Overview

About the property

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Historic Rosny Farm is located on hundreds of acres in the heart of Virginia close to Farmville, Appomattox and the James River in rural Buckingham County. The house, originally constructed in the late 1700's, has undergone a careful renovation that made the kitchen state of the art including a Viking Range, updated both original wood burning fireplaces for guests to enjoy, refinished the original heart of pine floors and plaster walls and added two new bedrooms in the English Basement. The furniture and fixtures are all luxury, high-end -- some of which are antiques. Guests can enjoy miles and miles of exploring along trails through field and forest and creeks. Moreover, Rosny is a working organic farm that raises grass fed beef and pork as well as free range hens for eggs. Families will enjoy jumping into the daily farm activities or cooking up fresh farm raised beef to serve on the gracious west facing porch that spans the length of the house. Guests can horseback ride at nearby Sprouses Corner Ranch. However, if one wants to simply relax and get away in the country - this is the place to do it. Rock for hours on the porch or relax by the fire with a book. The bedrooms are one queen bed and one set of twin beds, each with their own bathroom. Longwood and Hampden-Sydney College are both nearby as is historic Buckingham Courthouse and Appomattox Courthouse.

We loved this sweet farm~ the peace and quiet was wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We decided to stay at this farm as a weekend getaway while riding on the High Bridge Trail (about 25 minutes away).

We loved the rolling farmland and forests, the friendly pigs, cows, chicken and sheep. We even collected the eggs for breakfast :).

The house was very comfortable, updated nicely, with an excellent front porch overlooking the farm. Very peaceful, with no sounds of city or traffic. The sunset was lovely as well as stargazing.

We would definitely return if in the area again.

An amazing place

  • 4 of 5

This was a great, unique place to stay. I would definitely return . The setting is absolutely wonderful. Hot and muggy all around us, but the porch seemed to defy summer. My preference is to cook in, and the kitchen is splendid. However, if you plan on doing the same, you might want to consider bringing cookware you think essential. I am not often sorry to leave a place, but I could have easily extended my stay if only time allowed.

A National Treasure!

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful and magical place. Perfectly situated for rest and relaxation. Yet, 2O mins from everything you need and an hour beautiful drive to Monticello or Appomattox. Serene, comfortable , welcoming and a true Virginia farm experience. ( won't lie -stopped at the fence line and fed the goats , cows and chickens...hay, grass and a corn cob) Comfortable cottage with everything you need. Great helpful owners.

This is a real "National Treasure!" And, believe me I know what I am talking about. A writers' porch paradise where I got lots of work done and read two novels over 5 days! Thx Julie! (one suggestion: do wash those windows! the pasture view-and its visiting wildlife of deer and foxes- was too nice to cloud)

We love staying on this Farm while visiting the area. The cabin is so comfortable, quiet, and peaceful. The front porch is a treasured spot for early morning coffee or late night name games! I can't wait to come back! GO TIGERS!!!

Very Charming!!!

  • 4 of 5

What a charming place. We just loved the views from the front porch and the decor was very relaxing and comfortable. The kitchen was very well appointed. The only thing that needs improvement was knowing where to check in. The map sent us to another place. Would we go back? Absolutely! Would I recommend the 1790 farmhouse? Absolutely and have. In the fall the views should be gorgeous with the trees changing color.
