I am a Civil Engineer. I worked at the National Institutes of Health at the time of my retirement in 2005.
Bob Henry purchased this house in 2003
I have always loved the Ocean Pines and Ocean City area. Over the past 20 plus years I rented homes in these areas to enjoy vacations with my family. When retirement was in my plans, I decided to make a dream come true and purchase a house in Ocean Pines where I could continue to enjoy even more free time making even more quality time available to my now grown up children and our friends. I know how grateful I was to people who had allowed us to rent their vacation homes over the years. So, I rent my vacation home when now in use by myself or family, so that other families have the opportunity to make memories of the wonderful time they are able to spend vacationing with their friends and families near the beach and on the water.
I have my own boat. The private boat dock I had built on my property at Ocean Pines gets lots of use by myself and others who want to bring their boat and take it out for a spin to feel the invigorating fresh summer breezes and the undeniably great smell of the salt air and the ocean. Talk about something that cleanses your mind and spirit - this has got to be it.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Summer Breeze. We docked our boat at the house and used it every day and night. The home is well equipped and comfortable and the location cannot be beat. Sitting on the back deck is very peaceful and relaxing listening to the sounds of the seagulls and cicadas while watching the occasional boat go by. There are no houses across the canal from the home, so your view is the water and woods making it private and tranquil. It's perfect. Even the neighbors were very friendly and cordial, offering advice on places to go and even providing us fresh, local grown produce as a gift. The kitchen is very well equipped with every gadget, pot, and pan you can imagine and is great for cooking (including a dishwasher). The neighborhood is very quiet, well maintained and nice to stroll and safe enough for kids to ride bikes or scooters. Crabs were plentiful right from the backyard. Ocean City's boardwalk is a 20-25 minutes away. Assateague Island State Park is a quick 25 minute drive. We took our boat to Assateague every day, which was a blast and fun to watch wild horses strolling the shores! The backyard has a nice strip of grass for a football or baseball catch on the edge of the water. The Florida room is loaded with sliding glass doors and a ceiling fan making it a great space to unwind, read and enjoy the surroundings. There's a propane grill on the back patio great for grilling up any fish you catch. Lastly, the owner was a pleasure to deal with and very quick to respond. I highly recommend this home.
This home is clean and well-kept. The kitchen is adequately stocked. The refrigerator was on the fritz when we got there but was replaced with a brand new one once we informed the owner about it. There is plenty of room for everyone and it is larger than it appears in the photos. We especially enjoyed mornings and evenings on the back deck. Fishing on the canal is not great as there is a lot of boat traffic but there were crabs in the pots everyday even though we didn't cook any up. The closest pool, which is only one street over, is very large and clean and not crowded. Ocean Pines is only a 10-20 minute drive to grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and all that Ocean CIty has to offer without all the crowds. The owner of this property is very easy to deal with. Great place -- highly recommended.
Slots and horse racing at Ocean Downs Racetrack - just 5 minutes ride from the house. There are many parks throughout Ocean Pines and a great golf course and driving range, Yacht Club with a pool and wonderful restaurant, lots of area for bicycling (really flat paved areas). The Ocean Pines Community Center, play ground, craft shop is just a 5 minute walk from the house. The house has a lovely front and back yard that backs to a quiet park with walking trails. If you want to go to the beach at Ocean City but don't want to drive, then you can catch the Ocean Pines shuttle to the beach (and private Ocean Pines club house right on the beach at 49th street in Ocean City). You are only a 5 minute drive from the outlet shops, fantastic restaurants, theme parks, food markets and pharmacys. Only 25 minutes from Delaware beaches and outlet shops. Ocean City is less than a 10 minute drive from the house. And Assateaque Island is only 20 minutes away - See the herd of wild ponies.
