About Andrew Week

My grandfather bought this property many years ago and it has been handed down to me and our family! I can't tell you enough about how this property has came to be one of the most important part of our lives. We want you to share in our passion for this property and we feel you will also be touched like we have been.

Andrew Week purchased this cabin in 1940

Why Andrew Week chose North Coast

Everyone seems to enjoy their stay here

What makes this cabin unique

Every morning I get up and make my self a cup of coffee and swivel the chair around in the living room to face the river in all of its wonder. I sit there peacefully as the water races down to the ocean, read the paper and gently sip on my coffee.

Beautiful, secluded, comfortable spot on a great part of the river

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here! The photos of the property are great, but because of perspective and just actually being there, they just don't do this spot justice. It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. As others have said, there are a lot of great little nooks to explore and in which to relax and tons of little touches. We especially appreciated the cards throughout the house and our daughter really loved the animal pillows and stuffed owl. In the early evening, you can wander down to the river, sit on a rock in the middle, listen to the water and smell the trees and easily imagine that it is 1000 years ago. We hope to return!

One word of caution that we learned the hard way - print out directions before you leave! It is a little tricky to find, neither our Verizon nor AT&T service worked, and Gasquet closes up fairly early. But wi-fi worked great once we were there!

Magical memories were made on this adventure

  • 5 of 5

This is the most amazing, serene, quiet, beautiful hideaway we have ever stayed. The hidden getaways on the property alone make this a haven. The owners have clearly made this a home away from home. We spent a lot of time on the swing listening to the sounds of the Smith River which puts on its own subtle show of beauty.

The surrounding landscape and the little nuances surrounding the property make this a hidden gem. This time of year was no problem wading among the well defined river bottom just below the property. Just a few yards away the water deepens for those who want to swim. We caught a brown trout just off the property line and cooked it up for all to savor. The inside of the home is just as beautiful and has its own little nuances and bits of history about the home and the area. I would highly recommend this hideaway for a romantic weekend or to share with your family. Crescent City is a great town just about 14 miles away and has several attractions for adults and kids alike. We will absolutely stay here again. Thank you for your kindness and for making this memory last a lifetime

All you can ask for, and more

  • 5 of 5

On our way to the cabin we saw a sign on a lodging place which said "Almost Heaven", I did not quite understood the "almost" part of this sign, until we have arrived to the cabin.

This cabin has it all: it is very cosy, has all the amenities you would need, it's quite with an amazing view to the river.

Adding to it the big number of a near by attractions and you will get a perfect vacation away from the crowd.

Pros: all the above

Cons: beware of the mosquitos outside.

An Absolute Magical Gem

  • 5 of 5

As if the fact that the house's location on the Smith River is picture-perfect (gorgeous views from all rooms, and awesome swimming hole to boot)) wasn't enough, Elve Huset itself is a very special place. So much care & thought has gone into this home, with all the woodworkings and beautiful furniture, the amazingly stocked kitchen. Everything about inspired serenity, tranquility and joy. It's amazing how comfortable you feel the moment you walk in. We spent a week there with our two small dogs and were super sad to leave. The swing facing the river was one of my favorite things! So were the views from the master bedroom. Andrew's a pleasure to work with. Highly highly recommend!

A Walk in the Forest, A Swim in the River

  • 5 of 5

When you walk in to Elve Huset you feel immediately comfortable and at home. We spent our mornings exploring the surrounding forest features (forest service employees are very helpful at assisting you in finding trails at an appropriate ability level), and our afternoons playing in the Smith River. In the evening we gathered in the living room to visit and play games. Elve Huset has everything you need to make a meal, take a nap, and just completely relax. We hope we are able to return someday!
