The Space:

Morning light filters through the dome as mist drifts across the mountains, and the night sky unfurls a tapestry of stars above the quiet woods. The crisp air invites you to linger on the deck, steam rising from the hot tub while the fire pit glows softly nearby. Inside, the heated mattress topper cradles you in warmth, and the panoramic windows frame ever‑changing mountain views that make every moment feel grounded and serene.

Sleeping arrangements

The dome sleeps two guests in a king bed, positioned to capture the sunrise and the evening glow. A single bathroom offers a full shower and bathroom essentials, keeping you comfortable without stepping into the cold.

Bathroom & comfort

Heating maintains a cozy interior on cooler evenings, while air conditioning provides relief on milder days. WiFi and a TV let you stream, work, or unwind after a day outdoors.

Kitchen & dining

A compact kitchen space includes the basics you need to prepare simple meals and snacks. Brew coffee in the morning or enjoy a relaxed dinner after exploring the trails, then settle back into the dome for a quiet night in.

Outdoor living

Step onto the private deck to soak in the hot tub year‑round, especially magical when steam mingles with the mountain air. The fire pit creates a natural gathering spot for evenings under the stars, and the surrounding backyard blends seamlessly with the 37‑acre nature preserve. Free parking and a private entrance make arrivals and departures effortless.

Setting & surroundings

Serenity Base is part of the Cooper Mountain retreat, with two other domes nearby but your own deck, hot tub, and fire pit reserved for your stay. The dome’s design embraces the outdoors, so you may notice occasional leaves, pollen, or small insects—particularly in early spring and summer—but regular cleaning keeps the space welcoming.

Exploring the area

Within about 20 minutes you can reach hiking trails, fishing spots, hunting areas, lake swimming, and white‑water rafting. After a day of adventure, returning to the dome’s warmth feels especially rewarding.

We loved staying here. We wanted to experience the luxe dome. It exceeded all our expectations. The bed was so comfortable and being able to look out at the night sky and the dawn while still laying there was so restful. The company was so helpful. We had an issue with the hot tub. They had a maintenance man there the next day. We received correspondence from them concerning our stay giving recommendations and asking if any problems. We were very impressed with their professionalism. We had picked this area because we wanted to do a little leaf peeping and to ride the Potomac Eagle. We plan to definitely come back. Only considerations just know there is only a small refrigerator so maybe have a cooler if have a lot of food that needs to be cold.

Dome paradise!

My husband and i shared our honeymoon here together. It was perfect! The owner was so wonderful and the place is super special. We were looking for a relaxing place to stay in the mountains and couldn't have asked for a better time.Being able to lay in bed and view the stars was so great. We were lucky enough to see the meteor shower from the hot tub. Normally when we stay at a place the grill is gross and not usable...but here it was not the case and we got to grill an amazing meal using local food. When i searched for places in the area to stay this was one of the first that popped up and it was so unique that we had to go. Thanks for an amazing stay! We will be back and many of our friends are excited to check it out, too!

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – Serenity Base in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
