Whether you want to sit in the sun, read while listening to the sound of the waves or be on the move from morning until night this is the place to be. There is no better snorkeling anywhere than right here at the cove and it is right out side your door. Sea turtles are always there and they enjoy sunning themselves on the rocks of the cove. This unit has a fully equipped kitchen, a nice living room and two bedrooms. The lanai is the perfect place to drink your morning coffee. The condo has a pool and gas grills. We love spending time there. A great sandy beach is just a block away. This is a fantastic place.

Location is second to none! Old school Maui at its finest!

If you want brand new sparkling Granite and marble then this is NOT the place for you! If you come to Maui for the abundant sea life, the world class snorkeling, the amazing scenery, the exciting boogieboarding and the seventies pace of life, this is the perfect place for you. We stayed with 4 adults and 2 kids and this place was magical! We were in the water less than five minutes and we had a whole family of turtles around us!! Amazing!! After having visited the Maui Ocean Centre, we now had an idea of what we were going to see in the water and we were not disappointed!! Dealing with the Varnells was a totally positive experience all the way through the booking process! They were very willing to let us in a little earlier as we were moving from another place and had food. A bottle of wine and snacks were awaiting us on our arrival, which was very much appreciated! I will be back!

location, location, location

This three bedroom condo worked great for this mom and her two near-grown sons -- lots of room and privacy for us to be on our own when we wanted to. We have stayed in the Napili area a number of times but never at Honokeana Cove. We loved being able to have such easy access to the best snorkeling on the island. We did use the air conditioning as the unit is partially blocked by another unit in front of it so it does not get the full benefit of the trade winds. There is a steep and narrow spiral staircase leading to the bedroom loft which would be a challenge for the very young or very old or anyone unsteady on their feet. The unit has not been renovated but is clean, well-stocked, with everything in good working order. We look forward to returning!

Tired Teachers

The Honokeana Cove is a fabulous location! I had visited a friend staying in a one bedroom unit a few years ago. The owners of this condo were sweet and kind. They delivered all of the necessary information to us of how to get in, codes and such. However this three bedroom condo is in sad shape. It is outdated and dirty. We needed to purchase basic supplies like toilet paper and paper towels. There is mold in the downstairs shower and the mat should be thrown away. The upstairs shower's surface is deteriorating. The soap was scratchy. The sliding door was very difficult to open and close. The spiral staircase going up to the loft was so narrow that we were unable to bring our suitcase upstairs. The refrigerator did not have any shelves on the door, so we were short on space. The linen service did not leave us large bath towels or wash cloths when they came mid stay, and there were no bath mats when you exited the shower. The downstairs shower curtain fell down when no one was even in the barhroom. The painting on the walls are so old they have faded and have no color. The topper were the fake plants, they are so old they are falling apart. At first we were going to give them water because they looked like they were dead, but then we realized they were fake plants. This place needs to be fixed up and updated. This was the only three bedroom unit available when we were trying to book. It is one of three units here that is privately owned. We paid more to stay in this condo then the other units owned by the site property management. At night you could see the beautiful updated units in this cove. Units with remodeled kitchens, beautiful furniture, freshly painted walls, bright colored bedspreads...We were very disappointed. Yes, you only really need a place to lay your head at night because hey, you are in Hawaii, but you expect more comfort. We have already booked our return trip for next year in the same location, but sadly it is not this unit.

Owner's Response: I spoke with the guest during their stay regarding a chirping gecko and she did not mention any '"deficiencies". I do not understand where she is coming from as the unit was professionally deep cleaned immediately prior to their occupancy. It was spotless. As for having to purchase bath tissue and paper towels, there were 12 rolls of bath tissue in the lower bath cabinet and experience has shown that the one new roll of paper towels provided is normally sufficient. Her comment about needing upgrading is subjective as all units are decorated by owners to their own personal tastes. We do not like stark white walls and granite counters. Paint on walls faded. The walls are natural redwood stained with semi-transparent oil stain and DO NOT have a painted look. You are supposed to see the wood grain and if painted would destroy this effect. Information was provided regarding a pulley that is available to get oversized luggage to and from the loft. Maui Glass temporarily repaired the sliding door to open and close easily pending a new sliding door that will be here in August. The refrigerator is new ( 2 yrs. old) and has FOUR shelves on the door. Three were okay. Someone had broken the gallon bottle shelf and removed it. A new shelf is on order. On the weekly linen service, 6 sets were replaced. The beach towels were not replaced as they were folded like the maid service folds them and presumed clean. A new glass sliding shower door was installed on July 3, so falling rods will no longer be a problem. I will give her the complaint regarding the fake trees, we have discarded them. Regarding rental rates, 217 is the only 3 bedroom unit that is fully air conditioned, hence, the increased rate. This review certainly is out of sync with our 4.8/5.0 rating from other guests. Best Kept Secret on Maui

Honokeana Cove is the best location on Maui. Terrific views of the cove and Molokai, Turtles everywhere you look in the cove and a laid back, quiet charm that is becoming harder to find. Our family of 5, including three teenagers, had all the room we needed and the owners did everything they could to make our stay as simple as stress free as possible....they communicated with us regularly in advance of our stay to ensure we had everything we needed to gain access to the unit and they even left us a nice bottle of wine as a welcoming gift, which was a nice touch. We would certainly go back when we next plan a trip to Maui.

Beautiful! Snorkel in your front yard, minutes from the beach

We had an amazing experience with this condo, which we rented so that we could attend a wedding in Lahaina with 2 other couples. The condo is very comfortable and clean, with air conditioning and fans in every room. We grilled every night using the shared grills out in front overlooking the cove, and enjoyed meeting the neighbors. We spent time on the nearby beaches during the day, all within about a 5 minute's drive. The snorkeling in the cove in front of the condo (pictured) is amazing, there are several turtles who hang our here and lots of beautiful fish. I highly recommend it and hope to go back!

Beautiful setting

We loved our stay at the Honokeana Cove and hope to reserve this property again in the future. We found the cove to be excellent for snorkeling and we had access to snorkeling/beach gear at the condo. The condo had everything we needed. We had a wonderful family Christmas holiday in Maui. The owners were a joy to work with.
