About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 10

Ocean meets peaceful tranquility in Charleston, Oregon - and this three-bedroom home offers both, as you'll be within walking distance to Bastendorff Beach while still being just off the beaten path. You'll enjoy the cozy living rooms - there's one on each floor - and the tree-lined yard where you can relax on sunny afternoons while the kids run around.

Known as a fisherman's paradise, the fishing experts in your group will never want to leave this hot spot. You'll have access to the best locations for crabbing, clamming, surf fishing and deep-sea fishing. If you need some guidance, take a charter trip where the locals can help you find the best catch in some of their favorite places. Of course, for those who want to stay closer to the shore, Cape Arago State Park and Shore Acres State Park are nearby for beautiful beaches and wildlife sanctuaries.

The upper level deck may be the best place to hang out on summer afternoons. Have a BBQ using the charcoal grill or just enjoy a cold glass of iced tea! On the main level you'll find a spacious living room with two leather recliners, a sofa, and big windows to let in beautiful views. There's even a fireplace for cozy nights in.

The kitchen has everything you'll need to create fantastic meals - including a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and a dishwasher. Fry up the day's catch, or lay out all the ingredients for a taco night on the center island. Sit down at the big dining table where you can discuss the best part of your day while enjoying a nice dinner with the family.

Head down the windy stairs to the lower level and you'll have more living space. Curl up on the couch while watching your favorite cable show or a DVD on the TV. In addition, there's a table, microwave, and a full bathroom down here.

This home has a total of three bedrooms - each with a queen sized bed, and two full bathrooms. Additional amenities include a laundry room, WiFi and a sofa bed. Altogether this home will sleep up to 10 guests comfortably. With all this space, treat your family to a fun and fancy-free vacation where sandy shores, fresh seafood, and sunny days await!

About Vacasa, OR - Oregon Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wifes familys summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental managementthings like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Perfect Location

 • 3 of 5

It was a great location - within minutes from Sunset Beach (literally down the road) and Bastendorf Beach. Up the road from Sunset Beach, there were some trails we walked down and were able to see Sea Lions playing in the ocean. The area is absolutely beautiful!

There was a smell - like other reviewers talked about. It was hard to adjust to. It was an old, musty smell. We tried spraying air freshener, but it was a temporary fix. There were a few maintenance issues with a lopsided toilet seat and lights that didn't turn on. We spent most of the time upstairs where the kitchen is - which is a climb especially with groceries and luggage. It's a lot of going up and down stairs that are narrow and wind up. If you have small children or elderly, this could be a problem. But honestly, for the price and location, it was nice to be so close to everything we wanted to do.

Home away from home

Thank you for a great stay. It worked out perfectly for my family and myself. My only regret was that it rained the whole time we were there that we could not enjoy the great outdoors.

Horrible Horrible Experience

 • 1 of 5

Showed up late on a Friday, kinda got a few whiffs of a bad smell, left early Saturday morning for fishing trip. When we came back smell was overpowering, walked around the house and noticed flooding around the septic tank. Walked inside and found the septic tank alarm had been triggered but was muted by either previous guests or management company. The backyard was completely flooded by sewage! It was running towards a creek that drained into the ocean. Called the management company and they did not believe us, they thought we were trying to get something out of them, so they sent someone out who basically downplayed the situation and tried shifting the blame to us although we had hardly been there. Apparently this house has had previous problems with the septic, they referred to septic tank alarm as the "party alarm" because "people are always showering and using the toilet". ??? They ended up moving us to a different house and knocking a few bucks off but we spent an entire afternoon dealing with this. Hopefully we don't get sick from it and I feel bad that raw sewage is draining into the ocean, I hope they fix that.

Charleston

Brought the family and enjoyed the beach and park trail. It is a double level living space so be aware with the elderly or wheelchair. we loved it! Only a small old tv, it was fine for us but if the owners wanted to make an investment I would suggest another tv for family viewing upstairs.
