About The Owner

My husband and I live in Minnesota. We have been vacationing in Arizona for many years, years ago we came upon the area of San Tan Valley and Johnson Ranch and liked it so well this is where we come in the winter. We have rented many vacation homes in the past years of vacationing, so when we purchased this property for a vacation rental we tried to put all our years of experience into making our home pleasant and comfortable for our guests. We enjoy golfing, hiking, biking, and ATV trips out in the dessert and just relaxing in our yard with friends and a beer.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

What makes this house unique

Quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Enjoying hot tubbing, a fire in the fire pit and roasting hotdogs. Enjoying the warm weather and starlit nights in Arizona away from the cold. Picking fresh oranges and grapefruit from the fruit trees in our backyard.

Only pleasant surprises

  • 5 of 5

House was in excellent condition. All beds were INCREDIBLE! The house was well stocked with what one would expect for a comfortable stay. A large comfortable, well maintained back yard.

We will definitely consider coming back to stay here again. I would recommend this house to family, friends, or anyone.

Thank you for an awesome vacation in your beautiful rental home.

  • 5 of 5

We had a most wonderful time staying at your beautiful rental house in March of 2012. It's a nice as the photos on-line that were shown to us. Our group of friends enjoyed 4-wheeling the beautiful Arizonia dessert at the time the dessert was coming to life blooming with cacti plants and wild flowers. Your tour guide, Dean, was very knowledgeable of the area mountains trails and other area information. We got to enjoy the nearby 18-hole "The Links" golf course having a wonderful time. Going out for ribs at the Sand Tan Flats was as delicious as you mentioned and would reccomend for all to go early for a fun night. We traveled into the city of Mesa and went to see (wintering in Arizonia) the Branson act "The Duttson Family" four-generation muscial act. We had greats laughs grilling in your back yard, playing horse shoes, relaxing in the hot tub and gathering around a bone-fire enjoying each others stories. It was peaceful sleeping in your new comfy beds. We were amazed by all the your kitchen eminities available for us to use. It really felt like home away from home. Thank you again, we will gladly spread the word to our friends and family to make their next vacation at your Johnson Ranch Vacation home.

Owner's Response: We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in our home and to hear of the highlights of your trip. Arizona has a lot to offer guests, 4 wheeling on the many trails is something alot of people cannot take advantage of unless they know the area and the trails. Being out in the desert with all the cacti and beautiful flowers blooming in the spring of the year is just awesome. There are trail guides & 4 wheeler rentals available in Florence, which is just 15 miles from Johnson Ranch, if you do not have a 4 wheeler or want a guide for the day. Golfing at many of the area golf courses is a day to day sport for golfers in mind. San Tan Flat is a great place to eat, come "early" for great food especially the ribs! If the ribs are gone, their menu has many other entrees. The margarita's are very tasty, they have their secret recipe. You should try one! Mesa has theaters and plays to attend for an enjoyable evening out, "The Duttson Family" musical is very professional & entertaining by all the members of their family, from 3 years of age to the parents of this family. The mothers story of how all this started is she sent them to music lessons for discipline as their family was close in age and kept growing. Of course with music lessons comes a musical family of some type, a must see, if you have the time. Our guests can enjoy the backyard for games, relaxation around a campfire and roasting hot dogs or marshmellows, or just sitting in the hot tub under the stars after a warm day in Arizona. We want our guests to have the feeling of being home away from home, as our home is their home. Hope to have you back again soon, bring others along to enjoy sunny Arizona, desert adventures, day trips and capture memories for a lifetime.

Much better than a hotel and oh so nice to go back to at night.

The house was amazing better than even than we could have wished for. The photo's exactly what they showed. The home was spotless and I don't have to recommend the property to any of my family as there were 8 of us there at times and everyone of us would go back. No one wanted to leave. I would however recommend this property to everyone I know. We took advantage of the golf course everyday. We found Walgreens and Fry's really handy. We also visited the Olive Mill. It is a really interesting place. I would have liked to stay longer but I had three people in there 80's and my mom is blind so it was a little much for them. However they did enjoy it. For my final comment, I can not wait to go back.

Owner's Response: Lynda: We are very delighted you had enjoyed your time at our home and found it comfy and pleasant for your family. We always like to hear from our guests and hear of their vacation memories and thoughts, not only of our home but of the fun things you did while visiting. Hoping you can return to our home in the future and enjoy golfing and more of the attractions in the area. The Olive Mill is a fun place to visit and purchase their wonderful items. I recommend a visit there to our guests. Thank you for your review!!

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We visited in Winter 2010/11. The house was spacious with huge beds. The kids enjoyed the track. However, there was a bee infestation in the attic and for several days they could not play outside and we had to make sure they didnt step on any dead bees. The dogs barking at night was non-stop. Also, when we received our deposit we were charged 100 Dollars for installing child locks (which we most certainly would NOT do), breaking a plate (again, whoever did inventory before we arrived was not very efficient), and leaving excess CRUMBS. In other words, make sure you really clean before the cleani g people or you will be charged for extra time. Also note, this is far far out of the valley if you want to visit the Phoenix area. My family did enjoy a very unique outdoor grill called San Tan Flats-not to be missed. Wish we had gone there sooner!

Owner's Response: In response to your review, the bee infestation in the attic was something we had no control over. The bee removing company explained that bees do move in homes where there is not much activity in the warmer months of the year in Arizona. When we were informed of the bee infestation in the attic we acted immediately to find personnel in this profession to remove the bees from the home as soon as he could. He was very responsive to our request and at a great expense. The dogs barking at night in the neighborhood is not our problem, when we have visited the home the dogs would not be barking non-stop as the renter indicated maybe once in awhile a dog would bark and another dog would hear it and bark back, but we never have seen this as a problem. When our house manager and housekeepers report to us the excess dirt, grime and finger marks on the walls and furniture around the home from small children, marker, paint or crayon usage by children that is visible and the extra hours of cleaning, washing walls, and floors we need to pay them for their extra time in cleaning and getting the home ready for the next people, so therefore we deducted the extra cleaning time money from their damage deposit. When we visited the home I myself found marker or crayon marks on the floor and had to scrub them off. Dish breakage is always possible in a home suggestion would be to leave a note if something was broke. When renting a home you should always look to see where the location of the home is for your vacation experience, if it is not convenient then a suggestion is to look for a home closer to your destination. Our home is out of Phoenix about 45 minutes, and we enjoy being away from the big city, all the busy roads, traffic, and people. We want to be out where it is quiet, a few miles from the mountains for recreation, hiking, and just enjoying the quiet life. We have rented many vacation homes we always made sure the home was left neat and clean, the excess dirt from living in a home for a week or more was cleaned up before we left. We wish you as a renter would have expressed your comments personally rather than reviewing our home two months after you have left. We have a very nice home in Arizona and have had many positive comments in our travel journal in our home and emails of all the fun others had while visiting our home, touring around, and wanting to come back again. We apologize for your inconvenience you experienced while staying at our home.
