Lovely home with an amazing view!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the home... such an amazing view! One drawback for us was the sun-room had a very strong paint odor. We wanted to take advantage of the warmth of the room but the odor made it impossible for us to tolerate for very long, and as another reviewer noted, the windows don't open, so there was no way to really air it out. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfy, kitchen and baths had everything we needed except our food and own toiletries. Crescent City is a fun little place where we had fun on the beach, in the redwood forest, and dining with friends. Loved it and hope we can return in the future.

Great location/house - could use better communication

  • 4 of 5

House was a great location, with a wonderful view of the ocean. The sun room was great, but the windows that face the ocean did not open, which made the ocean feel farther away. And a side note that the bathroom tub stopper didn’t work. Arrangements through the property management company were not the best. Most VRBOs have a notebook that state how to check-out, how to run appliances/other items in the house, and recommendations in the area. There was only a sheet on the wall that reiterated what was in the contract, which gave no specific information for that property. There needs to be better communication before arriving at the property about how to check in (we spent the first 20 minutes on a scavenger hunt to find the key because the directions were not clear) and then at the property about expectations for check out. We were charged an additional clean up fee for sand, which we had taken our shoes off as stated on the wall, but apparently there was sand on the kids bodies which left sand in the bed. If I had known we would get charged extra for that it’s something I would have made sure to look for. Since I didn’t sleep in my kids beds I didn’t think of looking for it. I understand the extra cleaning fee, I just felt they needed to be more upfront about what they expected and how much we would be charged for it.

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic house with everything you need right across the street from the beach and a short drive from all the giant redwoods you could ask for. This was our first trip to northern California and we will definitely be back.

Great views and the service was excellent!

  • 5 of 5

The views from the house are terrific and the price is good. We were only there for one night, but there was plenty to explore and nothing beats walking out the front door and across the street and right onto the beach! Service was great and the property is neat and clean.

Amazing View..incredible rates

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we turned on the street, it was jaw dropping. Having a garage was a great perk. The bungalow is a retro/redo in excellent shape. Storage was great, as was the laundry. All the dishes/flatware/cooking items looked new. We always use vacation rentals when we travel. We've stayed at places that looked like everything was garage sale items. Not this place.

The view is something you have to see to appreciate. Pictures do not do it service. Darlene and other staff at the rental agency were wonderful. We loved it so much, we would have attempted buying it, if not for our grandchildren at home.

Good Value, Good Service, Great Views

  • 5 of 5

The Coastal Cove Bungalow is an excellent property for people who want a spectacular sea view and a convenient base for exploring the beaches, rivers and redwoods of Del Norte and northern Humboldt counties, and Southwest Oregon. It's professionally managed in a friendly and personal way by people who showed a genuine interest in our enjoyment of the property.

If granite countertops, stainless appliances, crown moldings, hardwood floors and tray ceilings are essential to your enjoyment of life, this is NOT the place for you. It's a very unpretentious, straightforward, functional, comfortable home, with tremendous beach access for hikes, surfing or swimming, with you front and center to dynamic views (barring fog!) from the big, cozy sunroom. The house is easy to heat with a central gas heater, additional heaters in the bedrooms, and a fireplace supplied with plenty of wood. There are two flatscreen TV's, wifi, movies, and cable. There's also a collection of books and games for all ages.

The house features two excellent sitting areas for a family to gather in comfort, the kitchen is well-equipped, the location is quiet, and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is dated, but there are plenty of towels, and a big laundry room.

This is a good house whether you want to be quietly contemplative or physically active, in a location that lets you transition smoothly from one to the other. Be prepared for the wind and fog that can plague the North Coast, hope for the clear weather that can make it one of the most beautiful and enjoyable places on earth, and be confident that this house will be a good base regardless of what Nature decides to do.
