THE BOXWOOD BUNGALOW is a perfectly restored 1935 bungalow on the BEST street in Belmont, one of the Charlottesville's more desirable neighborhoods. Appropriately named for the dozens of beautiful English Boxwoods that adorn the property, The Boxwood Bungalow is an ideal property for guests who want walking distance to downtown, UVA reunions/graduation weekends, top Belmont restaurants(Tavola, The Local, Lampo & MAS). Note rate is $295 a night for up to 4 guests, maximum allowed. An easy drive to the world renowned wineries: Keswick Vineyards, King Family, Barboursville, Pippin Hill, Jefferson Vineyard, Trump Winery to name just a few, as well as popular micro-breweries; Blue Mountain, Three Notched & Devils Backbone. This pristine Bungalow furnished with Irish & American antiques is a wonderful alternative to any local hotel with two nice sized bedrooms(one with extra long twins, other a Queen bed) one full bath with tiled tub/shower, comfortable living room and dining area equipped with microwave, coffee maker, fridge, utensils/glassware. Coffee, tea, cream, whole fruit, bottled water and snacks are all placed in the bungalow by the owner and are included in your nightly rate. A large front porch offers a wonderful view of Carter's Mountain (a rarity), glorious sunrises, the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, glass of wine, or just relax and watch many native birds and enjoy the lush landscape. Personally maintained by the owner with 20 years in the hospitality business she ensures guest satisfaction and unsurpassed cleanliness. No pets, No parties and Non smokers only. The Charlottesville area is home to: Monticello(Jefferson's)Montpelier(Madison's) & Ashlawn-Highland(Monroe's). For guests who want to explore the city by foot, this bungalow is an easy 10 minute walk to the historic 7-block pedestrian mall, and the bungalow has one off street parking spot. I also manage a brand new one bedroom cottage next door so I could accommodate parties of 6 between the two properties. The pedestrian mall is home to The Paramount Theatre, Live Arts, Galleries, restaurants, street vendors, craftsman, farmers market, Ampitheatre, movie cinema, restaurants and bars to name just a few of the many reasons to stay within walking distance to downtown when visiting Charlottesville. Why Janice Kavanagh chose Charlottesville

Charlottesville is a wonderful city which I call home and the Bungalow is ideally located, and easy walk to the city's downtown, shops, restaurants and farmer's market. I love the Belmont neighborhood with many beautiful homes and walk-able to just about everywhere in the city, UVA is approximately 2 miles away.

What makes this bungalow unique

On a quiet residential street, but only minutes by foot to just about everything in the city: restaurants, theatre, shops, trails, historic monuments, UVA and sporting arenas are close by. Monticello Trail that leads you to Monticello is just a five minute drive. Carter's Mountain which is adjacent to Monticello is clearly visible from the front porch of the Bungalow which offers lovely sunrises. You get the best of both worlds, close to the city so you don't even need a car, but you have the benefit of staying on quiet residential street without all the traffic and noise. Large front porch elevated off the street is ideal for relaxing, watching the sunrise and enjoying your morning coffee!

Lovely, Charming, Comfortable Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Boxwood Bungalow while visiting Charlottesville with a group of college friends. It was the perfect mix of modern comfort in a charming vintage setting. Janice provided everything we could possibly need for a relaxing weekend: comfortable beds and linens, coffee, tea and snacks. Everything was beautiful, clean, and up to date. The location was a huge draw, within easy walking distance of restaurants, cafes, and the downtown mall. We rented 2 other houses in Belmont for our group and enjoyed the convenience of walking everywhere. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to experience all that Charlottesville has to offer.

Clean & comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying at this property. It is very clean, comfortable and well located. Sitting on the front porch was very relaxing. It is nicely maintained. It's very easy to park on the street right in front. Overall, we were very pleased with this property. The only thing that could've been improved was the description, which doesn't clearly state that there is no kitchen (re-reading it now, it's implied) so we wouldn't have brought food.

Owner's Response: Suzanne, The photos of all the interior rooms and the description of all the rooms have been described this same way on VRBO for over 8 years. My apologies that you were dissappointed at having no full kitchen. Thank you

Great spot for a getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this beautiful little bungalow for a small bachelorette party! It did not dissappoint. It is a short walk to some very cute, very popular restaurants. But we spent the majority of our time on the front porch, which was glorious! A nice breeze, a good book, and some beautiful views make for a very relaxing afternoon after the wineries! Janice was very helpful and quick to respond with anything we needed while we were there. Parking was easy for more than one car! The inside of the bungalow is very cozy!

The only downside was the lack of kitchen. Of course, this is made known to you in the details of the rental. However, there is not a sink to properly wash a dish and only a mini fridge for snacks and drinks. Despite this small inconvenience, we made it work, and had a great time! I would rent this property again for more exploring in such a wonderful place!

Perfect Getaway for a Weekend in Charlottesville

  • 5 of 5

The house is just the right size for a couple spending a weekend exploring Charlottesville and the countryside. Four miles to Monticello, easy walk to downtown. Nice neighborhood. Seven restaurants within a five minute walk. Certainly would come back.

Cute and quaint

  • 5 of 5

The bungalow has so much charm. It has all the amenities needed for a weekend stay. Loved that coffee/tea was provided along with water and a few healthy snacks.

Bed was ultra comfortable with high end linens.

Perfect locale to everything we did- wine tasting, breweries, hiking, and walking distance to downtown. MAS was our favorite Tapas restaurant, by far, and it was awesome that it was in walking distance to the bungalow.

Would definitely recommend this gem to anyone looking for a charlottesville getaway.
