The Maple Ranch Johnson House is an extraordinary Vacation Rental, located on a 112 acre spread of premium grape vineyards, ponds, creeks, and mixed forestland in the heart of southwestern Oregon’s remote Siskiyou Mountains, an area renowned for its rugged geology and botanical specimens unique to any other location in the western hemisphere. This recently refreshed and comfortably appointed historic two-story ranch house is beautifully situated on a grassy rise overlooking the Illinois Valley with a breathtaking view of the nearby Klamath Range on the western horizon. With five spacious bedrooms, upstairs and down, and bathrooms on each floor, it easily accommodates up to twelve people, ideal for family reunions, multi-couple gatherings, business retreats, honeymoons, or second honeymoons.

Hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, bicycling, river rafting, creek-walking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, wine tasting, rock climbing, spelunking, or simply exploring one of the last unspoiled wilderness wonderlands on the Pacific west coast are but some of the readily available options to those with a heart for the rare and remarkable.

A Great Place for Family Fun!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Johnson House. My 2 grandsons and even some of the "adults" loved the swing in the backyard! It was perfect for us - we felt at home as soon as we got there!

Comfortable old home, great stay

  • 4 of 5

This old farmhouse is nestled in among the vineyards with lovely views to the mountains. The house is old, so had a character in the way that old homes do. Everything was clean, the linens were spotless, and comfortable beds (and we are fussy about beds!). We especially enjoyed eating at the picnic table in the shade of a beautiful, old tree. We also enjoyed the visit from the friendly and well-behaved dog next door who seems to just enjoy hanging out on the porch or the backyard.

Ceilings are low, so maybe it wouldn't work as well for very tall people, but it was fine for us average height folks. If you need to do laundry, there's a washer and dryer there, but bring your own soap.

We were pleasantly surprised at how much there is to do in this area, and we appreciated the tourist information provided at the house. We went zip lining nearby, and it was an easy drive to the Oregon Caves (while you're there, check out the vintage diner at the lodge). Many wineries in the area, and close to river rafting.

A comfortable home in a lovely, bucolic setting!

Simply Splendid

  • 5 of 5

Five brothes, six nights, and each and every one of us was so very comfortable in our own rooms. Peaceful, cozy, charming and warm is how I would describe this home.

A beautiful old farmhouse property

  • 5 of 5

We loved it! It has a nice big open, green grassy lawn for kids to play in and a picnic table to eat at under a great big oak tree. And inside its huge- tall ceilings and interesting design. The house has lots of history and there is a binder that has some of it written down. The owners are very nice and longtime residents in the valley. Everything works and is well-maintained. It feels very open, yet private. I would highly recommend this place!

Great place for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We met our 2 daughters and their families at the Johnson House, and as usual we had a wonderful time. Clean, large house, well supplied, large yard, places to hike. We will return as often as we can.

Great location and enjoyed our stay at the Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

The property was well taken care of and had a great time when at the farmhouse. Central location to Oregon Caves, Redwoods, and Crater Lake. Luis the caretaker was very kind and there for anything we needed. The family had a great time picking cherry plums, blackberries, and other fruit in the area. Would definitely recommend the farmhouse if looking for a cabin/house to rent for a week in Southern Oregon.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. There are a lot of fruit trees and wild berries on the property to which you are always welcome when in season. The deer, bear, and other visitors also appreciate the bounty!
