We had a great stay at Barefeet Retreat. It was very accurate to the listing and was in the perfect location for us as it was close to the beach and close enough to activities in Galveston without feeling busy. There were very minor cleaning issues (couch had something on it, sticky spots on the floor) but they were nothing a disinfectant wipe couldn’t fix.

Cute house not far from the water. Streaming services never worked and there were no wash cloths. The air conditioner stopped working one afternoon but kicked back on before we went to sleep that night, thank God.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I was not aware that there were no washcloths I would have had the cleaning crew drop those off I'm pretty sure they usually put them in the house when they put all the towels out maybe you didn't find them. In reference to the air conditioning we had a power outage in the community so we just needed to restart the system at the electrical box. So sorry for the inconvenience. The streaming service was the same issue. So sorry for that inconvenience.

This house was very well maintained, and the neighborhood is excellent. It's a bit more of a drive into Galveston than some other options, but nothing that prevented us from doing what we came to do! The lack of cable TV was a bit of a letdown, especially since a storm knocked out the internet streaming options as well — but the owners were very accommodating in that regard and they compensated us for the inconvenience. They responded to every message that we sent. The only real complaint (and not the owners' fault) is the MOSQUITOS. I thought they were bad back home, but we were not prepared for the size, quantity, and aggression of these insects. The area is low-lying so even the lovely lawn is just a marshy breeding ground. Bring plenty of bug spray!!

Our stay here was absolute perfection! Check-in and check-out were an absolute breeze—super easy and stress-free. The house itself was incredibly clean, well-kept, and felt wonderfully cozy the moment we walked in. A huge bonus for Texas summers: the A/C works almost too well, keeping us perfectly cool the entire time! Even had to raise the temp because it felt too cold at night⁶. The location is absolutely perfect, with all the main attractions just a short 10-minute drive away, and the neighborhood amenities were a fantastic addition to our trip. Plus, you can drive right onto the beach, making access and setup incredibly easy. While the kitchen is a little tight, it is efficiently designed and very do-able. When it was time to wind down, sleeping here was superbly peaceful. 10 out of 10—we would absolutely stay here again!
