About Rich Murren

My time is spent as a home remodeling contractor. And I am busy all the time with that job. My spare time is spent at the island. We love to come here with our new grandchildren, who are just discovering playing in the sand.

Rich Murren purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Rich Murren chose Florida North East

We came to Amelia Island for a realtor friend that needed help on their condo. We loved it here and realized that Amelia Island is truly 'Florida's Best Kept Secret'. There are no crowds and it is a short distance from Jacksonville Airport and the culture that Jacksonville offers if that is your choice. We enjoy long walks on the beach and going for a swim if we feel like it.

What makes this cottage unique

Watching the sun rise from the deck, watching the dolphins jump and dance, seeing the shrimp boats bring in their catch, pelicans flying in formation over the deck, the unique character of downtown Fernandina Beach, wonderful restaurants all with their own charm, friendly people everyplace you go, walking on the beach and finding cool shells. These are but a few of the benefits to staying on the beach.

Great house! We didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful beach house. It was just as described and was very clean. It had everything we needed. Thanks for the coffee filters because I'd forgotten them! Mary was a delight to talk with and the transaction was smoothly handled. The deck was wonderful. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning with our coffee. We enjoyed the beach! We found shells and I finally found a sharks tooth! Thanks for having such a relaxing place!

Owner's Response: Sounds like you both had a great time AND the shark's tooth was the bonus you were hoping for! The beach does provide a stress relief and the shells and sharks tooth will remind you of that whenever you look at them when you are back home. Hope they also remind you that you and your husband are both welcomed back anytime you find the time again! Thank you again for choosing Beachy Keen.

Great Location...

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect for 3 adults and 2 small children. Lifeguards were close on the beach which was an added bonus. The beach was definitely a less traffic area. It is just a short drive to walmart, publix, and downtown area with all the restaurants as well as shopping. It was just what we wanted. We loved the screened in porch. We enjoyed several meals out there with a good breeze and no bugs!

The day after the total eclipse

  • 5 of 5

Back to Beachy Keen for a relaxing stay after viewing the total solar eclipse in South Carolina. What a great place to see the sun come up over the Atlantic and contemplate what we had witnessed the day before. As always the place was neat and well kept. We enjoyed our second "day in the sun" on the beach and in town. We'll be back!

Location! Location! Location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd visit to Beechy Keen and again we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the house and how well it was stocked with everything we needed! The views are just breath taking and we spent the majority of the time in the screened in area on the deck. Morning coffee on the deck watching the sun come up every morning was so peaceful. The beach is just over the sand dune and never crowded. Morning and evening walks on the beach - you just cant ask for more than that. Amelia Island is one of my favorite places to visit and I wouldn't even consider staying in any other beach house. Rich happened to be in the area while we were there and checked in with us to make sure all was okay. There was just 2 of us staying in the house, but it could easily fit another couple or a couple of kids. The shower - OMG! The water pressure was heaven and I wished I could bring it home with me. Also, having the washer and dryer available was so nice towards the end of our stay so I came home with very little laundry. Thanks for the cookies Rich! There is no doubt in my mind, we will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful things that you experienced and said about our house. I am pretty sure that it qualifies you to count it as "your beach house" when you need a place to relax on the beach :) We look forward to having you both return in the future. Have a great rest of the summer!

Wow...just wow!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time at Beachy Keen. I would love to stay again! I couldn't believe the view and the short walk to the water. The beach house is full of true beach house charm. Everything we needed was there (pots, cups, silverware, towels, etc). The two bedrooms were a plus. We had three adults and three kids and had plenty of room. We walked down to the park with the kids to let them play on the climbing toys. This was a short stay because the kids are little.......hope to return for a longer stay next time!

P.S. Rich, my granddaughter ended up catching 6 lizards (she wanted to make sure I told you)! We have a catch and release policy, so they are still there for your next guest.

Very nice, private place right on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

The house was just as advertised. All the amenities you would want, and just a few steps to the beach. The screened-in, covered area of the large deck was a great bonus! The kids took advantage of the TV service(3 flat screens) during the periods of rain we encountered. We enjoyed our stay!
