Great family location
We stayed at the house for 2 weeks in July 2016 as a group of 8 and had a fantastic time. The view across the lake is awesome and really helps relax you at any time of the day or night. Sitting by the large pool and looking across the lake becomes a pastime for everyone.
The house is big with huge amounts of family space. The 3 lounge areas are all good and the kitchen/breakfast area is also spacious with that great view. The master bedroom suite is huge with a big ensuite and the best views in the house. The other 3 bedrooms are all close together, adjacent to the other bathroom so if all bedrooms are being used you need to work around that. The last bedroom is not served by the air conditioning but some big fans were supplied and were more than adequate.
The outdoor space is just great. The pool is bigger than average and the areas around it give plenty of room to spread out. There are plenty of inflatables in the cupboard by the pool and with the lights on at night it provides a great place to finish any day. The BBQ and lounge area is an excellent place to relax with a cold drink and we used the BBQ twice with superb results. Below the pool deck is a large garden area though that was used more by wild deer each morning than by us!
The real star here though is Mike the owner. Nothing is too much trouble and he really goes out of his way to ensure you have the best possible vacation. He was very quick to respond to any queries we had and made some great recommendations for us. He is a great guy and can tell you some good stories about the house and previous owners.
At Mike's suggestion we used Just for Fun boat hire just a few minutes away and had two sessions out on the lake. I recommend going on a Tuesday when you get 4 hours for the price of 2 - we had so much fun in a speedboat and anyone can hire one. We also went to Salt Lick BBQ where the food was excellent and good value - a real proper taste of Texas. Nearby Oasis restaurant with its 'cliff-top' location is a great place for dinner with some amazing views. Downtown Austin offers plenty with the State house and the many bars on 6th Street. Also try a 'Panic Room' adventure - lots of fun.
Lake Travis is a beautiful area, very relaxing and everything you need is not far away. Shop at Randall's for all your food and drink - the choice is excellent. I would strongly recommend this house for any family groups, and ask Mike if you have any questions. We are missing Mike and that view!
