Jut a real simple Catskills cabin with some rustic charm and incredible scenic views.

  • 4 of 5

It was a great Labor Day weekend 2017 at the cozy cabin on 137 Kleis Spur. It was real easy to manage and there were some great creature comforts thrown in like the rock shower that overlooks the outdoors, ROKU TV, great deck with BBQ ready, very quiet and nice local trails for scenic heights and exercising. Pretty great place for not a big spend! Def recommended for the easy Catskill Country life.

Cozy, relaxing and fun

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend here and it was exactly what we needed. The house is just like the reviews say. Cozy, excellent speaker system, good Wi-Fi, fully stocked kitchen (but no silverware, though we brought our own). The owner was incredibly helpful and kind both in checking in with a phone call, telling us about the hammock and suggesting an amazing hike. The grill, deck, and views of the stars were also great. There are certainly cameras on the outside if the house (for security I assume). We would definitely like to go back.

Charming, cozy, picturesque cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was perfect for three nights and days. We never had to leave the cabin once after making a run to the local grocery store. The house is in a beautiful setting, very private and quiet, with gorgeous views of the Mountains off the wrap around deck. The kitchen and pantry was well-stocked with condiments, coffee, BBQ utensils and silverware. Della, the property manager, was very helpful and readily available, by text and phone call, when I couldn't find the steak knives (they were right in a kitchen drawer that I hadn't tried opening) and came to the house upon my request to bring a BBQ lighter and batteries for the TV remote control. The TV was even set up with Roku, including free access to Netflix! The bathroom had extra toiletries like a hotel in case you forgot your own. There were cameras on the outside of the house but according to the owner and manager, they are only on when no one is there. (It is a rental property and is sometimes vacant.) My dog loved the backyard and the pond which had bullfrogs in it. We really loved how private and quiet it was. It's on a dead end street and the nearest house was vacant. It was very comfortable, relaxing, and a perfect de-stressor. Absolutely recommend!!

A couple minor issues but otherwise a quiet location

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is in a quiet dead end street within driving distance of some very nice towns in the Catskills. It was a nice place but the ad stated it was "mostly furnished" as far as kitchen accessories. Our first night there, after local restaurants had already closed, we discovered there were no metal knives, forks or spoons. We did find what looked like used and washed soft plastic forks...basically useless. The next day we discovered the oven doesn't work. The pilot light ignites but will not stay lit to heat the oven no matter how long you hold it in for. As soon as you let go of the pilot knob and turn it, it shuts off. Next stop was the microwave oven...the outside was clean enough but the inside had old food baked onto various places. No thanks! We ended up going to the nearby Dollar General and buying utinsels and steak knives. The next guests won't have to eat with used plastic forks since we left everything there. I know the owner is not local so most of the blame for these issues goes to whoever the local caretaker is. Notwithstanding these minor problems It was a positive experience. It's a beautiful area in the Catskills.

We called upon checkout as instructed and the call went straight to voicemail. After leaving a voice message we also sent a text saying we were leaving. No response to either effort. I'm not sure why we had to call at checkout because there are numerous wifi infrared surveillance cameras surrounding the entire perimeter of the cabin with views of the deck, yard and parking area so they can most likely see everything going on outside the cabin on a device or PC. I'm not sure if the cameras are capable of audio recording also but three of the cameras are literally just a few feet away from the sitting area on the deck. I certainly understand the need for surveillance cameras for crime prevention in such a remote location but there was no courtesy mention of them in the listing or during our check in phone call. If you didn't look overhead you would never know they were there. Knowing the cameras are there ahead of time is fine but seeing them after being there for a couple of days is just creepy.
