4 Bedroom/3 Bathroom House on the Point with Riverviews 2 Blocks to the Beach!
About Cathy Bokman
We first discovered Colonial Beach in 2006 and after enjoying the easy drive from Chevy Chase, MD and the warmth not only of the beach, but also the people...we bought a small cottage on the Point in 2007; ironically next to what is Beachcomber III. We loved sharing it with our family and friends. When not relaxing at the beach, my day job is in the hotel business and I thought it would be fun to own a vacation cottage rental. In 2011, we bought our first beach rental; Beachcomber I on Hawthorn with some of our family members and undertook a major renovation...all of the hard work was worth it...we enjoyed being able to share this hidden secret of Colonial Beach with others. The overwhelming acceptance and positive comments we have received from guests saying how much they enjoyed their stay was very gratifying and in 2012 we bought another rental; Beachcomber II on Wilder. It, too, has been well received by our guests. I will say, it is a lot of work keeping the houses nice for our guests...but I have tremendous help from a team of local people who make sure it is clean, keys work, everything is in working order, lawn cut..special thanks to Katie and Phyllis who treat these cottages like their own and Ethel, Chris, and LLoyd who pitch in, as needed. I know, like me, after you experience the welcoming calm of Colonial Beach, you will be back many times...and we hope it is at one of the Beachcomber Cottages!
Cathy Bokman purchased this House in 2013
Why Cathy Bokman chose Colonial Beach
We chose this property for a couple of reasons; view, size, location, and the fact that it was demolished to the studs so that it was really a clean slate. As we reconstructed it; we changed the layout for maximum enjoyment of the view and adding the ability to have a guest suite within the house. Also we liked that it was one story; through the past several years of renting we have found that many of our guests want the accessibility of one level living.
What makes this House unique
We think you will enjoy the views from the front porch, livingroom, and dining room. We think you will like that it is close to a quiet beach. Many guests in our past rentals have enjoyed that we are family friendly; including your dogs. They also love the two large separate living areas; large den in back of the house and the front livingroom...giving people time together and apart. Please tell us what you enjoy! Please note, we take guest comments seriously. Some guests have commented on the beds. We found the beds very firm when we tested them so bought a new matttess, put gel pads on the other two mattresses. We tested the beds, and while they weren't as firm and more comfortable, we still found them to be squeaky. We tightened the headboards. No luck. Then we found the solution; it wasn't the mattress at all...it was the box spring. Happy to report, comfortable beds and the squeak is gone; thanks for the feedback!

This was our first time at Colonial Beach. We visited for my sons 7th birthday and we were not disappointed. The house was amazing, well equipped and neat. The owner, Cathy was amazing and i was pleasantly surprised to hear from her personally. We will definitely be returning!!!
Enjoyed our stay!
Cathy's property was great. We really enjoyed our stay! Great location & close to the beach.
Beautiful view of the Potomac River!
Wonderful beach house. Lots of room. Beautiful view of the Potomac River. Had beautiful weather and my husband and son had fun fishing. Hope to return in the fall!
A perfect family retreat
We highly recommend this house and Colonial Beach for a relaxing family retreat. The house is extremely comfortable, clean and much larger than it looks in the photo. The view from the front porch is beautiful. The owners were very nice and helpful too.
We visited for a long weekend at the end of March for a girl's weekend, also celebrating my upcoming nuptials. The house smells good and was clean and inviting. The kitchen was stocked with all supplies, including both a kuerig and regular coffee pot.
It's so much larger than the pictures show, and would definitely be perfect for a shared family vacation home.
Will definitely be looking to stay here again in warm weather.
So glad that your girls weekend was a success! We hear so often, bigger than it looks...we felt the same when we first saw it!
We look forward to having you back with us again!
We’ve stayed there before and will stay there whenever we visit Colonial Beach!
The house is perfect! It’s beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and nice and roomy! Cathy, the owner, is great and very accommodating!
A family vacation to remember at the Beachcomber III; the newest of the Beachcomber cottages, welcoming guests since June 2014! Our 4 bedroom, 3 bath vacation home, is family friendly. This cottage features a quiet location with waterview and is steps to the quiet Castlewood Beach and boat launch on the Point. Located one mile from the center of town; the house is close to the beach and Docksides Restaurant bar and marina is just 3 blocks away!
The beauty of the Beachcomber III is it is perfect for families and couples. The house is a one story easily accessible home featuring 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. House has great space to relax with a large open eat in kitchen, livingroom and family room with den. A hidden gem of the house is that there is the ability to have privacy in the back of the house for a couple with a bedroom, bath, kitchenette, and den; that can be locked off for privacy.
The enjoyment of the Beachcomber isn't limited to the house. Great views from the front deck of sunrise over the river Also we feature a gas grill and picnic area; great for crab picking!

Just a quick hour away is Kings Dominion Theme Park; featuring great rides and waterpark.
