Welcome to the Great Escape! This well-maintained, beautifully decorated 3-bed, 2-bath half duplex in Key Colony Beach offers 30 ft. of dockage and quick/easy access out to the ocean! Enjoy a private yard with waterside tiki hut, fish cleaning station and beautiful views of the clean canal. The open kitchen has a breakfast bar and dining table for six, equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable — complete with a washer and dryer.

Cabana Club passes are included for beach and pool access, located just a short walk away! Enjoy nearby parks, beaches, fishing, golf and restaurants, along with free concerts and sunset ceremonies at Sunset Park.

Everything about this place was perfect. It was so nice and clean, the beds were super comfortable, and the outside area was so relaxing. I enjoyed sitting out back in the evenings and seeing the manatees. It was a short walk to the pool and beach. And I loved having the bar and restaurant right there.

GREAT CENTRAL LOCATION

Early in the reservation process, learned Shore Thing did not have a tub (needed), we were offered the Great Escape which did have the tub. Nice sized unit on a canal, decorated nicely, but had no kitchen cabinet space for food products brought (cereal, snacks, etc.) along for the week. Bathrooms were clean and had the required tub, but were very small. Key Colony Beach is centrally located in Marathon, which is nearly the center of the Keys which is great for the adventurer who wants to get to all the Keys while enjoying beautiful sights and sounds.

Everything we needed

Easy to find. Close to Cabana Club with privileges and an Easy walk. Bait freezer inside home was clean and nice to have for our extra ice. Gas grill was new.

Disappointing

This property is a little bit more run down than what the pictures show, but still overall Okay. It is great if you are a boater as it is right on the canal and you can dock your boat right there. The location is great as it is central in Key West so either way you drive, its not too far. There are good grocery stores nearby, as well as restaurants. Dollar tree is close by to purchase toilet paper, paper towels etc. The size of the property is good, bigger than expected. The neighborhood is quiet. We loved Sunset Park, it was beautiful. We also got to take advantage of the Key Colony Beach and pool which we really enjoyed. The staff here were friendly and nice. Unfortunately, the property wasn't clean and we spent our first afternoon washing the dirty fridge, washing the bed sheets which had hair and lollipop stains on them, taking the lint out of the dryer and cleaning the washing machine that had a ring of detergent around the top of it, amongst other things. The white bathroom towels are not bleached as many of them are stained. We did reach out to the property manager who got back to us within an hour, and within a few days, gave us back $225 in a gift card as compensation. We declined the cleaning crew coming back out to the home. The listing states that there are pantry items. We did not find any, not even salt and pepper. I wrote a much more detailed review, but VRBO limits me, so this is significantly edited. Overall, we would not stay again.

Amazing views and location!

This is our second time staying in this neighborhood. The location and water views are amazing. This house was so much larger than expected and it was so clean and the backyard with the fence and tiki hut were amazing for privacy and shade! The manatees are super active in the canal so it was so fun seeing them swim in the backyard. We love the pool and beach access too! Highly recommend this place!!

Very nice home in great location

Perfect spot for a family vacation, quiet neighborhood, close to all that Marathon has to offer. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and living room. Loved being right on the canal.

I have absolutely no complaints about this property! The location was spot on, and perfect for taking the boat out to go fishing. It was very comfortable and easy to access!

Glad we chose this

Chose this house over a more modern one room beachfront in key colony. Teenage daughter, college son, husband and I on trip - we enjoyed the additional space as compared to the single open concept beachfront property. 3 bedrooms. Master in back of house with shower bathroom. Jack and Jill bedrooms in front of house with shared full bathroom. Fridge, freezer, oven, stove top, blender basically had everything needed to cook and eat there. Dining space. Deck with shade from super cute permanent fixture pavilion. Rented an suv to get us around the keys. Amazing location. FOOD: Loved kings Seafood restaurant, Sparkys restaurant, Porkys Bayside, Marathon Grill and Ale house and island fish company. BEACHES Loved sunset park, sombrero beach, Bahia Honda State Park, and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Sites - dolphin research center and theater of the sea in Islamorada. Visitor center nearby and people were so helpful!! Minor complaints - all trash cans filled to capacity before we arrived. Annoying dragging heavy cans to driveway. Wish they had fishing rods but we bought some down there. The house itself is like a side by side duplex - we could hear doors banging shut and younger kids next door. Honestly we weren’t in the place that much. So many beaches and things to do nearby. Was told by property manager there were no beach chairs but there were 2 in the laundry room. When we tried using guest Netflix account provided by property the account was unavailable because too many people were using it. It kept directing us to upgrade to use the account. We just used our own Netflix account. Kind of weird response from property mgmt about trash and tv but again very minor stuff. Great vacation.
