The owner is very kind. There is plenty of room in the kitchen and dining room to hang out with the family. Good number of bedrooms and a nice bathroom on the second floor. Close to downtown Woods Hole and Falmouth.
When my family and I arrived at our rental, which is listed as, “Beautiful Antique walk to Quissett Harbor & Shining Sea Bike Path,” what we found was not, “a charming antique, perfect for relaxation & gatherings of friends,” but a broken down house that is in disrepair and can only be described as ramshackle. It’s unethical for the owner to charge $1,000 a night for this property, which is at best worthy of half this price.
The backyard, which in the ad for the house was described as “a garden” with a “play area” and “BBQ”, is decrepit, with a fence that looked like it had fallen down a decade or more ago. It’s a dramatic site to behold. There is a picnic table but it has mold and moss growing on its bench seats. The earth is hard scrabble, fallow, with a lot of decayed organic matter from the surrounding trees. The BBQ was dirty and full of old, half burned charcoal briquettes, with a half burned briquette bag and a dirty, greasy grill.
The overhang above the entry door has wood rot and appears to be collapsing. This is a hazard because if the rotten wood falls, it will hit someone entering or exiting the house.
At first, what we eventually realized was the entry door, did not appear to be the door at all. The screen door on the entry appeared to be covered by white scum and it is disgusting. We were hesitant to touch it so I put on gloves to open the door. We all questioned if we were in the right place and were hesitant to enter. It smelled musty and moldy and I ima

This is a retaliation review which is full of lies because the guest could not get a price reduction by threatening me nor a refund by complaining to VRBO since the photos taken when he was on-site proved that his allegations were not substantiated. This guest booked for 1, brought 7, and is angry he was unsuccessful in getting a price reduction through insults & threats. This historical antique house has character which is typically appreciated by our guests. It is not trendy/new but it is clean with updated kitchen & baths. The old screen door is simply that- old, so the screen is silver/gray in color, but by no means "covered in scum". They were upset that the outdoor shower did not have an enclosure, but never asked about it before arrival. The house is surrounded by tall beautiful old trees creating a canopy of shade which does make the grass growth thin & moss thrive. Both the back & front yards are in order & not beautifully landscaped, nor described as "a garden", but certainly adequate. The picnic table is plastic/faux wood, so the grooves do have natural weathering from moss but the eating surface was cleaned with soap & Clorox the day before they arrived. The fence did fall over in the back yard this summer but takes up no more than 3' of the yard and is not near the house, we are awaiting contractors to repair. The photos show the house as it is & we are happy to send more photos at any time to anyone.
