Located on Locke Pond in the Western Mountain and Lake region, this secluded four season get-away is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. This beautiful owner-built camp is nestled on two acres of land with 320 feet of shore frontage. Tastefully decorated by the antique store owner, the home features a wrap-around porch, huge fireplace, sleeping loft, cathedral ceiling, full bathroom, and eat-in kitchen.

Locke Pond is 134 acres and perfect for fishing, swimming, or just watching the sunset from the dock. Owners have two kayaks and a canoe on site for use free of charge. Enjoy fall foliage and winter sports, too. This vacation home's setting is quiet and tranquil on a dead-end road with only the loons call to break the silence, yet close to the University town of Farmington for great shopping, restaurants, and cinema.

About Karen Andrews

We both have businesses on Long Island in New York. We try to get to Maine every couple of months to enjoy our camp and relax, however, now that our son is grown, we're finding that it's getting less use, so we've decided to rent and let others enjoy it as well!

Karen Andrews purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Karen Andrews chose Chesterville

We started as renters ourselves, first renting a camp on neighboring Sand Pond. In 1996 we purchased our land, and in 2001 we broke ground on the house. Construction took us five years to complete, but it was well worth the time spent! The house is gorgeous!

What makes this cabin unique

We love unwinding from our busy lives at Locke Pond, especially relaxing in front of a roaring fire, or hiking around the pond, or paddling about in the kayaks. We also have the best neighbors on Locke Pond, very friendly and very helpful! We feel very grateful for our good fortune of finding this beautiful spot!

Beautiful location and home

  • 5 of 5

This property includes an area for boats, outdoor fire pit, open forest area surrounded by trees with a view of the lake, dock, and huge wrap around porch - and these are just the outdoor spaces. Indoors it is more than rustic but still has a cabin feel. Wonderful fireplace and all the items you need for an easy stay. "Peaceful" is an accurate description of the property.

It's all true!

  • 5 of 5

First, the house is perfect. It's both beautiful and comfortable. We loved reading in the leather chairs and on the window seat, grilling on the porch, sitting by the fire, and hearing the loons as we drifted off to sleep. The attention to detail is wonderful and we were constantly finding new delights to notice.

Locke Pond is an idyllic setting for a quiet and relaxing vacation. You can do as little or as much as you want. We swam, kayaked, canoed, and walked around the ponds. We didn't want to leave. We wish were still there. Peace, beauty, and quiet. Utterly perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing your home!

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was lovely and Karen was awesome to work with. As a family of 6, with 4 tween/teen kids, we all enjoyed the swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Many days we had the lake to ourselves! Truly a beautiful, spacious lakefront retreat. Thanks for a great week!

Fantastic house in a beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Andrew's house! The house is beautiful and cozy. We were pleased to find supplies like toilet paper, dish detergent, sponges, trash bags, salt and pepper, etc. We used to canoe and kayaks everyday as well as the fire pit and fireplace. The house feels very private and there are numerous comfortable places to hang out. There is a Hannaford about 15 minutes away (a very scenic drive) and the lobsters from Mosher's were the best! A great place to stay for a relaxing vacation!

Beautiful and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 4 day stay in this pretty little home on a lovely lake. The house is nestled in mature trees and is very private. There is a wonderfully thought out path down to the lake with a fire circle and a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view. We loved using the kayaks and the canoe to paddle around and the swim dock was great. The lake was already surprisingly warm in late June. It was pleasingly quiet and we never saw more than a few other people out on the lake in the distance.

Our host Karen was very good with communication and sent us detailed directions and even left us a small gift for our arrival. The internet is DSL and clocked at speeds of a little less than 1 MBPS. It's adequate for checking email and light browsing but not as well for streaming video. I have one daughter who often works via computer if she accompanies us on vacation, and this would not have worked for that.

We had dessert at Boivin's Harvest House in Farmington one evening. I recommend it.

Overall this is a wonderful place. It's quiet, the house is beautiful and the property is gorgeous!
