Why The Owner chose Colorado

When we moved to Grand Junction Colorado in the 70's, we immediately fell in love with the beautiful mountain scenery on the Grand Mesa. We were delighted to find this high altitude property, and continue to appreciate all the mountain has to offer. We love having the opportunity to share our sanctuary with others.

What makes this house unique

Favorite activities at the lodge include watching deer from the deck, and viewing the handiwork of beavers at the creek. Our sons and their friends enjoy fishing for trout on the property. There are several great local restaurants, a unique gift store, and a friendly coffee shop in the small town of Mesa.

AWESOME PROPERTY

  • 5 of 5

The property was everything as advertised and much more. I would highly recommend this property to my family & friends. My sons are already planning a trip with their families during ski season. Deese Darcy & her son were so hospitable, making sure we had everything we needed.

A great location to explore Grand Mesa, Co.!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great 6 night stay in Mesa at the Moose Path Lodge. Upon arrival there were chocolates set out, and a welcome note. The location was wonderful - we could drive up to the closest lake in about 20 minutes. We did a lot of fishing at several of the lakes in the area, and had great success. For a family of 4 it was very comfortable. The outdoor areas were the real STARS of the property. The gazebo right along the creek was a wonderful place to read, relax and watch the sun set over the mountains. There is another closer to the house that we sat in it during a thunderstorm and watched the sky light up, and several other outdoor seating areas. We saw deer every morning feasting on the lawn. There are lots of mature trees on the property which give it a very private feeling even though it is right along the highway. In general, it was a really nice VRBO.

However, I would like to offer some information that could have made our stay, and may make yours, even better. One of the main reasons we chose this rental was for the kitchen. The listing said it supplied cooking utensils, but if you like to cook you should bring your own sharp cutting knives, and even more basic things like tablespoons, serving spoons, spatula, and a colander and/or salad spinner if you eat veggies at all. And a BBQ brush, as there was no way to clean the grates. There are no grocery stores anywhere nearby (only a small convenience store) so be sure to stock up in Grand Junction or a nearby city. I wish we had known that before coming up the hill. Perhaps most of the renters are more familiar with the area, but this was our first time in the area. The listings states entertainment forms as DVD Player , Stereo , VCR and Video Library. All entertainment items were in the closet of an upstairs bedroom including an old antiquated TV - not really accessible to anyone other than the occupant of the room. My teens were disappointed in that, however my husband and I were content to read. Finally, we would have really enjoyed having information on what to see/do in the area from the owners perspective. A little notebook/folder with maps, suggestions for sightseeing, eating, etc.. have been provided in every other VRBO / Airbnb we have stayed in and always appreciated. There were a couple brochures on hiking, but no map or suggestions from a locals view. Again, we had a lovely stay - these are only our insights and may not pertain to others.

Unplug from stress, quiet and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We had the absolute best time at this "cabin". We stayed for a week and enjoyed the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and spending time in the beautiful surroundings. Wildlife was often seen in the yard! We enjoyed the two gazebos the best for morning coffee, and afternoon relaxation, reading and conversation. We will definitely return to this destination again!!!

Very comfortable and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and sister and I stayed at the property for five days and loved it! It is a short drive to Grand Mesa, where we caught rainbow trout to cook for supper the first night. We regularly saw mule deer (including a spotted fawn) on the property. There is a nice covered sitting area by the creek that is very relaxing. The house is comfortable and well appointed, had a great time cooking in the kitchen. We opened the windows and enjoyed the cool air, great sleeping and very quiet. We hope to stay there again! Deese and David are very nice and accommodating people.

Relaxing Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here Memorial Day weekend with our Daughter and Son-in-Law, 2 grandsons and granddaughter. We saw deer outside of our window. While the grandsons fished, the granddaughter did not feel left out because the upstairs corner area was the perfect play area for her with a day bed. The boys drove to the lake and caught trout and we grilled for dinner that evening. The kitchen was fully equipped. We hope to come back and stay again. The Deese's were very accomadating! The bedding was very comfortable.

Relaxing, back to nature stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary, and loved every minute of it. The location is perfect, away from the crowds, and in nature. An easy drive up to the Grand Mesa Lakes area, or to Palisades for wine tasting. We enjoyed the daily activities of the deer just outside our windows, and took some beautiful pictures from our stay.
