Spectacular cedar chalet style home with 25-foot vaulted ceiling, huge stone fireplace and wood burning stove on Lower Twin Lake. There are three plus bedrooms plus additional sleeping (sleeping 8-10 people) and 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen is equipped with 2 electric ovens and 3 electric stove top burners, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a toaster. Bed linens are provided. About The Owner

We have four adult children. We have truly enjoyed the house over the years. The House became known to us as 'Camp David'. Truly a special place.

The Owner purchased this house in 1995

Why The Owner chose Northwest

We love the northwoods of Wisconsin.

What makes this house unique

The setting is incredible and you will feel nature all around. The deck is at mid tree level and you feel as though you are in a tree house. The view is beautiful. The lake is quiet and excellent for canoeing, kayaking and boating and is known for its fishing. You can swim from the dock or recline in a chair near the waters edge. Several golf courses are less than 20 minutes away. Go antiquing in and around town. Attend local festivals and activities in town. Local Horseback riding stables are available and hiking trails are plentiful. The wildlife includes eagles, loon, deer, bear porcupine, badgers and many kinds of birds including pilliated woodpeckers and humming birds.

Great time celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary

  • 4 of 5

Spent 4 beautiful sunny days at this fine cabin. Plenty of fishing, boating, swimming, playing cards and laughing with the family Our alarm clock were the awesome sunrises and the loons chatting with each other. There was not Internet and it was GREAT being unplugged. There was plenty of room for the 10 of us to hang out together or have our own space from time to time. Lots of room for sleeping. The only issue we had was the stairs going up and down to the lake were a bit tough on my dad.

Relaxing, remote, dated vacation home

  • 3 of 5

Overall, the cabin was a nice place for a vacation and get away from reality. It's important to me to give an accurate portrayal of the experience I had, so I've thought a lot about my feedback. The lake is beautiful and remote with lots of wild life to observe and fishing to be done. The property has a sandy, gravel rock bottom for children to be able to jump off the dock and swim. The deck is a great place to gather and watch wildlife and have dinner. There is a nice dining area and a nice separate 4 seasons porch area to gather after children are in bed. The view from the loft sleeping area is spectacular. They have canoes and kayaks to borrow which was very nice. We also brought our motor boat and were able to anchor it in the water front area. My initial experience of the cabin upon arrival was...underwhelmed. It is very dated and mildew smelling. If you have allergies this place is very moist and mildewy. We had to bring/buy a lot of things to get through the week, such as tp, hand soap, paper towels. Kitchen tools were limited. We donated some muffin pans and a crock pot and other misc items to the kitchen for future guests. The kitchen could be easily improved with simple maintenence. The waterfront could also use some attention, there was no place to gather and relax at the waterfront, some simple maintenance of that area would make it much more enjoyable. There was no fire pit to do camp fires at night, we made our s'mores over the charcoal grill after dinner. We were able to settle in after the initial arrival experience and overall we had a great time. I likely will not rent in the future or recommend to friends unless updates to the waterfront and simple maintenance such as, addressing of the mildew smell (dehumidification) take place. There should be plenty of $ left to put in to the property for what is charged to stay for a week. We appreciate David opening his cabin to our family and hope he is able to accept our constructive criticism to benefit future guests.

Owner's Response: Im glad you had a great time. I give every renter my number and the number of the care taker who lives nearby. If you run out of supplies or something is wrong please let one of us know so we can address the problem while you are at the house. Its a rustic natural house as depicted in the pictures. Its not modern. Im sorry if there there was a misunderstanding about that. What people seem to love about it is the serenity and fabulous views of nature. We purposely have not added more seating at the lake front to preserve the natural feel. People who arent in the water sometimes sit on the two wooden rockers or on the pier with their feet in the water. But gatherings are up on the deck with the beautiful views and the grill. Im sorry there was a musty smell. Im told it was confined to a small area of the lowest lvel of the home and that it has been eliminated. Although it's not a state of the art kitchen, that hadn't come up before. . People mostly grill on the deck and the kitchen has always been fine for the food preparation we do inside. There are two stoves one has three burners and a micro waive and now there is a muffin pan and a crock pot. Thank you for them and for your feedback. David

Fun & Relaxing week with the family

  • 4 of 5

We spent a very relaxing and fun week with our grown children and 3 grandsons. It is a home away from home! The house is everything we expected, there is plenty of room for all of us. The view was wonderful...there was an eagle's nest with babies right by the house! The grandkids loved fishing right off the dock and the loons were very entertaining. They really loved the paddle boat and kayak that were provided!

We fished just about every day and went into Hayward to visit the Muskie Museum. The kids really liked the Lumberjack show, too! We ate most of our meals at the house but did enjoy pizza at Coop's one evening. The shops downtown are neat, too, and Hookstone Winery was fun. It is a short drive into town.

I will definately recommend this property to family and friends. It is a good location to meet as we were coming from different directions and wanted to find someplace in the middle.

Quiet Rustic Getaway

  • 4 of 5

My parents rented this lake house for a family vacation. It very comfortably accommodated my 3 small children, my husband and I, my parents, and 2 brothers. The depth of the lake around the dock was shallow enough that my boys could fish or splash in the water without worry...and they loved using the paddle boat and kayak! The views from the house and deck were gorgeous. The puzzles, books and games that were stocked in the house were very much enjoyed....it was a great place for my family to unplug and recharge!

Sweet Spot

  • 5 of 5

This is a serene, very private lodge tucked into a hidden pocket of a gorgeous little lake. We loved the huge deck, it does indeed feel like a tree house.

Favorite moments: A local marina delivered a pontoon boat for us, and we happily motored from lake to lake using a map we picked up at the fishing gear/liquor store in town. At least 5 connect in the flowage.

The channel at the north end of the lake is spectacular -- go slow and quiet if you want to see bald eagles, herons green and blue, baby loons, turtles, beavers and more. It's hard to spot the entry the first time, but just hang back and watch for another boat to mysteriously emerge or vanish into the reeds.

This was my young daughter's first time fishing, and it hooked her for life. From the pontoon she landed fish after fish as we puttered about the lakes and picnicked afloat.

There are a couple of marinas in town. We didn't reserve in advance, but just stopped in ask about availability and see the rental stock. They were eager to rent at a discount from the posted rate and we were able to choose our boat. They also fitted my kiddo for a PFD they loaned us at no charge.

It's an easy run into town and we found a good mix of old-school supper clubs and new wave bistros.

We ran into a small problem and the owner was very responsive and understanding and did all anyone could ask to make sure we felt good about our stay in this happy place.

A great lakeside cabin.

  • 5 of 5

As a beginner to VRBO.com, this place made my short list during a search for a lakeside cabin for a group a guys to reunite. The place is nestled in a quiet woods with much privacy. It is everything we could ask for -- a massive deck for grilling with an elevated view of the lake, access to the water with a beautiful shoreline, and an accommodating place for everyone to be comfortable.

The owner was very easy to work with and I will definitely keep it in mind to stay at in the future.
