Fall is the BEST time on the bay!

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,500 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Come enjoy the fabulous sunsets and relaxing atmosphere in this spacious a-frame on the bay! The house is just minutes from the great shopping and dining of the city of Fairhope, but just off the beaten path enough to feel private and secluded! Located on the eastern shore of Mobile bay, the house faces almost due south, meaning refreshing breezes in the summer, but protection from the wind in the winter, making the outdoor weather fabulous year-round!

This house would be perfect for two vacationing families. The downstairs bedrooms both have King sized beds, while the bunks upstairs will sleep lots of kids! The sandy beach is perfect for small kids. A snowbird couple would also love this house, as the upstairs need not even be used! The view from the kitchen as you cook is just breathtaking.

There is a public boat ramp just one mile away, so bring your boat for skiing, tubing and fishing on the bay, or for a beautiful ride up the nearby magnolia river to swim in the cold spring waters.

Don't forget to pack your appetite for seafood. When baited, the three crab traps provided catch as many as a dozen crabs a day!

I am a stay at home mother of three girls ages 18, 16 and 12. I live only 20 minutes from this property. I am very active and enjoy training for and competing in triathlons.

Trin Ollinger purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Trin Ollinger chose Fairhope

It is a great place to vacation. We love to sail, ski, tube, fish and swim. It is only 20 minutes from our primary home, so it was convenient.

What makes this cabin unique

We love to be on the water as much as possible, and the breezes and weather here cannot be beat!

Great, quiet location

  • 4 of 5

Location right on the water, great view. Kids enjoyed catching a crab in the trap.

House had all the basics needed for the stay.

Was about a 20 minute drive to stores and the yacht club.

Had a group of 8 stay fairly comfortable. Could not beat the price given the location.

Nice location ... needs updates

  • 3 of 5

1st let me start with Trin was very nice and easy to work with! The house is very cute, AC works great! I was not at all impressed with the cleanliness of the house, the shower drain had globs of hair in it that I had to pull out before giving my 1 year old a was very gross. At one point we had to move the couch to retrieve one of his toys, it was very dirty, there was an old shoe..bottles..trash..gum stuck to the floor, etc I picked up and scraped gum from floor and my husband used paper towels to wipe up the floor bc we couldn't find a mop. Furniture is somewhat dated and stained, the headboard in the master is made with some sort of fabric cover, which was not clean looking as you could see other people's hair stuck to it. I'm only writing this to bring attention to the fact that whoever cleans the home is not doing a very good job. If not for that this home would've been rated 5 star very nice cozy getaway. However, There was 7 day construction going on next door as well, they are right in the middle of building a huge house there so if your looking to stay and sleep in...check with owner to see if construction is complete, we were woken daily around 7 by hammers and slamming car doors. The home was also supposed to be smoke free, inside it def is but my husband removed several cigarette buds from the beach area before our children could play (I'm assuming they wound up there from the workers next door). Overall if cleanliness and furniture were updated a bit it would be a super nice stay. Thanks

Owner's Response: Nicole, I am SO sorry that the house was not clean. We have changed cleaning services since your visit, and I think they are doing a much better job. I wish that you would have contacted me during your stay, as I would have sent someone down! One thing to note: the "hairs" on the headboard were actually strands of fiberfill that are coming through the material on the headboard, NOT hairs from other guests! I have replaced the material with a thicker denim after I went and looked at it (after reading your review) and it has solved the problem. Please let me know if you would like to come again and I will be happy to give you a free night.

Feels like Home

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place for our family to be together for a few days on the bay. The owner has described the property quite well, and she was helpful with any questions we had. It was such a beautiful place to relax and unwind. We were so grateful she could answer on such late notice and really went above and beyond while understanding our odd circumstances. I hope to get back and stay here again soon!

It was a secluded and cozy place. Minor issues that didnt ruin our experience. Everyone agreed upon considering this place again in the future.

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I really can't say enough good things about our experience with this rental. First, the booking process was seamless. Trin, the owner, was very helpful, kind and responsive. We booked the house for a family New Year's getaway with about 10 people aged 2 to 72. Fairhope is a magical getaway destination. The house is right up on the bay and the sound of waves lapping against the shore is hypnotic. There is a long pier that juts out into the bay and is a perfect place for morning coffee, late-night libations and everything in between. As for the house, we loved the layout and the fact there wasn't cable or internet (If you can't unplug for a few days this place isn't for you). The place just feels like home. So much so I almost forgot to leave the key on our way out. We brought my dog -- a chocolate lab -- who basically had the time of his life. The place is very pet friendly. We were already talking about booking again in the near future one day into our stay because the views you get from the big windows in the house are just incredible. There is something about the way the sun sets over the Mobile Bay that just has a way to leave you in awe and revive the soul. You should book this place at once.

Owner's Response: I am so happy you had a good time! It sounds like you feel the same way about the house as we do- no place in the world recharges me quite like a stay at the bay house. I certainly hope you come again soon, we definitely didn't show you our best weather. 😀 Trin P.S. Our chocolate lab actually pouts when we leave from a stay at the bay!
