Best location in Newport!

The booking of the unit was very easy and the staff onsite did a fantastic job making the check-in and check-out process simple and quick. Can't beat this location in Newport - everything is within walking distance. The views of the harbor from the unit were awesome - there were 3 covered decks for this unit and two had ocean views! The unit is spacious and the kitchen has everything you need to cook meals if you decide to eat in - full size refrigerator, stove, and microwave. We had a covered parking space for our vehicle too! The indoor pool was clean and well maintained.

Less than ideal

First problem was that the property moved me the day before our stay. So rather than being right in town and walking to bars, restaurants and shops we needed to drive-- just 3/4 of a mile into town. Second problem-The "townhouse" was a glorified hotel. But, the furnishings looked like they came from a frat house yard sale and there was no art or anything on the walls. The price was great-- but, we got even less than what we paid for. Newport, however was a great little town in New England. That salvaged the trip!

Good experience

The condo was spacious, very clean, and fairly comfortable. Beds, linens, etc were all fine. Furniture overall was workable though somewhat worn. Kitchen well appointed. Nice bathrooms, one with whirlpool tub. We did use the indoor pool and that was lovely. Gym is small but there were so few guests at this time of year (March), we had it to ourselves. The main challenge was the heat....apparent that it had been set very low prior to our arrival and it took a couple of days for the furniture and rooms to warm up. Bring sweaters!! Can't beat the location though and the view of the Newport Brdige at night was great. Overall, we would recommend it and will probably return. Certainly the winter pricing of this unit is very reasonable.

Beware!!

Booked this three months in advance and received an email the morning of my trip telling me my reservation at this location was cancelled - some sort of reservation “optimization” I spent my two hour drive to the hotel with an agent from the Wyndham property group trying to rebook my party of four. This is a group of part friends - part coworkers and we had booked a two bedroom two bath condo (with kitchen) that slept six. Agent was trying to substitute a hotel room with two king beds. I explained that it would not be comfortable for my coworker and her spouse to share a bedroom with me and my friend. Agent ended up booking a one bedroom suite with king bedroom and pull out sofa in separate living room. When we arrived at hotel we found that it was not a separate bedroom - we were all placed in the same room. This was a horrifying experience. And I haven’t even started to mention how every time I called I was on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes before I could get to a person. If you read other reviews on this property you will see similar stories. I called the manager at the original property hoping for some help. He had none. I asked “what if I did not see the cancellation email and showed up here at 9pm expecting to check in to my room?” He told me he would have given me the phone number of the Wyndham Properties and sent me away. Buyer Beware!

Wyndham Onshore Newport is a great place to stay!

This property is directly on the harbor and just a quick walk off Thames Street. One of the best locations for anyone travelling to Newport as just about everything is walking distance from this resort. The apartment was nicely furnished and appointed and was nice and spacious and comfortable for our family of 4. The only drawback is the parking slots are mighty tight.

Red lipstick memory

Check-in after 4pm and after 5pm a mess, no one to contact from property, and no clear direction needs to be fixed! Drank my coffee out of a coffee cup with red lipstick and was grossed out and had to wash dishes first night there.

Newport is fantastic, I always seem to come back. The location of this place was amazing. Needs a bit of an update but otherwise provides everything you need for your stay.

Best vacation place ever!

It would be easier to list the negative things about this place.(=such as the bedroom with twin beds was cold or that they don't have the food channel.=) because we could go on and on and on about all the great things we LOVED. This place is 5 stars in everything that makes a vacation perfect . The unexpected extras, such as: two decks in front and back, super compfy beds, parking right outside the entrance, and a location on Thames st at America's Cup ave.:, makes this a place we will come back to again and again. Thank you

Pictures on web site out dated. The condo we stayed in was very beautifully. Decorated .. furnishings up scale. The balcony was huge. Had a full size patio table With six chairs. ( not just a little bistro table with two chairs ) The lay out of the two bedroom condo was perfect Focus on living space.

Perfect getaway

Fantastic! Perfect location, walking distance to shopping, restaurants and attractions. The outside decks were amazing. Full kitchen and dining space and a washer and dryer in the unit. We will definitely be back.

Perfect location and amenities. Overall condo could probably use some updating (master bathroom had some mold and the front of the tub was broken) but besides that it was the perfect Newport location and the pool was a BIG BONUS! Thanks!

Wonderful location

Very nice clean apartment. Full kitchen with dishwasher. Laundry also in apartment although we didn't use it. The only annoyance is that after 5 pm, you have to check in with the Whyndam down the street. Otherwise you couldn't ask for a better location. Right in downtown Newport on Thames street. Shopping, restaurants, attractions right down street. Having a place to park your car is also great since parking in Newport during season can be a nightmare. Overall excellent apartment but it is reflected in the price.

location, cleanliness and everything we needed!!!

We all enjoyed the Wyndham Condo in Newport, RI. The location can't be beat. Right at the Newport Harbor for and easy walk to the pier for a tour of the harbor - reasonable charge. Also easy walking to restaurants and shops, museums, etc. The condo too was nice with pleasant furnishings and efficient staff.
