About The Owner

We are a small family owned & operated business specializing in offering personal, friendly service. We own a vacation rental business as well as a towing business in the area because we want to be able to be home when our 3 boys get off the bus, we want to be able to play & work together, & we want to raise our children with strong ethics which included hard work & playing in the great outdoors!! Our love for God, country, & family is why we do what we do & at the heart of our business. We've been blessed to call the Black Hills home & would love to share it with you. We'd love to have you stay with us, JAROD, BECKI, AUSTIN, CODY & KYLE

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Black Hills

Becki's family is originally from Keystone. She has relatives that helped pioneer the town as well as help carve Mt. Rushmore. Jarod's family is from the Wall & Kadoka, South Dakota, the Badlands area. Beside Mt. Rushmore being the National Monument, Keystone is full of living history of the miner era that once made the town thrive. The Black Hills is also full of geological history & a favorite for rock hunters, which we are, & rock climbers, which we aren't:). The small hometown atmosphere of the Black Hills as well as the many diverse sites & attractions makes this the perfect place to make memories for a lifetime, again & again.

What makes this cabin unique

Hiking right out the front door, driving through the Pigtail Bridges, making S'mores over an open fire, playing tag with the kids in the backyard, 5 minutes to Mt. Rushmore, cliff-jumping at Horsethief Lake, looking through unique shops in Keystone, going on a cave tour, laying on the grass & looking up at the stars, rock collecting, fishing at Lakota Lake, swimming at Little Falls, exploring Ingersol mine, playing at the city park in Keystone, participating in small town parades & events, enjoying being together with our family.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Jarod & Becki,

We are very grateful you had the cancellation & the cabin came available. Now that we've "seen & done" most everything & drove by most of the other area cabins we looked at, American Pines will certainly get our referrals! The homes are well-done & well equipped. Our biggest regret is that we didn't book earlier & longer! Thank you! You really are prefectly located to the "attractions" & provide everything needed.

Great S.D.. vacations

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our South Dakota vacation and would highly recommend these cabins! Off the beaten path but close to area attractions. The cabins are spotless and we'll equipped. The owners were so very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Each morning we saw turkeys in our yard and each evening deer in the backyard. The owners take great pride in their cabins and it shows! Love this place!!!

Best stay of our trip

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this lovely cabin for 2 nights this fall. It was perfect. Peaceful, beautiful, clean, well equipped, friendly hosts. It is situated on the Old Hill City Road which is a beautiful drive between Keystone and Hill City. Convenient to tourist attractions but away from the noisier, crowded options. We saw other rental cabins but nothing that was as well situated as American Pines. Most other cabins are on the busier highways nearby.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Loved the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We have visited the Black Hills many times, always staying in a motel. We decided to try something different this year, & when we saw the information on these cabins, we booked our stay there. We know if we get to go to the Black Hills again (& we certainly plan to!) we will stay at American Pines. The cabin was "squeaky clean", and had everything we needed. The owners were wonderful to work with. When we had questions, they were very helpful. The location was great -- near all the things & places we wanted to do & see. The setting was really beautiful. We would certainly recommend American Pines Cabins to anyone.

Best place to stay Black Hills

  • 5 of 5

Close to everything but away from it all. We stayed 4 Weeks in the fall and spent Thanksgiving there. What an amazing time of year in the Black Hills! You won't be dissapointed if you stay here. Wonderful

hosts who know the area. Heard they aquored a Dude Ranch. If it's half as good, amazing!

Great Little Cabins

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights and found the cabin to be comfortable and close to the major attractions. Our cabin was very clean, and the owners were friendly and helpful. Before booking, when I explained that we needed easy access to carry in my husband's oxygen tank, the owner kindly offered to help me with it. The small kitchen had basic kitchen items. There was a grill outside. Although we weren't there very much during daylight hours, we saw deer right outside the cabin and the little porch would have been great for relaxing during warmer weather. For pets they charge per stay not per night, which seems fair. (People with pet allergies should inquire about pet free cabins.) We appreciated their gentle canine greeter, Apollo. We would recommend American Pines Cabins to others and will stay again if we return to the Black Hills.

GREAT PLACE

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 7 nights and were extremely pleased. The property is centrally located to most major attractions in the Black Hills so no matter what we did we felt we were always close to the cabin. The property was well maintained and the cabins were neat and clean and had everything we needed. I watched deer and other wild life each morning from our front porch while drinking coffee. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We would recommend this place to anyone going to the Black Hills area and if we are back in the area we will definitely stay here again.
