Peaceful Pine Island Vacay!

Peaceful street on lovely Pine Island! Ocean access at end of street and close to boat rentals and restaurants in St. James City. Our family liked the big shower in updated bathroom, and it was nice and I have a washer and dryer.

Lots of space with good size rooms. Really nice having an ice maker and filtered water in the fridge/freezer. The shower is large and beautiful but the showhead is really low - great for me at 5' but not so good for my 6' husband. The air conditioner works great. We had to turn the temp up because it was too cold for us. The house is solid and the neighborhood is very quiet. It looks like a great location if you bring or rent a boat. The host was very friendly and responsive. The lack of a dining table was a bummer. And we felt the need to clean the fridge, freezer and counters when we arrived to be comfortable making meals in the house.

First off, I have to say Thalya was great to deal with- she was quick to reply, friendly, and helpful. However, the house was not quite up to a standard I would expect when hosting guests. First, unfortunately there was a fairly strong “dog” odour in the house, that even my small children made mention of. There was dog hair covering the couch and the area rug in the main living space. The kitchen was fairly well equipped but not well cleaned- cupboards had visible fingerprints and food, the reusable k-cup for the Keurig looked like it had never been cleaned/rinsed, the air fryer basket was full of crumbs/grease, the inside of the cupboards were dirty and unorganized, and there were small bugs that were crawling all over the counter by the sink. Due to the lack cleanliness we did not use the kitchen during our stay. There was no where to sit to eat other than couch, however you couldn’t sit on the couch without getting covered in dog hair. There were 2 tv tables to eat from, but they were too tall for small children and therefore my kids had no where to eat. The bathroom was nice, but the fact that you can’t flush your toilet paper seemed unhygienic, but I understand that may be beyond Thalya’s control. The king size bed was extremely uncomfortable, and when we arrived the bed was not fully made- only a fitted sheet with a thin comforter and two decorative pillows that were in poor condition (rips). I had to make our own bed with sheets/pillowcases I found in closet.

Thank you for your feedback and for noting the positive communication. I do want to clarify a few important points for future guests. My property is pet‑friendly, but it is also professionally sanitized and deodorized after every single stay. A strong dog odor or visible pet hair is not consistent with the condition of the home at check‑in. I have already addressed this with my cleaning team to ensure the standard guests normally experience is upheld without exception. Regarding the kitchen, the items mentioned—such as the K‑cup, air fryer basket, and cupboards—are part of our standard cleaning checklist and are cleaned between every reservation. What you described does not reflect the condition the home is prepared in, and I am reviewing this with my team to reinforce expectations. As for the bed, comfort can vary by preference, but the king mattress is relatively new and has not received similar complaints. Even so, I will re‑evaluate it to ensure it continues to meet the comfort level guests expect. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and I remain committed to maintaining a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space for all guests. In addition, this portion of Florida has septic tanks and we strongly avoid flushing toilet paper to avoid any back flow.
