About Leanne Walasek
Owner and Georgia Real Estate Broker who loves the outdoors wants to share my paradise with you. I am a small business owner, a frequent traveler, a sports enthusiast and a nature lover. I know once you step on the property, you will fall in love with it like I have. I am currently in the midst of a personal sabbatical, working at jobs I love, meeting everyone I can and will soon write about my experience in the loft of the cabin. In the meantime, please enjoy my Daves' retreat while you can.
Leanne Walasek purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Leanne Walasek chose Morganton
A short trip from ATL will find yourself in the middle of the Chattahochee National Forrest. Once you visit, it will become very obvious how lucky I was to find this cabin.
What makes this Cabin unique
I recommend coming prepared with at least a few days of groceries. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Even though the nearest grocery store is but 15 minutes away, you'll want to leave civilization behind for a least a few days. First order of business after putting up the groceries is to pour yourself your favorite beverage and sit on the front porch swing. Unwind. Relax. Decompress. Next, familiarize yourself with the house. Pick your bedrooms. Become one in the treetops as you gaze out the giant loft windows. Make yourself at home. You will soon find how easy that will be. Peak at the basement. Plan your downstairs game time. Maybe a little wager at the pool table. Bring your Wii or X Box to hook up to the gigantic TV. The kids won't surface for hours. Next fix yourself your favorite meal. My favorite, a big spaghetti dinner. The open kitchen and living area provides a great gathering spot. Of course, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill is a crowd pleaser. There's a fire pit next to the carport, for your safe campfire. There are plenty of lawn chairs to sit and roast marshmallows. Take a hike down Daves Road. If you continue past the house, this will lead you up Gork Hollow to the top of Picklesheimer Mountain. There are beautiful views up there. The walk is peaceful, through the tall pines and oaks, past the mountain feeder creeks embraced by dense ferns. You might even come upon a few deer. Be adventurous and explore the area. Embrace the north Georgia mountains. Fish, hike, shop, dine, raft, and do some scenic driving. Make sure you visit all the websites listed. With the numerous things to do, you might run out of time if you don't plan! OR you can just stay at the cabin and relax!

Perfect for us and our fur babies!
Has everything you need plus level acreage. We lived up in N Ga and love the mountains but also like to be able to walk around without falling off a cliff. Plenty of room inside and out. We will be back.
Best mountain retreat
We had 2 families with 4 adults and 4 kids and there was plenty of room. The kids loved running around the property and playing in the woods and mountains. They liked the pool/ping pong table downstairs also. The adults enjoyed that as well as the hot tub. Thank you for letting us stay!!
Beautiful secculded property
We only had two problems. First off it was 54 degrees in the cabin when we got there. So we decided to light the fireplace and the flue wasn't open and the place filled with smoke. We sent Leanne a message and she explained that they keep it cold in the winter but I figured since she knew we were coming that she would have had it warm in there. As far as the smoke, she said she leaves it open but the cleaning people must have closed it. So other than the rough start it was a beautiful place and we really enjoyed it. The kids were playing baseball almost every chance they got and there was so much area for them to roam around. I would recommend this property for an enjoyable get away.
Better than we expected!
We had a wonderful visit, husband and I with two grand daughters. The home is very spacious, very clean and well supplied! We were quite comfortable! We will definitely come back to this cabin if it is available the next time we visit this area! I highly recommend it for large families (up to 10).
Everything we expected - and then some!
Secluded, but close to all needs. Rustic but comfortably modern. Relaxation at it's best. We had 3 generations from 18 months to 78 meet here to stay for a family wedding being held close by. The other kids, ages 7, 10, and 11, brought their XBox One (working with the WiFI) and made the downstairs their own thoroughly enjoying the pool table, keyboard, and comfy seating. I read some other reviews talking about how the beds weren't comfortable but we will have to disagree. We all slept extremely well in comfortable beds. The middle generation enjoyed the hot tub and met friends and went to the casino just a short drive from the cabin, while the kids played games and the older generation spent hours around the dining room table playing cards. The kitchen was well equipped as well, and we did a New Years traditional meal of baked ham, collard greens, and black eyed peas with all the other side dishes with ease. We loved that we could bring a large service dog and the kids' little Schnauzer. We heeded the warnings and did not let them run free as it definitely backs up to woods, but thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area with them (except for a few very cold morning.) When we were there it was too cold to really enjoy the porch, but will have to go back when we can as it is discretely fenced with a gate where dogs and small children alike can also enjoy the porch without the adults worrying. While Daves Road is easy to find and easy to travel, a short distance before arriving at the cabin the road is very narrow with some mild drop offs expected in mountainous terrain. So if you are a bit nervous with this type driving (as one of our party was), no worries. It is only a short stretch, road is good, and in the 6 days we were there, going in and out daily, we never meet anyone on the road. In all - this cabin is amazing for the rental fee. If you are looking - you might as well stop here.
Property is gorgeous. Beautiful drive there from Blueridge
We will be back!
