About the property

Studio Apartment with Kitchen and Bathroom, (Sleeps 2)

NON-SMOKING apartment

Nestled in the Latin Quarter, on the 14th century street Rue du Fer a Moulin, who would ever guess there would be a bucolic paradise behind the big doors? Set into a private street accessible only by a coded entrance, it feels like walking into your own secret garden as you enter this charming studio.

Within easy walking distance of the bustling well known market street, Rue Mouffetard, yet bathed in delicious silence, the only thing to disturb your reveries are the birds in morning song.

This is a neighbourhood steeped in history, where you can feel the breath of the Musketeers flow out of Dumas’ pages and at the same time take advantage of all the services on offer: bakeries serving hot croissants and bread fresh from the oven, bistrots frequented by locals, cheese shops, right down to cinemas and theatres.

Only a hop, skip and a jump away are such world famous sites such as Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, Jardin des Plantes with it’s renowned Natural History Museum. Only next door is the 1920s Paris Mosque and it’s tea-room straight from a Delacroix tableau. Around the corner, you can play petanque in the 1st century Roman amphitheatre – Arenes de Lutece or walk over to the Seine and dance tango at weekends while watching the boats pass up and down.

The studio is self-contained with everything from guides on Paris to wifi, free international phone calls, your own verdant window boxes and a kitchen-dining room.

Ideal for a couple with 1 queen-size bed. It has catered for 3 with a futon supplied extra.

The owner lives downstairs and will be delighted to help you, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German & Japanese.

About Andrew

I started my life as an engineer. I've been lucky enough to work in about 20 countries around the globe. I've lived in Paris for 16 years and now teach at university. In my spare time, the abundance of art in Paris has inspired me to do some of my own, so don't be surprised if you find me sculpting or painting next door where I live.

Andrew purchased this studio in 2003

Why Andrew chose Jardin des Plantes

We have a great little community. We often eat together and socialise together. My neighbours are very international and speak many languages. We always enjoy the exchange with visitors to Paris

What makes this studio unique

A real community of eclectic Parisians, as Paris has always been. Come and join us.

Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time staying here. I also stayed here four years ago and I loved it again! Andrew is wonderful, the studio is just the space you need, after all, one does not go to Paris to sit in their apartment all day. The Latin Quarter is my favorite, bustling and quiet all at the same time. Rue Mouffetard, a pedestrian street is right around the corner. I highly recommend this studio to anyone.

Charming, comfortable studion in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The studio was a comfortable place to stay for us as a couple, with a really nice bathroom and a kitchenette with a breakfast table that was very convenient for some self-catering meals. The location is great, very central and a short stroll from major attractions and interesting neighbourhoods that we explored on this trip. Andrew put in a lot of care into the place and was a wonderful host, preparing for our arrival down to the smallest detail, which made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this as a place to stay, it contributed greatly to our enjoyment of Paris on this trip.

I love this studio !

  • 5 of 5

I just came back to La Rochelle and I am still thinking about this little cozy place – Andrew’s studio. I am thinking of its colors – gold, light yellow and brown. Gold belongs to the huge mirror, its frame is coated by a patina; gold also belongs to the baroque curtain – you can close it at night; the light yellow is the color of the walls, it is combined with the white. Brown tiles on the floor, then the amazing color of the woolen rug – it includes the colors I mentioned: gold and brown. Oh, I forgot the blue of the kitchen corner but I just wanted to describe my perception of this studio. The person who designed it is an artist and as I am sensitive to art I started with colors. Do not forget the green – I mean real green, alive, the green of plants which make a gallery outside the studio. You can open the window and you can see this amazing garden. There is a great variety of plants and each plant is happy. As talking about practical things, I have to say that everything is just wonderful: I did not cook during my stay but one can make a great dinner using the electric stove, there is a little refrigerator and all kinds of things one needs for everyday life. I must stop here, I just want to say I really appreciate human qualities and I found some touches of antiquity in this studio. For example, I can write an ode about the stairway. And Paris is always with you inside the studio and behind its door – it is a great location I must say. Thank you so much, Andrew!

Owner's Response: Dearest Albina, It's so nice to read your wonderful review. I try to make my studio reflect how I feel about life whilst at the same time provding the comfort I look for myself when I travel. I too love harmonious colours that provide quiet happy energy. The rug you were talking about I found in Fez. It's handmade and represents the family tree of a Berber family yet looks suprisingly modern in style. The terracotta tiles in the kitchen are 18th Century and I found them outside Paris to match the 19th century tiles of the main room. It was an adventure getting them. Coming from Ireland, I love green and so have taken it upon myself to plant the entire garden in the courtyard. At first I think my neighbours thought I was probably crazy but after 10 years, they all love the verdant space. In Spring we are bombarded by the song of the blackbirds and various other birds. It's wonderful to hear in Paris. I really enjoyed reading your comments. Nice to get such feedback. You are most welcome in my house or my studio anytime. See you soon. Andrew

Great location for exploring Paris

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great few days stay here. Booking with Andrew was seamless from start to finish. He made himself available to answer all of our questions and provided great recommendations for our stay. We loved the location of the studio...everything you need is very close by. We loved waking up in the morning and strolling down the street to pick up fresh croissants from one of the bakeries on Rue Mouffetard and then heading off to explore the city. We are foodies, so having easy access to amazing food was definitely a plus. The apartment is small, but perfectly adequate for everything you would need for two people. The pull out couch was very comfortable and we're picky about the comfort of our beds. Thank you, Andrew, for a lovely stay!

Well located in the heart of Paris in the famous Latin Quarter, my studio is surrounded by good restaurants and food shops. If you like markets, there is also the famous Rue Mouffetard around the corner with it's fresh food beautifully laid out every day. You are within easy walking distance of Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, the Botanic Gardens among others. Discover my neighbours who, for the most part, also speak many languages, including English. It would be a delight to have you enrich our local neighbourhood with your tales. Come and join me in experiencing Paris the Parisian way.
