The Owner purchased this house in 1994
I've owned my home since 1994 and now that I'm empty nested and my daughters are done with college, I would like to travel more in my life and still have a place to come home to now and than.
I love my home because of the location and its relaxing atmosphere and decor. Also its easy access to some of the most beautiful Lake Michigan beaches and one of the best biking and hiking trails in Wisconsin. Everyone that has ever visited or stayed at my home has just loved it. Its truly a wonderful place to visit and vacation...
Our stay was very comfortable and private. Enjoyed Thanksgiving with our family and hosting several meals in the gourmet kitchen. Our grandson enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Pictures of the property are a true representation of what to expect. We will be back!
We kept repeating over the weekend how this property has everything you could possibly want in a weekend visit with our families! We rented both the Hummingbird and the Chickadee - having both bathrooms and more than enough bedrooms for our 3 families was a great choice for us. We enjoyed the bonfire pit (compete with firewood so we didn't have to go searching for any), the screen porch - the kids spent many hours playing the throwback games, swinging in the hammock, and we even did both our dinners out there, lawn games in the huge yard, and even TVs in several rooms for those times when you just want to throw on a cartoon to occupy the kids or news while you drink your coffee. Kevin has an eye for design as it was very well decorated. We stayed here for the Kite Festival and hope to come back next year - great proximity to the lake (we didn't bike due to the ages of our small kids, but the trail is right there). All together it was an awesome rental and we hope to do it again next year!
My husband and I booked this home last minute to take advantage of wonderful weather and the nearby bike trails. Once we checked in, we didn't want to leave the beautiful back patio and gazebo. The flowers, fountains, birds and peaceful setting made it a very welcoming retreat. The kitchen had everything you could want, and the home was lovely. I have to add, we did bike along lake Michigan and into the state forest, and loved the trails. We also had a couple great days swimming at the beach in Two Rivers. We will be back!
Although I’m a little late in writing this review, I cannot say enough about how pleasant our stay at the Hummingbird Retreat was. My wife and I took our one year old there and enjoyed our most relaxing extended weekend in quite some time. Kevin is a most congenial and helpful host, and our son loved running around outside, exploring and experiencing more nature than he gets to in Chicago. The house is clean, inviting, and stocked with anything you might need, and the quiet tranquility was precisely what we were hoping for. This is an ideal place for a family gathering, and we hope to be back. Thanks, Kevin!
We had another wonderfully relaxing stay at Hummingbird rental. This is our 2nd year setting up an art retreat in the wonderful screened in porch surrounded by trees, birds and nature. Kevin and Karen made us feel welcome with the chalkboard sign in the front. The kitchen is well equipped as we ate all meals in. the outdoor shower and hot tub helped to make our week relaxing. Thanks for sharing your property with us again.
My family and I stayed at the Hummingbird Retreat for my sister's wedding over the weekend. The Retreat surpassed all of my expectations! Kevin and his girlfriend Karen were quite the gracious hosts and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed. They were even willing to rent us the Chickadee at the last minute so we could house additional family members. Our family used the Hummingbird Retreat's kitchen to prepare a massive amount of food for the wedding. I'm not sure what we would have done without that kitchen given how spacious and well equipped it was. Seriously, there were all sorts of resources available, including an electric juicer! The surroundings of the retreat are rustic and calming and you can take it all in from numerous cozy spots, including the inviting screened in pavilion out back. We had some pretty chilly and rainy weather despite it being mid-June but we warmed ourselves in the hot tub and the Retreat itself was plenty warm. The decor and layout of the Retreat was very creative and had character all of its own. I often found myself admiring the attention to detail that was readily apparent throughout the house and grounds. I hope to return for another stay very soon; until then you shouldn't hesitate to stay at the Hummingbird Retreat!
