About this property

Cozy & charming pet friendly home near U of A campus & Banner UMC hospital

Enjoy a comfortable and quintessential Tucson stay at this centrally located 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home.

After nearly 2 years as a long term rental, the Edison House is back! Decorated with the quirkiness and charm of the "Old Pueblo" in mind, it’s in a prime location to enjoy all the city has to offer. You'll be within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and Banner UMC hospital, and a short drive or bike ride to the University of Arizona, 4th Avenue, downtown, hiking trails, and more.

Please note that the home is located in an active neighborhood close to a busy intersection. Noise is typically not an issue, but because of the nature of the neighborhood, we provide earplugs for those who are particularly sound sensitive.

Every ounce of this home is an ode to Tucson — featuring work from local artists and touches that are specific to the charisma of the Southwest. The 1937-built Edison House was recently renovated and boasts numerous upgrades, while still maintaining its historic feel.

The expansive backyard is an ideal place to enjoy a beautiful desert morning or sunset with friends and family, and includes a desert-inspired mural by a local artist, covered patio, fire pit, and charcoal grill. The covered patio is set with outdoor seating and bistro lights — making it a comfortable spot to enjoy with loved ones.

The house can sleep 6, but is also great for couples and smaller groups. It is also pet friendly.

The primary bedroom has a queen bed and a private attached bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The 2nd bedroom has two twin beds and is located next to a shared bathroom, and the 3rd bedroom has a full bed that can easily fit two. The living room includes a futon that sleeps one.

The living and dining space has a dining table that seats six and a large flat-screen TV with Roku, Netflix, and retro gaming consoles. And the fully stocked kitchen includes every essential for cooking and baking.

By the door to the backyard you’ll find the laundry nook, and in the hallway closet we have extra towels and other amenities such as an iron and ironing board, laundry detergent, and more.

While we allow infants, young children, and pets to stay at the Edison House, please note that it is not child proof and you will need to keep an eye on your children and pets at all times. For young ones there are typical hazards within the home and outside. Do not leave pets in the backyard unaccompanied as we live in the desert and hawks, snakes, and other wildlife could pose a threat.

Wonderful visit to Tucson

We were very pleased with our stay at the Jefferson Park house. It was a perfect central location for our activities which included Mt. Lemmon, Tanque Verde Falls, and dining at restaurants in the downtown area. The house was quiet and clean, and the back yard offered a nice place for our small dog.

My family and I attended an event at the UofA during our stay. The house was only minutes by uber to the campus. It was a great location for our trip. The home itself was very charming. Looks to be recently remodeled. The owners have thought of everything. It was a very lovely home. We will stay again tge next time we are in Tucson.

The Edison house is a great family house, Julia is a great host who is responsive & thoughtful!

We spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Tucson visiting our daughter who is a freshman at U of A. There were five people and two dogs and we all were very comfortable and had plenty of space to spread out. The home was very clean and everything was ready for our stay. My wife really liked how the house was decorated and that it was remodeled. Our girls said they slept really well and like how comfy the beds were, along with solid wifi. My son liked that there was a play station that he could get his video game fix. I liked the location of the house to the U of A campus as well as other things like coffee shops, restaurants, and stores. Lastly, our dogs really enjoyed the large backyard, we also enjoyed sitting out in both the covered patio and around the fire pit. Julia was a great host who communicated and was very responsive from the beginning to the end. The check-in and check-out instructions were simple and easy to follow. I really appreciated the simple check-out instructions, the last thing you want to do at the end of your stay is jump through a bunch of hoops. Julia made sure we had her contact information if we had questions or needed a recommendation, which we appreciated. I would recommend this house for families or people with pets. We will be checking to see if this house is available on our next trip down to Tucson!

About the host

Hosted by Julia Van Valkenburg

Host profile image
My husband and I were born and raised in Tucson, AZ, and live there now with our two rescue dogs. We spent most of our twenties living in Los Angeles and consider California to be our second home.

We love to travel, spend time outdoors, and relax with our friends and family.

Why they chose this property

We love Tucson, which is why we filled our home with little touches specific to the Southwest.

Located in the vibrant and historic Jefferson Park neighborhood, the Edison House is just north of The University of Arizona campus, walking distance to Banner UMC hospital, and just a few minutes from 4th Avenue, downtown Tucson, and many outdoor attractions.

This home is the perfect location for visiting travel nurses and medical professionals, students, professors, families, and more!

What makes this property unique

One of the most unique features of the Edison House is a desert-inspired mural in the backyard, created by local artist and muralist Keegan Rider. The large backyard also has plenty of room to relax by a fire, enjoy the shade under the covered patio, or grill!
