Great location but disappointing apartment

  • 1 of 5

Paris and St. Louis island as always were full of charm and character. This apartment was run down and grotty. The floors were sticky the kitchen a little scary and you would not cook in it. The " charming" furnisings were a collection of faded dirty looking old pieces that seemed like they came from a council throw out. The bathroom is old and needs renovation. The walls are cracked and paint is flaking everywhere. The booking process was not easy and I resented being sent a lease not previously mentioned only after payment of a non refundable deposit. I have had good experiences in the past with VRBO but will be more careful using them in the future. We will be back to Paris and will stay on St Louis but not in this apartment.

Wonderful place to stay on I'LLe Saint-Louis

  • 5 of 5

We selected this VRBO as we had always wanted to stay on I'lle Saint-Louis. This time it was my wife and I for one week while I was attending an International Meeting at Porte Maillot. This apartment is old and beautiful (wood beams, floor) and we will try to stay there again. We arrived on Saturday, took a taxi into Paris and were met at the apartment by a representative of the company. He gave us the building code and keys. Couldn't have been easier. The apt was compact but had a nice living room and bedroom. The kitchen and bath were not spacious but functional. We ate out every night so the size of the kitchen did not matter. Its located across from the church in the quiet part of rue Saint-Louis. There is no metro on the island but it's only a 10 min walk to the north (1, 2, 14) and south (10 ) for convenient stations. We were worried as it was August and virtually all of our favorite restaurants were closed. But we found some excellent locations that we will add to our list of favorites. Add them to yours. Le Caveau de l'isle on the island. Pamela Pop on Francois Miron. Astier on rue Timbaud east of Oberkampf. We also did the Steak Frites dinner at Relais de l'Entrecôte Saint-Germain. The last night splurge was at the one star L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon.

Superb location, great owner, very much enjoyed it

  • 5 of 5

It's a terrific space and was perfect for myself, my husband and our eleven year old daughter for our first stay in Paris. Nice combination of elegance in the lines, but was quite clearly a comfortable place that was welcoming to come home to. Only quibble I would have is that the bathroom turned out to be a bit tricky for two adults with mobility problems as the space is small and getting into and out of the tub to use the shower.

Peaceful and quiet in the middle of Paris

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights in July 2017. We loved the location & found the apartment very comfortable. The courtyard is beautiful, the beds were fine, the kitchen was perfect for our needs, and I liked having the church across the street. We felt that we were in a peaceful oasis amidst the craziness of Paris in July. We will definitely stay here again.

True Paris Experience

  • 5 of 5

Amazing 17th century apartment in the heart of Paris! Butcher, creamery, boulangerie, super market and the best ice cream you'll ever have, all on your street! The courtyard, the large windows and church bells in the morning... absolutely amazing! The bed is very comfortable, there is a fridge, freezer, washing machine, beautiful blue & white china and everything else you might need.

Great location.

  • 3 of 5

Situated on a great street with fabulous shops. Apartment is "rustic" but sufficient. The only thing I would complain about is the not-so-soft beds.
