About Gail Hoerr
I am an interior designer and renovation addict! I was so excited to find this property right next to UVa and completely renovate it and furnish it with fun finds from my favorite stores.
Gail Hoerr purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Gail Hoerr chose Charlottesville City County
We graduated from UVa in the 80's and lived not too far from this street. When this house became available, we knew we had to jump on it. The location so close to Scott Stadium will provide UVa football lovers the greatest parking and tailgating spot not in the stadium.
What makes this Cottage unique
The location of this cottage is just hard to beat.

Exceeded Our Expectations
Four of us stayed at Azalea Cottage and found the accommodations to be excellent. The house (and beds) were very comfortable and the location was close to everything we wanted to see. The house was well appointed and the owner was very responsive to our needs. We highly recommend a stay at Azalea Cottage.
Clean, Comfortable, Bright, Refreshing.
Azalea Cottage was perfect from the beautiful iris and flowering azaleas out front, the back patio area, to the bright and cheerful interior. Location to UVA also perfect. Gail - also perfect. Thank you and we look forward to staying again.
Cute, clean, comfortable
Our group of four stayed at the cottage while visiting the University for a college tour. It was about a 20 minute walk from the house to where we needed to be on campus. The house was really charming and immaculately clean and set in a quiet residential neighborhood, not a touristy area of town. The house had very pretty flowering shrubbery and dogwood trees outside and a nice backyard, which would be perfect for small kids to play. The beds and linens were very comfortable. I’ve stayed in several rental homes over the years and this was a very nice property. I would happily stay here again. I gave a five star review because I thought it was nicer than a four, but there was no 4.5 option. I base my comparison of this house to other amazing properties where I have stayed where the view, setting, amenities or house itself was awesome. And while I can’t quite equate this more simple property with some of the others, it was extremely cute and quaint and represented accurately in the advertising - and we were pleased with our stay. I would recommend it to my friends. So much better than a hotel room for about the same price!
One of the best HomeAway/VRBO stays we have ever had!
Azalea cottage was delightful! The location was good. The house is very clean, the decor is fresh, and the bed & bath linens are high quality. The back yard has a nice patio area with a firepit and new gas grill. There are amenities available like shampoo and whatnot in the bathroom. We would definitely stay again if travel took us back to Charlottesville and recommend the property.
Very cute cottage! Loved it! It was also very conveniently located! Would definitely stay there again!
Azalea Cottage is in a fantastic location for a visit to UVA and especially football games with Scott Stadium just down the road! Cottage was very welcoming and everything was comfy and cozy! Will definitely be back!
Adorable Azalea Cottage is located within half a mile of the beautiful and historic University of Virginia. Tailgate on the lawn of Azalea Cottage and then walk 1/4 mile to UVa Home football games at Scott Stadium, walk to Graduation on the University of Virginia Lawn, walk to dinner at nearby Frye Springs Station or Durty Nelly's Pub. Azalea Cottage is only 1 mile from John Paul Jones Arena and the University of Virginia Corner, and only 5 minutes to Historic Downtown Charlottesville. Drive 20 minutes to the scenic Skyline Drive or Blue Ridge Parkway. Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, is a 20 minute drive, and many vineyards are located within minutes of town.
