of London. The Great Portland Street stop is on the same underground line as Paddington where the Heathrow Express train terminates, enabling you to get to London's Heathrow Airport in half hour from Gosfield Street. Taxis are also plentiful within the area. You'll literally be able to wave one down around the corner, if need be at any time of day or night. You'll only be about 5 minutes away from an Uber car if you desire.

The West End is extremely vibrant, packed with colourful, breathtaking history and, as there's always plenty to see and do whatever the time of year, people flock to the area.

As well as being famous for a host of well-known tourist attractions, the neighbourhood is also surrounded by dozens of shops as you'd expect with it being right in the heart of Central London's West End.

The new BBC HQ is just one minute's walk away and you can often catch free performances and recordings right on its outdoor piazza or grab a coffee from the BBC Café Nero as you watch them set up for an outside broadcast/rehearsal.

Gosfield Street is conveniently located between the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus and the tranquility of Regent's Park and is a quiet side street. The apartment was my first residence in Central London and I have plenty of happy heart-warming memories of living there for almost a decade which is why I preferred not to sell it but to keep it so that others could make their own memories.

Layout: My Gosfield Street apartment is on two levels with both bathrooms and bedrooms on the second level and living area and kitchen on the top vaulted-roof floor.

The master bedroom features a 30 cm deep memory foam UK king ottoman bed, high thread count sheets and double wardrobe with LED strip lighting

The other bedroom featuring a UK double bed and fitted wardrobe.

Oak flooring covers all the floors apart from the staircase and landing which are newly carpetted.

NB: Most of the reviews before 2016 are for the flat as it used to be - a 3 bed 1 bath flat. It has since been totally remodelled during all of 2016 with a long let in 2017. It is back on the short let market as a new flat in 2018.

About Anita

Gosfield Street Apartment Holiday Rental

Anita purchased this apartment in 1991

Why Anita chose Fitzrovia

This was actually once my own home before it became a vacation rental and it's just been subject to a complete refurbishment with the addition of a brand new floor built on its roof, so has the latest fittings and fixtures including smart TVs and remote-contolled sky lights as well as amazing sound insulation.

What makes this apartment unique

It's close to everything! Oxford Circus, Oxford Street, Regent's Park, Marylebone, everywhere. You are in the heart of Central London at this address yet it's very quiet!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Gosfield St. is the perfect location for anyone who wants to feel like a Londoner, but have easy access to all the local tourist attractions. The flat itself, is a charming two story with comfy furniture and beds. The view out the front windows is the perfect London street scene. My daughters and I stayed for a week in July 2007, and we enjoyed everything about this fabulous little find.

Lovely property in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights in this location on a family trip to London - a 4 year old, a 6 year old, and two parents. It was a lovely home base for the week!

- The location was a great home base for exploring London. Close to 2 tube stops including Oxford Circus, yet on a quiet residential street without street or pub or club noise at all.

- The rooms were generously sized, from good bedrooms to nice bathrooms to a proper upstairs greatroom.

- It was wonderful having a full kitchen plus washer and dryer - we didn't come home with loads of laundry and were able to eat real meals a few times.

- I liked having the living room upstairs away from the bedrooms, so if someone was up early or late, there was plenty of space to relax.

- It is up multiple flights of stairs. If you have issues with stairs, this isn't the place for you. I had to put something here, but it was incredibly minor! You'll be very happy.

Owner's Response: It was lovely to meet and host you and your beautiful family! Thanks for choosing this apartment. It was once my home, so am glad it was your home too whilst you were in London. I agree with you on the steps, the apartment is on the top floors - the third and fourth floors but once you're up there, it's worth it. The sunlight and airy feel from the large brand new double-glazed skylights is quite serene. Hope to see you again soon.

Great place to stay in central London

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 loved staying at this apartment in July. We were two adults with two children aged 11 and 14. The apartment is in a wonderful location, walkable to many, many restaurants, shops, buses, tube, museums. It is large and airy and the furniture is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is modern and everything works very well. We were able to spread out and feel as though we lived in London. In fact, we were a bit too comfortable and sometimes did not get going as early as we should have in the mornings. The only negative for us was that the bathroom is on a different floor from the bedrooms. This was not a very big deal and if you don't mind steps to run to the loo in the night, it's nothing. The owner was very responsive and reachable. The washer worked great. No complaints. We would absolutely stay here again.

A Key Part Of Our Great London Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed in this Fitzrovia flat for a week in July. It is midway down a narrow one way street so it was quiet for good sleeping, even with the windows open (which makes for a nice summertime breeze through the house). It is a great base for exploring London, being no more than a few minutes walk from two different Underground stations. In the neighborhood are several markets, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and city bicycle stands. The flat has all the basics for a family to settle in for vacation time. Our teenagers loved having their own room and we found the living room big enough that the four of us were not on top of each other. The television, wifi and phone all worked without a hitch and we soon got the hang (pun intended) of using the Victorian clothes dryer after we ran a few loads in the washer. Anita was very responsive, answered every one of our pre-arrival questions and was easily reachable during our visit. We feel our children had much more of an authentic London experience by being in this Oxford Circus flat than being in a generic hotel room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, feel it was a good value and would definitely stay there again. Thank you, Anita, for such a great place.

Would love to come back!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this great apartment for 5 nights in May and had an absolutely wonderful experience. We were four adults so having three full size bedrooms on the second floor and ample living space on the first allowed us all to be very comfortable. The apartment was very well equipped with all conveniences at hand. It is a quiet apartment in a very active neighborhood, with shops, pubs, restaurants all very close. When you walk out the door you are within easy reach by foot or subway to all of London. Overall an excellent experience, which we hope to repeat someday.

Ideal location! Great property! Phenomenal owner!

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from a fabulous first trip to London, as well as our first time using a VRBO property, and I'm pleased to say I hope to be doing both again in the future.

The Gosfield property was absolutely perfect for us ( 2 daughters in theirs 20's, hubby and I) during our 8 night stay. We found ourselves referring to it as "home" very soon after our arrival. The girls were thrilled to each have their own rooms. I thought the 1 bathroom might be an issue as we are spoiled Americans, but really was not a problem at all.

We couldn't have asked for a better location. Weather was perfect and we love to walk... So grocery stores, restaurants, pubs, tube stations, bus stops, parks, shopping, EVERYTHING was nearby or easily accessible by public transportation, which is quite easy.

The kitchen is on the small side, as others have mentioned, but we just ate breakfast at the apartment and then headed out for a full day of sightseeing, and returned in the evening after dinner. There are plenty of "take away" restaurants, as they say, nearby, if you are interested. Anita provides you with a VERY comprehensive list of everything in the area and about the apartment.

The street is very narrow, so there is minimal traffic, and very quiet. You DO NOT need to rent a car in London. Public transportation is superb. We also felt very safe in the area...... Even when I was running to the grocery store at 22:45, I had no concerns at all.

WiFi was excellent, and great for planning our adventures for the next day.

In addition to all the positives about the Gosfield property, I do have to mention how wonderful it was to deal with Anita for our first VRBO experience. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were well informed about everything related to the flat, the area, our contract, our responsibilities, etc. She always responded promptly to my NUMEROUS questions, and never made me feel like I was inconveniencing her in any way.

I asked my kids and husband if they would want to stay there again if/when we return to London some day and they all agreed that we was so much nicer then staying in a hotel.

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife, three daughters (ages 14, 12 and 8) and I had a very nice 4 night stay on Gosling Street. Other than the Tower of London and a couple other places, we generally walked everywhere we wanted. The apartment is actually on two floors, which we really enjoyed as it broke up the sleeping and living areas a bit and made it seem a bit more spacious. The apartment is on a fairly quiet street and the local pubs generally shut down at a reasonable hour so we found it to be very quiet by the time we were getting to bed. The only items I would raise is that the kitchen is small and lightly supplied so if you are planning on a longer stay or really love to cook, you will be a bit underwhelmed. Additionally I thought we'd be OK with only one bathroom but with a wife and three daughters, scheduling showers turned out to be a bit more difficult than I anticipated. But if you're willing to live with those small inconveniences, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment. Anita was very helpful and responsive to all of our pre-arrival questions and was nice enough to inform us ahead of our arrival that construction had started nearby and offered to refund our full deposit if we were worried about it. I very much appreciated the offer and am glad we declined to take her up on it because we barely heard anything and would have missed out on a wonderful apartment.
