Chesterville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-7)

Located on Locke Pond in the Western Mountain and Lake region, this secluded four season get-away is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. This beautiful owner-built camp is nestled on two acres of land with 320 feet of shore frontage. Tastefully decorated by the antique store owner, the home features a wrap-around porch, huge fireplace, sleeping loft, cathedral ceiling, full bathroom, and eat-in kitchen.

Locke Pond is 134 acres and perfect for fishing, swimming, or just watching the sunset from the dock. Owners have kayaks, canoe, and pedal-boat on site for use. Enjoy fall foliage and winter sports, too. This vacation home's setting is quiet and tranquil on a dead-end road with only the loons call to break the silence, yet also close to the University town of Farmington for great shopping, restaurants, and cinema.

About Karen Andrews

We both have businesses on Long Island in New York. We try to get to Maine every couple of months to enjoy our camp and relax, however, now that our son is grown, we're finding that it's getting less use, so we've decided to rent and let others enjoy it as well!

Karen Andrews purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Karen Andrews chose Mountains & Lakes

We started as renters ourselves, first renting a camp on neighboring Sand Pond. In 1996 we purchased our land, and in 2001 we broke ground on the house. Construction took us five years to complete, but it was well worth the time spent! The house is gorgeous!

What makes this cabin unique

We love unwinding from our busy lives at Locke Pond, especially relaxing in front of a roaring fire, or hiking around the pond, or paddling about in the kayaks. We also have the best neighbors on Locke Pond, very friendly and very helpful! We feel very grateful for our good fortune of finding this beautiful spot!

Perfect Week Away From It All

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at this stunning property for a week this August. The house was clean, well kept and perched above the beautiful and serene Locke Pond. My 3 kids ages 13, 11 and 9 went electronic and screen free for the entire week and not once were they bored. They canoed, kyacked, fished and played board games and had an amazing time. My 9 year old caught a huge fish that we grilled for dinner - it was amazing!

It was a family vacation that we will never forget!

A special place in the woods

  • 5 of 5

A truly special cabin with every amenity for a peaceful and relaxing getaway in the Maine woods. It's really more than a cabin. Very spacious. Wonderful design inside and out. Love the huge wrap around porch. Great fireplace for cozy evenings, nice linens, spotlessly clean. Everything is meticulously maintained. Karen even had logs ready to light in the fireplace and also in the outside fire pit. We had a wonderful stay, hiked Tumbledown mountain on a beautiful fall day, drove the scenic Byway to Rangeley, and spent some time sitting in the sun on the docks. We really enjoyed just relaxing in the cabin. It's so comfortable that you really don't want to leave! Thant you Karen and Stuart for sharing your cabin with us.

The perfect retreat !

  • 5 of 5

After 10 wonderful but very busy days with family in Quebec, we were very happy to change gear and enjoy the peace of this cottage. It was precisely like the photos indicated and perfect appointed. Farmington is about 10 minutes away and the local grocery store has sockeye salmon, lobsters, swordfish, etc... and we splurged !!! We passed most of our time either on the dock, enjoying the lake and tossing our 4 year old in the lake, or up on the wraparound porch chilling out in the hammocks or rocking chairs. The only things we missed, which could be easily fixed, were a life vest for a child (we bought one at Walmart) and BBQ tools. Definitely a place where we would return !

Beautiful in every way!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place! Not only is the home beautifully appointed and exceptionally clean, but is very comfortable and is equipped with everything you need. The property is gorgeous and adds to the feel of tranquility and living with nature: from the well-planned path to the dock, to the bridge over the creek to the wrap around deck with natural wood railings. The pond is gorgeous and has maintained an "untouched quality" as you look across or kayak through the clear water. While the property itself is tucked away, it is within easy driving distance to several activities and hiking trails. We hiked Tumbledown Mountain in Weld, explored Smalls Falls and the Gorge near Rangeley, walked a nature trail in Madrid, picked blueberries in Wilton and visited Farmington for breakfast and lunch. Also, the property is only 1.5 hours from Portland and other coastal towns like Boothbay Harbor -- an easy drive to explore Maine's other spectacular landscapes. We loved every moment of this incredible trip and the Andrews' lovely home provided the perfect landing and resting spot for our adventures. Thank you!

Lovely & Secluded!

  • 5 of 5

First I must mention Karen was a pleasure to work with! She made it very easy to accommodate and book our family vacation. She was wonderful which made booking our vacation hassle-free.

The Andrews home on the pond is beautiful! Very clean and very comfortable! The charm and appeal of the home was amazing. The layout/design made it unique to the lake. Love how the master bedroom had its own slider to the wraparound porch. Plenty of room for our family of five. Beds were very comfortable and house was tastefuly decorated. This home is also truly secluded. Very few neighboring homes and the peace and quiet allows you to hear the loons while you relax & de-stress.

Our kids swam to the raft everyday except one (rain day). We kayaked and took in the peace and beauty of the pond each morning. We had ping-pong games, played cards and enjoyed the DVD/VHS movies as well. We also roasted hotdogs and made s'mores :-) The trail to the dock was awesome - the bridge over a tiny creek was the same design as the wraparound porch of the home. = very nice.

We enjoyed the nature too. The kids were fascinated with the loons. The brochure you had about them on the desk was quite informative. We saw frogs, fish and spiders.

Thank you for a wonderful vacation! This home is well-managed, beautiful and a serene place to enjoy!
