About Karen Andrews

We both have businesses on Long Island in New York. We try to get to Maine every couple of months to enjoy our camp and relax, however, now that our son is grown, we're finding that it's getting less use, so we've decided to rent and let others enjoy it as well!

Karen Andrews purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Karen Andrews chose Mountains & Lakes

We started as renters ourselves, first renting a camp on neighboring Sand Pond. In 1996 we purchased our land, and in 2001 we broke ground on the house. Construction took us five years to complete, but it was well worth the time spent! The house is gorgeous!

What makes this cabin unique

We love unwinding from our busy lives at Locke Pond, especially relaxing in front of a roaring fire, or hiking around the pond, or paddling about in the kayaks. We also have the best neighbors on Locke Pond, very friendly and very helpful! We feel very grateful for our good fortune of finding this beautiful spot!

Fantastic house in a beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Andrew's house! The house is beautiful and cozy. We were pleased to find supplies like toilet paper, dish detergent, sponges, trash bags, salt and pepper, etc. We used to canoe and kayaks everyday as well as the fire pit and fireplace. The house feels very private and there are numerous comfortable places to hang out. There is a Hannaford about 15 minutes away (a very scenic drive) and the lobsters from Mosher's were the best! A great place to stay for a relaxing vacation!

Beautiful and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 4 day stay in this pretty little home on a lovely lake. The house is nestled in mature trees and is very private. There is a wonderfully thought out path down to the lake with a fire circle and a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view. We loved using the kayaks and the canoe to paddle around and the swim dock was great. The lake was already surprisingly warm in late June. It was pleasingly quiet and we never saw more than a few other people out on the lake in the distance.

Our host Karen was very good with communication and sent us detailed directions and even left us a small gift for our arrival. The internet is DSL and clocked at speeds of a little less than 1 MBPS. It's adequate for checking email and light browsing but not as well for streaming video. I have one daughter who often works via computer if she accompanies us on vacation, and this would not have worked for that.

We had dessert at Boivin's Harvest House in Farmington one evening. I recommend it.

Overall this is a wonderful place. It's quiet, the house is beautiful and the property is gorgeous!

Perfect Week Away From It All

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at this stunning property for a week this August. The house was clean, well kept and perched above the beautiful and serene Locke Pond. My 3 kids ages 13, 11 and 9 went electronic and screen free for the entire week and not once were they bored. They canoed, kyacked, fished and played board games and had an amazing time. My 9 year old caught a huge fish that we grilled for dinner - it was amazing!

It was a family vacation that we will never forget!

A special place in the woods

  • 5 of 5

A truly special cabin with every amenity for a peaceful and relaxing getaway in the Maine woods. It's really more than a cabin. Very spacious. Wonderful design inside and out. Love the huge wrap around porch. Great fireplace for cozy evenings, nice linens, spotlessly clean. Everything is meticulously maintained. Karen even had logs ready to light in the fireplace and also in the outside fire pit. We had a wonderful stay, hiked Tumbledown mountain on a beautiful fall day, drove the scenic Byway to Rangeley, and spent some time sitting in the sun on the docks. We really enjoyed just relaxing in the cabin. It's so comfortable that you really don't want to leave! Thant you Karen and Stuart for sharing your cabin with us.

The perfect retreat !

  • 5 of 5

After 10 wonderful but very busy days with family in Quebec, we were very happy to change gear and enjoy the peace of this cottage. It was precisely like the photos indicated and perfect appointed. Farmington is about 10 minutes away and the local grocery store has sockeye salmon, lobsters, swordfish, etc... and we splurged !!! We passed most of our time either on the dock, enjoying the lake and tossing our 4 year old in the lake, or up on the wraparound porch chilling out in the hammocks or rocking chairs. The only things we missed, which could be easily fixed, were a life vest for a child (we bought one at Walmart) and BBQ tools. Definitely a place where we would return !
