About The Owner

My Family lives in Fairfield, Connecticut and we rented homes on Highland Lake in 2001 and 2003 before we purchased our own home there in 2005. We'll gladly answer any questions you may have so feel free to give us a call.

Why The Owner chose Winsted

Terrific location, we're in the water or on our jet ski from April to October. Skiing at Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT is 12 minutes away.

We enjoy bicycling and long walks around the lake. Great for outdoor fun in the sun. Very comfortable in the summer and while playing, we're even able to get a little work done.

What makes this house unique

Morning sunrise off the lake. Early morning strolls, kayaking at quiet times on slow speeds (no wake) on Highland Lake (Memorial Day thru Labor Day)

A week to remember on Highland Lake

  • 5 of 5

The photos for this property do not do it justice. It sits right on the lake, at its quietest edge. When the sun

rises in the morning, there is a wonderful pink glow to the sky. As the sun gets high enough over the hills to touch the

lake, mist rises from the water. The start of the day was just magical, especially when one paddled out on the house

kayak onto the calmest waters ever!

Meanwhile, the house is very nice. The beds were quite comfy. The kitchen was fully operational and there were

two refrigerators that let us stock up for the week. We entertained as many at 15 at a barbecue and ping pong table

"tournament." There were card games on the second story patio and at the dining table, duck and fish feeding off

the dock, floating on the tubes that came with the house, and lounging in the grass yard. Meanwhile, Marc, the owner

was very attentive.

It was a great way for an extended family to spend a memorable vacation.

Great Place for Lake Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

All five of us…three adults and two teens…had a great week on Highland Lake. We loved the kayaking with the comfy seats, and traveled all three bays every day! At the recommendation of Mark, we rented a paddleboard from Collinsville Canoe and Kayak and enjoyed paddling the many coves, admiring the houses. Just a short distance down Rte. 44 we had farm stands where we got fresh eggs and veggies as well as homemade jams. We had the company of friendly ducks and saw a blue heron! The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Thanks for a great vacation, Mark!

Quiet and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in Mark's lake house for a week in October while in the area on business. Mark was super attentive and helpful, and the house is great. it provided a clean, quiet and comfortable retreat after our busy days. I especially enjoyed having my coffee on the deck in the morning looking out on the mist rising off the lake. I was thrilled one morning to see an eagle swoop by in the sunrise. I would love to return someday with more time to enjoy and relax.

Clean and comfortable lake house

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this beautiful lake house in August 2013, as a whole family, kids and grandparents. The house was comfortable, clean, right on the water and had all the amenities we needed for a family get away. The lake is clean, safe and serene. While grandparents enjoyed the deck and short walks, kids had a lot of fun with the Kayak, fishing off the dock and floating on the water. The owners were very accommodating and gave us a lot of useful information about the area. We had a great time.

Great Time on Highland Lake

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our vacation on Highland Lake. The house was waterfront and perfect for a family of seven. The grandchildren enjoyed fishing off the dock and swimming everyday in the lake. We spent most of our time at the house because it had all the comforts of home. We were able to bring our two dogs with us on vacation which was definitley an added benefit. They had fun barking at the ducks!! Marc was very kind and checked in with us at the beginning of our stay and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed for our vacation. It is an absolutely great vacation spot!!

Wonderful, relaxing week at the lake!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay.  The lake is gorgeous and the house was wonderful.  We came as an extended family (3 generations), and everyone had a god time.  It was great to vacation with our dogs, and they loved the lake almost as much as we did.  All of us enjoyed the use of the kayak, even the one dog.  Between kayaking, hiking in the many state parks, fishing, swimming, and shopping, we were so busy , the week passed in a flash.  There is a great restaurant in Riverton (sweet peas), and interesting historical sites.    All of our needs were anticipated and we wanted for nothing.  The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable.  The owners thought of everything, from rafts and floats, to leaving paper goods and ice cold drinks on our arrival.  This is a great place for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.
