Ma'alaea Banyans is located in a quaint harbor village on Ma'alaea Bay. Watch turtles, dolphins and whales directly from the oceanfront lanai (balcony). Enjoy the ocean views that seem to go on forever! It is one the most centrally located resorts offering convenient access to most of the popular sites on the island. Enjoy the solitude of a resort far from the crowded high-rise hotels and traffic.
New Split AC in the Living Room and Bedroom as of March 1, 2026!
This recently remodeled home has all the modern conveniences to make your stay a comfortable one. The 555 square foot condo is on the second floor and overlooks fabulous Ma'alaea Bay, with gorgeous views of Haleakala, Molokini Crater, and Kaho'olawe.
Ma'alaea Banyans Unit #209 includes a very comfortable new California King bed in the bedroom. Listen to the waves lull you to sleep at night! This well appointed home is beautifully furnished in tropical style. Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, new spacious refrigerator with ice maker and cold filtered water. The spacious pantry allows plenty of room for food storage for extended stays keeping your kitchen clutter free. We have a washer/dryer combo machine; however, we've added an additional dryer in the hallway closet for faster drying.
The two ceiling fans are not always needed because of the comfortable ocean breezes that flow through the bedroom and living room when all the windows are left open to let in that awesome ocean breeze. However, if you need extra cooling there is Split AC in the living room and bedroom! There is a Queen size sofa sleeper in the living room for one extra guest.
Enjoy the sparkling pool, hot tub and well-manicured grounds with chaise lounges and tiki torches lit most evenings. There are two gas BBQs and outdoor eating available on the lawn near the BBQ area.
There is a small private beach accessible from the property where you can watch the sea life up-close. Sugar Beach is a sandy shoreline stretching for about 2.5 miles (4 km), from Haycraft Park in Ma'alaea all the way to North Kihei. Haycraft Park's entrance is located at the end of Hauoli St., which is just a short walk (2/10 mi) from the condo.
Within Walking Distance
The Maui Ocean Center is next door, home to Maui's world class Aquarium and a delightful outdoor center with shopping and dining opportunities. Those who love water activities will appreciate staying next to the Ma'alaea Yacht Marina, a convenient departure point for sunset catamaran cruises, snorkeling excursions, and sports fishing boats.

The location is excellent for exploring all of Maui, North to South and East to West. The condo was clean and the photos on the listing are accurate. We enjoyed meals and whale watching from the lanai every day we were there. We also enjoyed Sugar Beach just a few minutes walk away. It's a hidden gem! We even spotted a large green turtle sleeping on the tiny bit of beach in front of the condo. The kitchen is well equiped for cooking in, and we appreciated being able to do laundry. The only frustration was operating the TV. We never did figure it out, the directions were beyond frustrating. Although watching TV is not what we came to Maui for, we did want to watch news and shows at night and were really not able to do that. We would stay here again and hope the TV situation can be simplified. Thanks for a great stay!

Mahalo for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the central location and were able to explore all around Maui with ease. It’s great to hear that you made the most of the lanai—whale watching and meals with that view are some of our favorite parts too. And spotting a green sea turtle right in front of the condo is always a special treat!
We’re also happy the condo was clean, the kitchen worked well for cooking, and that the in-unit laundry and quick walk to Sugar Beach helped make your stay comfortable. It really is a special, peaceful stretch of beach.
Thank you as well for the feedback about the TV instructions. We appreciate you mentioning this, and we’ll definitely look into simplifying the directions so it’s easier for guests who want to catch the news or unwind with a show in the evening.
We’d love to host you again on your next trip to Maui. Mahalo for staying with us!
The condo is very nice, clean, and modern. There is AC in the unit, but I never used it, as I prefer enjoying the sounds and smells of the ocean, so I keep the windows open. The ceiling fans do a good job of keeping the condo comfortable. The condo grounds are well maintained and very clean.

Mahalo nui for this awesome review! What a great way to enjoy the space, it's in a great location! We hope to host you again, aloha!
The host was very welcoming, including follow up contact. We never mastered the television at night, but enjoyed some old shows. The folding beach chairs on the deck were past their retirement date, so maybe a new crew of two is waiting in the wings. Finally, the kitchen had a pronounced and lingering odor. It was unrecognizable, including its source. The deck was wonderful, including the distant breaching whales, and a resident pair of Myna birds keeping watch from a pair of palm trees, their main perch directly in front of the deck. Finally, the location was very convenient and close to many places. Thank you.

Mahalo for taking the time to share your experience and for the kind comments about the welcome, the deck, the whales, and the location — we’re so glad you were able to enjoy those highlights.
We also appreciate you pointing out the issues you encountered. We’re actively investigating everything you mentioned, including the television setup, the condition of the folding beach chairs, and the kitchen odor, to better understand the causes and determine appropriate solutions. Feedback like yours is extremely helpful in guiding improvements and maintenance.
Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing such thoughtful observations. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
We were charged a cleaning fee when booking the condo. Once we arrived we read the instruction booklet that stated for us to wash all towels and bedding and a text the day before check out reminding us to wash all bedding and sheets before leaving and to wipe down all counters. My husband and I are clean people but I didn’t expect to spend our last morning in Hawaii washing laundry when I already paid a cleaning fee. Not to mention, you have to run the dryer multiple times for one load of towels. Needless to say, there wasn’t even enough time before check out to complete it all unless you dry one towel at a time. There were also instructions to not leave food on the counter to keep the insects away and to store everything in the refrigerator. We were tired after our flight arriving so shopping for food the same day was the last thing on our mind, but the next morning, we quickly realized the infestation already existed and was hard to see at first glance on the dark countertops. I don’t know what they were but they appeared to be tiny ants scattered everywhere, in the sink and overtaking our morning coffee pot. And what appeared to be all the crumbs crammed between the cracks of the stove and countertop that was never cleaned out from previous guests. Needless to say, we never got the opportunity to cook in this condo and had to rinse off our coffee stirring spoon immediately after use. If you go to the beach remove all sand from yourself, a broom doesn’t exist

Aloha, and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We’re really sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet expectations and want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. We’ll be sharing your comments with our cleaning team so they’re aware and can make sure this is addressed moving forward.
We completely understand how frustrating it might’ve felt to be asked to handle tasks like washing linens, especially after paying a cleaning fee. In Hawaii, it’s pretty standard for vacation rentals to include a separate cleaning charge — kind of like how airlines charge for seat selection — which helps keep nightly rates a bit more affordable. Since our condos are privately owned and don’t include daily hotel-style housekeeping, we do ask for a couple of small favors at check-out to help keep everything running smoothly between guests.
As for the issue with pests: Hawaii’s tropical climate does mean that pest control is an ongoing challenge, and we try to stay on top of it as much as possible. We do ask guests to store food carefully and wipe down surfaces, but we’re truly sorry if there were signs of bugs when you arrived — that’s definitely not the experience we want anyone to have. We’ll be following up on this with the cleaning crew as well.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback — it helps us get better — and we hope that despite the hiccups, you still got to enjoy some of the beauty and magic that make the islands so special.
Couch needs to be updated. Pool and hot tub are small. Would be nice to have a few more spices/oil in the pantry

Mahalo for your feedback — we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
We understand that comfort is important, and we’ll certainly share your comments about the couch with the owner. While the pool and hot tub are part of the resort’s shared amenities and on the cozier side, many guests enjoy them for a relaxing dip after a day out exploring.
Regarding pantry items, most condo rentals (including ours) don’t typically provide spices or cooking oils for safety and freshness reasons, as well as varying guest preferences. That said, we do try to ensure the kitchen is well-equipped with the essentials needed for cooking.
Thank you again for staying with us — we always value constructive feedback! Aloha!
