The Cottage was a quiet, roomy yet cozy headquarters for us as we enjoyed exploring the shops and eateries around town. The soaking tub with a serendipitous bottle of lavender bath salts was a highlight, especially with the cold and icy weather outside. The screened in porch was so inviting, and we would have taken full advantage of it, had the weather let us. After busy days, evenings were spent unwinding, as there was no distracting TV--another plus. Mornings were easy, due to the coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave, for quick breakfasts of cereal oatmeal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend The Cottage to others looking for a nice get-away.

For the price, stay somewhere else. Lots of nice bed and breakfasts around.

My husband and I had a few unexpected days off together and decided to get out of town for a few days. We live in San Antonio and thought about hitting the coast, but wanted to venture into a small town instead. So, we chose Llano! Unfortunately, our trip was so last minute that unlike every other trip/property I've ever booked, I did NOT read all the reviews on this place before booking. If I had, I would like to think I wouldve chose something different and saved us a headache.

The cottage itself is very cute, but also very bare. It's a shame really, it has so much potential, but is executed poorly. There is NO shower, the pillows/bed are pretty darn uncomfortable, and there is NO table inside besides the night stands. This means you can't bring food back to the house to eat or even play a board game unless you want to sit on the floor or the bed. Not only that, there is no T.V. or Wifi. Now, we don't watch a lot of television so that was ok, but the no wifi thing was painful. It seemed to be an issue through the entire town! Both my husband and I have jobs that need to be able to get a hold of us at least through email. We ended up going to Fuel, the really quaint local coffee shop, to check our messages. Our actual cell service didn't work either, which was also incredibly frustrating. I couldn't even call the property owner until we drove around town for a whole and found a decent spot. We have Sprint by the way.

Lastly, when we first arrived, we were greeted by numerous tiny mosquitoes (inside the cabin). Later that night after a bath, large red & black ants started climbing the walls, and there were roach reminants laying around. That was enough to send us home after only staying 1 of our 2 booked nights.

Eva tried to be helpful, unfortunately there wasn't much she could do. She didn't have control of the Wi-Fi because there was none at the house (I forgot to look), she doesn't have control over the phone towers, etc. She did refund us a small portion of our second night although it was less than a quarter of our total bill. At least it was something though.

It was great to be able to bring our dog with us. She loves adventuring and even went floating on the river with us for a few hours. I really wish the place would've worked out. It was a bummer to drive all that way to have to turn around the next day and head home.

Owner's Response: Anna, At the Backyard Cottage, our goal is to give folks the opportunity to unplug, unwind and enjoy our little town and the Llano River. I am sorry that our goal did not match your expectations and desires. Clearly the lack of cell and internet service was problematic and something you desperately needed. I have been in the restaurant and hospitality business for more than 20 years and know very well that when customers arrive "out of sorts ", they oftentimes take their frustrations out on the establishment. It was pretty clear from the beginning, because of your issues, this would be one of those times.

We loved this quaint, quiet, centrally located cabin.

We had a delightful time in Llano and felt right at home in our little cabin. We especially appreciated being able to bring our dogs. We'd encourage you to bring your own pillows :-). I definitely agree that it would be more comfortable if there were some kind of sheer over the bathroom window however there's lots of tree coverage just outside the window. The owner was extremely helpful and available to answer all of my questions. Make sure if you come to Llano you plan on eating before 8 p.m. as everything closes LOL. Great little bar on the square stops serving food at 8 but was open late to enjoy some games of pool and a good beer.

Cottage is cozy

Cottage is cozy and felt right at home. I do recommend a sheer or something on the window above the tub.
