About this property
Scenic & Secluded Texas Hill Country Getaway - Turnbull House
Perched atop the beautiful rolling landscape of the Texas Hill Country, The Turnbull House is a space large enough to welcome any group to create priceless memories. The house is positioned far enough away Fredericksburg so that you feel truly isolated, but close enough to get into the bustling action whenever you'd like. With its spectacular sunsets and ample amenities, our home epitomizes the worry-free relaxation and luxury that we believe you deserve from your vacation rental experience.
There are two structures on the property, a main house with 3 bedrooms and a guest house with a 3 bed loft apartment and 4 bed bunk room in the converted garage below. Upon entering the main house, guests will be greeted by an open living, kitchen and dining space. This spacious area is perfect for large groups or families. Guests can proceed to the main floor bedroom past the living area and fireplace, adjacent to a full bathroom with a gorgeous walk in shower with stunning hill country views. The downstairs bedroom has a private access door on the side of the house. Upstairs in the main house, guests will find an office space perfect for anyone to sneak in some remote work during their stay. Past the desk is the second guest bedroom with a king bed and an ensuite full bathroom. Across the hallway is the primary bedroom suite. Another kind bed greets guests with incredibly soft linens, an espresso machine, plush seating, and French doors opening into a stunning full bathroom. The bathtub in this bathroom is one of the home's best features, with windows gazing out on the hill country landscape guests will feel truly relaxed.
Outside of the main house kitchen, guests will find a staircase leading down to the outdoor entertainment areas and hottub. The outdoor landscaping allows guests to enjoy the stunning vistas while playing yard games, relaxing in hanging nest chairs, sitting around the fire pit, or enjoying the large hot tub. Sunsets are absolutely stunning spreading golden light all across the property and over the rolling hills in the distance. Enjoy these views from the yard, or from the upstairs primary bathroom hottub for a luxurious hill country experience.
Heading towards the guest house, guests can ascend the staircase and enter the loft apartment. There, two single beds and another king bed are perfect for families with young kids or groups. There is a full bath, a spacious closet, and a sink and microwave. Downstairs, guests will find a fun and retro bunk room complete with a huge TV, fridge, and ping pong table. Four, double-sized bunks are available for guests as well as a full bathroom.
Parking is available in the driveway and can accommodate several vehicles if you are driving in.

About the host
Hosted by Connor Tomkies

Hey! I’m Connor — born and raised in Texas, now living between Austin and Dallas with my wife, two dogs (Finland and Norway). I’m a big fan of good coffee, great design, and making people feel at home.
Hosting is something I genuinely enjoy. I’ve stayed in a lot of Airbnbs myself, so I try to create spaces that are thoughtful, welcoming, and easy to settle into — whether you’re in town to relax, explore, or just need a solid home base.

Why they chose this property
We chose Fredericksburg because it’s the kind of place that instantly slows you down—in the best way. Tucked in the heart of Texas Hill Country, it’s a town that blends small-town charm with surprisingly great food, wine, and culture. Think: wildflowers, wide open skies, and wineries just down the road.
Whether you're strolling down Main Street popping into boutiques and tasting rooms, catching live music at a tucked-away venue, or heading out for a day of hiking at Enchanted Rock, there’s always something to do — or not do. That’s the beauty of it.
We love the peacefulness here. It’s quiet at night, friendly during the day, and there's a real sense of community. Plus, it’s close enough to Austin or San Antonio for a quick getaway, but feels like a true escape.

What makes this property unique
The Turnbull House is one of the few properties in Fredericksburg with a sweeping view that actually overlooks the town—offering a rare combination of privacy and scenery just minutes from Main Street. With two separate living spaces (a main house and a guest house with a loft and bunk room), it’s perfect for groups who want to stay together but still have room to breathe. Thoughtfully designed and perched on a quiet hill, it blends rustic charm with modern comfort, creating an ideal spot to unwind, gather, and take in the Hill Country’s best sunsets.
