Beautiful upscale Key Colony Beach ground level half duplex decorated with a Tommy Bahama theme with rentals from Saturday to Saturday only. Midweek to midweek rentals are not available. This Non-Smoking unit has a private 37' step down dock and seawall that is only 20' from the two sliding glass doors. The view is fantastic. Fishing and dolphin and manitee sightings from the patio? You bet--EVEN AT NIGHT with fish light in the water. There is a fish cleaning station for cleaning the days catch. If you choose to eat it, put your 'catch of the day' on the Weber gas grill. If not you can store it in the freezer in the garage or take to one of the local restaurants and have them cook it to your specifications. The garage is available for parking your vehicle except from Thanksgiving through New Years week. Other outside space is available for additional vehicles. The home is located near the mouth of the canal with short, easy access to the Ocean and to the Gulf by way of the Vaca Cut.
The home has been furnished with everything you should need to enjoy your stay. If you think we have missed something, let us know. The kitchen with all new stainless appliances is fully stocked with utensils, pots and pans, dishes and glassware, and a dishwasher to clean them. Just add the food. The master bedroom and one guest room have king beds. The third bedroom has two twin beds. Linens and towels are provided - including beach towels. Time to wash the linens? A full size washer and dryer are also provided.
Do you want to eat inside or outside? We have made provisions for both. There are table and chairs waiting for you at both locations.
Be our guest at two private clubs. The first is the Cabana Beach Club with an Olympic sized pool, bar, and access to the beach. The second is Inch Beach, a private gated beach just off the end of our street. This is a great place to enjoy the ocean and get away from the crowd at the pool. Another attraction is the evening pilgrimage to Sunset Beach where the locals and visitors go to say good night to the sun and enjoy a glass of their wine or other beverage. Musical groups have been known to attend the happening and serenade the setting sun.
KCB is a safe, slow paced city on an island. A 25 mph speed limit on the entire island is strictly enforced. A sign the reads 'Honestly Now, What's Your Hurry? You Are Here.' greets you as you enter our community. Major modes of transportation include biking and walking. Our place comes with 6 bikes, four adult bikes and two child's bike. There are several bike rental shops in Marathon that will deliver to your door if you need more of them.
Speaking of walking, three bars and restaurants are within walking distance on the island. Many more are within biking distance. Major grocery stores and retail stores are within 4 miles.
KCB is truly an Island Paradise where the weather is almost always perfect. Think of it as a piece of the Tropics or Caribbean that is in the USA. (TropiCaribbean-get it?)
You will be 53 miles from the most southern tip of the United States (Key West) and 53 miles from the main land. All the traffic goes through Marathon leaving KCB out of the main stream.
COME AND RELAX. YOU WILL BE BACK

About Denny or Nancy McGill
We are Minnesotans that love to travel, bike, boat, hike, and garden. We summer on Prior Lake, Minnesota and spend most of the winter here. And yes, we are retired.
Denny or Nancy McGill purchased this Townhome in 2011
Why Denny or Nancy McGill chose Key Colony Beach
We visited KCB in 2002 and stayed with friends that have a place there. That was the start of a love affair with the island. In January 2011 we started looking for a place in Florida and KCB was where it would be with its unique layout of waterfont property, friendly people, great restaraunts and watering holes, and totaly relaxed atmosphere.
What makes this Townhome unique
The location is about as good as it gets with its proximity to the Ocean and the Gulf. The access to the private clubs, the ability to catch fish from your patio chair, and so many other things make this a unique place and experience.

Great Time at a Great Property!
Stayed at this property in May and this property exceeded all my expectations! What a great stay. Property has everything you need for a great stay. Super clean and very well stocked. Inch beach and Sunset park nearby was an added bonus. Definitely coming back to this property. A very big thank you to the owners of this property!!
Thank you for your review. We take pride in our property and want all our guests to have a wonderful time with their family and friends.
We have furnished our place like we have furnished our summer home near Minneapolis with everything we need and a few extras that are needed in the Keys.
Family Vacation for the Holidays
We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays in KCB. The home has everything you could possibly need for a great time. You don't even have to bring beach towels. We were there with our son and granddaughter to celebrate with other family members staying in the area. The house was large enough so that everyone had their own space. Furniture and beds were comfortable and in good condition. My son complained about the sun coming into the middle bedroom very early in the morning even with the blinds closed. Very relaxing sitting on the canal watching the manatees, kayakers, paddleboards etc. Location is convenient to restaurants, beaches and stores. A little annoying that the speed limit is 25 MPH in KCB. The bicyclists and joggers were going faster than the cars! We took the bus w/o any problems to Key West for New Years Eve which was an experience to say the least. Lots of fun but exhausting! We never did get to use the pool at the Cabana Club , but did walk down to Inch beach. We didn't realize we had to bring our own chairs however, so I would suggest driving even though it wasn't too far. We rented a kayak for 24 hours which was delivered right to the house. All in all we had a great time. I would recommend this house for your next vacation...especially when it's freezing up north.
Wonderful property with everything you need for a great vacation! Will definitely try to rent this house again!
This property was everything they said it was and more. The photos and location listed on VRBO accurately portrays this home. The home was very clean and well maintained. Prior to booking this property I had questions and the owner was prompt on responding. During our time there the Key Colony pool was being updated so we were given a pass to another resort in the area – Gluntz – so we could use their pool. It was perfect and they even had a beach, hammocks, tables, and games on the beach that were available to us.
The beds were comfortable and the sheets and towels were superior. All the kitchen appliances and accessories were of good quality and plentiful; we had everything we needed. We also really enjoyed having bikes available to us. It was the perfect way to tour Key Colony and they had baskets on the front so we could carry our towels, water, and cameras easily. The Tiki Hut - just steps outside the back sliding-glass doors - was the perfect place to sit during storms or finish off the evening. The canal was clear and we saw a variety of fish including small sharks.
One thing I did not realize about going in September is quite a few of the smaller “mom and pop” restaurants closed because it is low season and they take their holiday. However, it was no problem because there is an abundance of great restaurants in the area – and of course Sparky’s was always open. Porky’s in Marathon and Shrimp Shack in Islamorada were two great unplanned wonderful finds! The location was perfect and we did many day trips to Islamorada and Key West.
From the moment we walked in, we felt at home and on vacation at the same time. We had a great time diving, fishing, catching lobster and snorkeling on both the ocean and bay side. Everything is so convenient to this location. We loved having breakfast and dinner under the Tiki Hut. The Perfect way to start and end the day! Thanks for sharing your home.
Great Place to Stay!!!
We just stayed for a week over Thanksgiving 2013. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. The location in the middle of the Florida Keys is perfect..It allows for quiet relaxation and down time while still being close enough for day trips south to Key West or north to Key Largo. We loved the fact that two of the bedrooms had king beds..as we were traveling with another couple. The owners have made their home very inviting and comfortable. We enjoyed the patio on the canal with a cup of coffee every morning and a cocktail every evening. If you are considering renting here....just do it....you won't regret it!!!! Also...Go to Sparky's, nearby..they have happy hour from 4-6 every night with 25 cent peel and eat shrimp and chicken wings...Awesome!!! We went every night after we found this place!!!
It seems like all of our guest have a similar feeling about staying at our place. We named it the TropiCaribbean Retreat because it is laid back even more than some of the Caribbean islands and the house is very cozy and inviting. So far we have scored 5 out of 5 on every review.
In addition to a private beach, swimming pool and several excellent restaurants on the island and near buy, guests have enjoyed visits the Turtle Hospital, Dolphin Research Center, several state parks, and Key West.
